It also offers a preview into the next year of tunnel walk style set to take over the league.

Before the 2025 WNBA Draft officially begins, the year's rookie class shows up to score on the red (technically, orange) carpet. Last year, rising stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese tipped off a year of incredible outfits with custom Prada and Bronx & Bianco, respectively. This year's showing was bound to be even more fashion-forward. Hours before the carpet got underway, Coach was unveiled as the WNBA's first official fashion partner—guaranteeing plenty of It-bags and runway outfits later in the evening.

Sure enough, anticipated top seed Paige Bueckers of UConn arrived clutching an oversize Coach bag with her sparkling oversize suit. Notre Dame's Sonia Citron and TCU's Hailey Van Lith also toted Coach Tabby bags (the former's, a custom beaded rendition of a runway style). But the standout bag has to be NC State's Saniya Rivers's tricked-out Birkin, emblazoned with the message "The WNBA Been Poppin'." (Agreed!)

Regardless of designer, draftees favored structured blazers, satin dresses, and every shade of neutral imaginable. The palette gave the impression that the 2025 WNBA rookie class takes style as seriously as their prospects.

Eventually, the 2025 draft stars will make it all the way to the WNBA playoffs tunnel with their game-day style on display. Consider the best red carpet looks from draft night, ahead, a sneak-peek at the slam dunks to come.

<![CDATA[ Coachella's Micro Shorts Trend Takes Center Stage in Beyoncé's Cheeky Levi's Collection ]]> Each festival season, a new stand-out trend inevitably emerges—whether at the hands of stylish concert-goers or the performers themselves. We're now squarely in the middle of Coachella's 2025 run and, already, a cheeky front-runner has taken the lead.

Celebrities and superfans flocked to California's Colorado Desert wearing cut-off shorts of microscopic proportions. Stars like Jodie Turner-Smith and Becky G both sported teeny-tiny styles in the crowd, while onstage, Megan Thee Stallion—as well as her surprise guests Victoria Monét and Ciara—sported short-shorts that bordered on underpants. Blackpink members Jennie and Lisa also traded pop star bodysuits for denim micro shorts during their headlining acts.

Though she didn't step foot in the desert last weekend, Beyoncé—the queen of booty shorts—still found a way to take cash in on the saucy trend. On Monday, April 14, the pop star announced the launch of her third collection with Levi's jeans, “Refrigerator.” The drop reimagines range of the brand's signature denim styles, including fitted vests, trench coats, trucker jackets, baggy jeans, and, of course, micro shorts—all of which are available to shop now.

Beyoncé made the big announcement on her Instagram, posting a cheeky denim look. She wore a chambray shirt tucked into a pair of butt-baring short-shorts. It was a simplistic outfit that made a massive impact—much like the styling of her past Levi's collaborations.

The first weekend of Coachella exhibited a palpable shift in festival style culture—one Beyoncé's collection taps into directly. The usual over-the-top aesthetics were largely absent. Glitter was a rarity, crochet tops were few and far between, and flower crowns went virtually extinct. Instead, Coachella Valley overflowed with functional basics, like plain white tank tops, loose-fit jeans, and baseball caps. In essence, no-frills pieces that center functionality over kitschy aesthetics.

Fans had better get shopping, because Coachella weekend two is fast-approaching.

<![CDATA[ Zendaya's Cozy Polo Sweater Is One of Gigi Hadid's Favorites ]]> Zendaya is back in Los Angeles doing what she does best: dropping style lessons when fans least expect it. This time, she even had an assist from one of Gigi Hadid's all-time favorite pieces.

Z traded the windswept dress she wore on the set of The Odyssey in Italy last month (and the trench coat she wore between takes) for something more everyday but no less epic. Making a quick stop at the city's School of Style on April 14, Zendaya appeared in an oatmeal Guest in Residence polo sweater paired to single-pleat khaki pants. The monotone look would have conveyed rich girl energy all on its own, but she and stylist Law Roach dialed up the weekday opulence with square-toe, Oxblood flats, a slicked back baby bun, and smatterings of gold jewelry. (Her new signature, the Jessica McCormack engagement ring she debuted at the 2025 Golden Globes, appeared missing from her left hand.)

Zendaya's surprise appearance was primarily to support her longtime image architect—not to sell us all on cozy polo sweaters. Law Roach is currently a mentor for the School of Style, an organization provided accredited fashion education courses. The actress filmed a quick greeting in her look for the school's Instagram page—ostensibly showing off the styling wisdom its teachers have to share. "Hello, it's Zendaya, and today I got styled..." she paused, "at the School of Style." After waving to the camera, she made a slow-turn showing off her low-key, yet luxurious outfit.

But fashion people can't help but look at Zendaya's outfit and get inspired for spring. (At least, this editor can't.) Teaming two creamy oatmeal basics—her polo sweater and pants—makes her cherry red flats pop even brighter. Gold rings and hoop earrings complement the color scheme. It's a lesson in making a statement by being understated—something Zendaya does well, whether she's carrying a Loewe bag on set or taking a walk in a Reformation sweater.

Zendaya is usually first in line to innovate on the red carpet, but her casual Monday look is just the latest Hollywood show of support for Gigi Hadid's brand. The designer herself demonstrated a more colorful way to wear the exact same knit in Paris last month. She layered hers in a shirt sandwich, between an Isabel Marant jacket and a black crewneck T-shirt.

Other celebrity fans have gone the more pared-back route when they've tried Gigi Hadid's polo sweaters—like Hailey Bieber, who modeled hers with nothing but her daily jewelry stack and fresh Rhode products on TikTok last year.

Zendaya's quick visit to the School of Style wasn't an expected one. Many fans anticipated she'd lay low until the 2025 Met Gala. (She is busy planning her wedding to Tom Holland, after all.) But no one's complaining that Z found time to offer a quick spring sweater tutorial.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence Tackles Spring's Bug-Eye Sunglasses Trend With Her Favorite Nike Sneakers and a Cozy Coat ]]> While the rest of us were packing away our chunky sweaters and winter boots, Jennifer Lawrence remained utterly unmoved by Fool's Spring. The season has technically already begun, but the No Hard Feelings actor is still relying heavily on her cold weather favorites (and a buzzy sunglasses trend) to combat April's unusually brisk forecast.

Lawrence kicked off her week with a Monday morning stroll in New York City on April 14. Her casual-cool outfit was comprised of all the seasonal favorites that carried her through winter 2025, including an espresso-hued wool wrap coat and a burgundy scarf that she's worn on several occasions.

She paired the cozy combo with black wide-leg trousers—potentially, her beloved La Ligne Colby Pants—and a pair of black sneakers. The star generally favors Adidas styles embossed with the brand's signature three-stripe motif, but she put them on pause for this particular occasion. Instead, she slipped on a pair of Nike V2K Run sneakers, which came equipped with a metallic, gunmetal trim.

Though the $120 shoe style is a fairly new addition to her roster, Lawrence has already worn them multiple times this month, paired with the same coat.

Though most of her outfit was pulled from the winter section of her expansive wardrobe, Lawrence still took the opportunity to implement a buzzy spring eyewear trend. She brought the Paris Fashion Week-approved bug-eye silhouette to the streets of NYC, sporting a pair of futuristic, wrap-around shades with a bubble-like appearance.

Lawrence tends to gravitate toward more timeless pieces—like oatmeal-colored sweaters, streamlined coats, and easy-wear moccasin loafers—over the strange and unusual. But the star made an exception for this delightfully "ugly" trend—and I dare say, she worked them seamlessly into her wardrobe.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence Has Styled La Ligne's Colby Pants at Least 6 Times—Now I'm Equally Obsessed ]]> Everything I know about Jennifer Lawrence comes from two sources: her increasingly rare interviews with the press and her much more frequent walks around Manhattan. From the latter, I've deduced that her current style era involves finding her personal best in any given category—an Adidas sneaker for shoes, a sweater by The Row for knitwear—and committing to it. Clothes are made to be worn, and Jennifer Lawrence wears hers with panache. If she's going to be followed by cameras, she'll champion pieces she genuinely loves. And the item I sense she's truly infatuated with, more than any other this year, is La Ligne's $295 wide-leg Colby Pant.

La Ligne's Colby Pants are to Jennifer Lawrence what the Hunger Games hardcover books were to me in high school: something she's simply inseparable from. The New York City-based brand was founded in pursuit of designing the best striped sweaters, but Lawrence has identified La Ligne as her go-to source for an optimal, everyday pant. On the rack, it's the kind of minimalist-chic piece that's so unassuming, it could almost go entirely unnoticed. The style features a mid-high rise elasticated waistband, roomy legs, and a floor-grazing hem. It's available in twelve colors and sizes XXS through XL; Lawrence owns it in navy and black.

Jennifer Lawrence makes a compelling case for La Ligne's Colby pants every time she hits the sidewalk wearing them. They first appeared while she was still pregnant with her second child, layered under thick sweaters and leopard print coats on five separate occasions between January and March 2025. The pants' elastic waistband and comfortable bias cut were no doubt appealing to the star as she dressed for her third trimester. The versatility of these pants, which can be styled with everything from vintage Fendi accessories to Nike sneakers and belted bags by Liffner, seemed like a major plus.

Postpartum, Lawrence has kept her Colby pants in rotation with many of the same pieces. She may swap her Nikes for Loewe ballet sneakers or trade in a bag by The Row for her Liffner style, but the foundation of her outfit is always the same. Her La Ligne pants always drape over her shoes with carefully constructed wide legs. And onlookers (like me) can't help but wonder if they're as pajama-cozy as they look.

When Jennifer Lawrence builds an outfit around La Ligne's Colby Pants, it often includes a longline coat, an oversize sweater, and equally comfortable footwear. (Image credit: Splash by Shutterstock)

Jennifer Lawrence might be the Colby's most devoted unofficial spokesperson, but she's certainly not the only one. The more I looked into the pants' celebrity fans, the more convinced I became of their stylistic range. Meghan Markle (sorry—I mean, Sussex) selected a pair in a cheery shade of pumpkin spice orange for a monochromatic outfit during her official tour of Colombia last summer. Kaia Gerber also slotted a red poplin version into her street style lineup, right alongside her beloved Repetto ballet flats and studded east-west tote bag by Paloma Wool.

Each time I wrote about celebrities wearing these pants, I saw just how versatile they could be: No two women wore them quite the same way. But even after all those clips, I was left with one big question: Do these pants hold up for NFRPs (non-famous regular people)? I secured two pairs—navy crepe and black satin, just like Jennifer Lawrence—to find out for sure.

How I Styled Jennifer Lawrence's La Ligne Pants

Jennifer Lawrence's favorite pants arrived on my doorstep on the eve of a work trip upstate. I thought wearing them for a two-hour car ride and then enjoying some leisurely walks around the outdoor resort property where I was staying could give me an even better sense of their fit and feel than lounging in them at home. (Though I'd do plenty of that, too, when I returned.)

I paired the navy crepe pants with a Lawrencian oversized sweater and suede Jamie Haller shoes. From the first fit, I knew I'd nailed the sizing—and that the brand had perfected a fit that was just oversized enough. I usually wear a size 10 or 12 in women's pants, and sometimes I find that garments designed to be intentionally relaxed on smaller sizes can still fit a little snug on me. But the size L sat comfortably at my waist without any pinching or angry red marks by the end of the day. The fabric also draped nicely away from my hips and flowed down to the floor.

Once I got moving, I could instantly see how they became Lawrence's errand-running pants of choice. Sitting in the car, they're soft and pliant. In motion, they're light and airy. Wearing them, I felt less like a frazzled editor on deadline and more like a downtown rich mom—put-together, not overly styled, and infinitely relaxed.

I channeled Lawrence on one of her daytime walks when I packed the pants for an overnight trip to Wildflower Farms. (Image credit: Halie LeSavage)

Once I realized the pants worked in casual settings, it was time for a more formal test. The satin pants were my plus-one on a last-minute, 24-hour work trip to Utah—one that involved a formal dinner and in-person interviews with sources. I would only have about an hour to myself to get dressed and ready after the flight to Salt Lake City touched down; temperatures also hovered near freezing, even at the start of April. So, instead of shivering in a party dress, I packed my black pants, a cashmere sweater, and Manolo Blahnik heels that I could layer with crew socks.

The pants didn't wrinkle or crease in my weekender bag, while the hem just barely skimmed the ground with my 75mm heels. I felt as good wearing these in front of work peers as I did at home by myself. When the night ended, I almost didn't want to take them off.

The next morning, I hopped on the plane back home wearing—what else?—the navy crepe pants with a rugby shirt and my Sézane trench coat.

On another work trip, I had a formal dinner and interviews with TV stars—so I chose the satin pants and a low heel. (Image credit: Halie LeSavage)

One formula has risen to the top of my Jennifer Lawrence outfit inspo pyramid, though. On days when I work from home, La Ligne's navy Colby pants have been my constant companions, paired with an oversized crewneck knit (usually from Anine Bing or Reformation, again) and a pair of Adidas Tokyo sneakers. This combination makes me feel more awake than slipping into a matching sweatsuit, yet it's just as comfortable. Some of J.Law's nonchalant energy must have transferred to me as I wore the same formula through days of writing in my home office and walking my dog. I reached for these pieces without any hesitation, and I didn't need photos to know they looked good.

I've now learned something else about Jennifer Lawrence through my outfit experiment: She really does have the best taste in pants.

<![CDATA[ A $5,600 Gucci Bamboo Bag Is Bella Hadid's Pick Over Classic Coachella Style ]]> A year and a half into her rodeo girlfriend era, Bella Hadid continues to find new and exciting ways to rep Western style. Thus far, her formula has included low-rise jeans, leather corsets, and cowboy boots by the dozen. Her latest look, however, might just take the equestrian cake.

While celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber were traipsing through Coachella Valley, Hadid was in the midst of a much more luxurious vacation. The supermodel touched down in Paris last week, bypassing music festival style in favor of a luxe leather look and a more metropolitan setting.

Her outfit was the full-body personification of a pair of classic cowboy boots: rugged and leather, with a bit of yeehaw flare. She wore her beloved Saint Laurent aviator jacket in espresso brown and a matching studded belt. From there, Hadid added on pleated pleather pants, a knotted chocolate blouse, and pointed-toe boots.

Though her outfit reeked of Western influence, Hadid's designer handbag was perfectly in line with the elevated Parisian aesthetic. She shelved her cherished Saint Laurent Sac De Jour and instead chose a sleek, vintage-inspired Gucci design.

Hadid carried the house's Bamboo 1947 Medium Bag, featuring a leather compartment and curved wooden bamboo handle inspiring its name. The $5,600 bag is one of Gucci's best and most longstanding creations, launching for the first time in 1947. Hadid's purse, however, is a more recent interpretation, made even more modern by the silken scarf she wrapped around the handle.

And just like that, my Coachella FOMO is gone.

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner Gives a Classic White Tee the Coachella Treatment With Camo Print Add-Ons ]]> It's rare that two drastically different facets of my identity—Midwestern-grown farm girl and present-day New York City fashion editor—cross over. But thanks to Kendall Jenner and her newfound passion for camo print, today is one of the rare exceptions.

Jenner rolled up to her third day at Coachella dressed in the traditional garb of my culture. She embraced boyish layers for Travis Scott's April 13 show, combining several basics with a heavy helping of camouflage.

She started with a perfectly oversize white tee and a pair of baggy black utility pants. From there, the supermodel added in several foliage-printed garments straight from the farm supply store. These pieces included: a long-sleeve tee and fitted baseball cap, both washed in a neutral-toned leafy motif.

Jenner's laid-back 'fit was of the Billie Eilish variety—that is to say: androgynous and oversize, with '90s-era layers. In fact, it wasn't too far off from what Eilish herself wore to the California festival. It was, however, a departure from the festival aesthetic Jenner has been curating all weekend.

In the days leading up to this delightfully understated outfit, Jenner had predominantly channeled a 1950s-throwback kind of vibe. She wore multiple midi-length fit-and-flare dresses in soft, spring pastels—one by Proenza Schouler with a vintage-inspired basque waist and the other with a mock neck and a more fitted shape.

Though she loves a girly-girl moment, the normcore aesthetic has been a pillar of Jenner's style since the very beginning. It's safe to say she's returning to her roots.

<![CDATA[ The Four Spring Shoe Trends Defining My Wardrobe Right Now ]]> Friends! I’m so excited to dig into this week’s topic—something I can’t stop thinking about and, unfortunately, shop, shop, shopping—shoe trends. Similarly to watches, I love to go deep on all things footwear. This week, I’m inspired by something I quite literally have to do, which is make space in my closet (especially in the sneaker department). Ahead, I’m sharing the four categories that are top of mind as I overhaul my personal shoe edit.

Yellow Sneakers

I generally gravitate toward white styles for spring and summer, but there’s something about yellow that’s really calling my name. I imagine wearing them similarly with shirt dresses or black trousers and a white T-shirt. Either way, they’re the ideal summer commuter shoe.

The Sneakerina

I have to credit Vogue for the portmanteau. The sneaker-slash-ballet flat has unexpectedly caught my eye and I’m considering giving it a twirl for spring.

Jelly Sandals

So fun! So silly! So summer. We have to get our kicks where we can, and nothing gives me a little dose of joy like a jelly sandal that reminds me of my childhood.

Strappy Black Sandals

There’s something so sexy about a pared-back black sandal, wouldn’t you agree? Team it with red hot pedicure or, if you’re the type to go against the grain, no polish at all.

Anatomy of an Outfit

MONDAY:

I worked from home, but eventually left my apartment to go to my next door neighbor’s for a glass of wine. The weather is still quite abysmal—cold and rainy—so I went with something warm and cozy.

TUESDAY:

I’m going to need spring to fight back because I’m so sick and tired of this cold weather! *Tantrum over*

WEDNESDAY:

Spring is still not in session, so my go-to fall coat is back in full effect for a day at the office. Very annoying!

THURSDAY:

At last, we’ve topped 45 degrees, so it’s back to light layers for a few market appointments and meetings in the office.

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner Trades a Classic Coachella Bag for a $5,600 The Row Tote ]]> Kendall Jenner has already had an extremely busy first weekend at Coachella, thanks to her 818 Tequila pop-up, which was attended by celebrities like her friend Hailey Bieber. But just because she's in the middle of the desert, Jenner isn't about to sacrifice her style.

The model was photographed spending time with sister Kylie Jenner and her Oscar-nominated boyfriend Timothée Chalamet. At first glance, Kendall's outfit appeared to be much more relaxed than the Proenza Schouler dress she wore at the 818 Outpost. But upon closer inspection, it quickly became clear that her second Coachella outfit wasn't cheap, either.

Instead of carrying a simple festival bag, Jenner opted for The Row's Marlo Tote Bag in Moss Leather. The chic bag retails for $5,600, is currently sold out, and has a waitlist. Luckily, the bag is still available to shop in alternate colors.

Aside from her $5,600 bag, the rest of Jenner's outfit was wonderfully understated. The model wore a pair of washed-out black jeans, a simple tank top, black sunglasses, and a pair of silver sneakers. The slim profile of Jenner's sneakers perfectly aligns with one of 2025's inescapable sneaker trends. Along with super-slender sneakers, ballet sneakers have also found a celebrity fanbase in recent months.

Jenner is a fan of The Row's tote bags, and has been photographed carrying several different designs—The Row's Park XL Textured-Leather Tote and the brand's Nuance Leather Tote Bag are also in the 818 Tequila founder's extensive collection.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber's Coachella Outfit Pairs Vintage Mugler With One of 2025's Inescapable Sneaker Trends ]]> Hailey Bieber is making the most of her time at Coachella, and that includes pairing vintage Mugler halter tops with trendy slim sneakers for the perfect high-low outfit.

Bieber supported close friend Kendall Jenner at the 818 Tequila pop-up at Coachella, where both models wore gorgeous spring dresses for the desert setting. After spending time at the 818 Outpost, the Rhode founder changed into a vintage Mugler halter top featuring flame detailing for an evening at the festival. The makeup mogul paired her vintage Mugler top with Gimaguas "Lula" Trousers in black, which are available to preorder for $217.

From Onitsuka Tiger sneakers to Adidas It-sneakers, Bieber's footwear choices are always on point. For Coachella, the model opted for $475 Dries Van Noten Leather-trimmed Suede Sneakers. With their slim profile, Bieber's sneaker choice for Coachella taps into a growing trend for slimmer, ballet-inspired footwear.

Bieber gave fans a closer look at her Mugler halter top on Instagram, with her photos showing the red flames creeping towards her neck. The difficult to track down top appears to be from one of Thierry Mugler's '90s collections, and is currently listed for $7,000 on one resale site.

As well as having an extensive collection of celeb-beloved bags, Bieber's presumably huge shoe closet certainly approves of 2025's resurgent slim sneaker trend. Whether she's combining cherry red Adidas sneakers with head to toe leopard-print, or picking the perfect pair of black loafers to complete her weekend outfit, Bieber's style always has my attention.

In 2023, Bieber spoke to Dazed about her burgeoning beauty brand, Rhode, and what it has in common with fashion. "[T]he whole philosophy behind the brand is 'one of everything, really good,'" she told the outlet. "And having this kind of wardrobe-style skincare was something that made a lot of sense for me. I was talking about it when we were developing the brand like, 'You know when you just find that really good leather jacket or the perfect pair of jeans and the perfect t-shirt, then you have the perfect outfit.'"

<![CDATA[ Tyla Styles Her Vintage Dolce & Gabbana Coachella Costume With Stacks of Pandora Jewelry ]]> Tyla performed at Coachella on Friday, April 11, and she did so with the help of a vintage Dolce & Gabbana outfit and a plethora of Pandora jewelry.

The South African singer—who is also the global brand ambassador for Pandora—wore a gold crystal bra from Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2000 RTW show, which she paired with a red and white brocade belt featuring a black fringe, taken from the same collection. Tyla completed her outfit with ripped fishnet stockings, Leona lace-up boots from Burju, and a torn white vest.

All of Tyla's jewelry came from Pandora, including the brand's Infinite 14k White Gold Double Lab-grown Diamond Drop Earrings, a stack of five Organically Shaped Bangles, and several Pandora Timeless Pavé Rings. The musician also wore a Pandora ME Shark Tooth Mini Dangle Charm.

During the set, Tyla performed her song "On and On," which she remixed with Aaliyah hit "Rock the Boat." Becky G also joined Tyla on stage during Coachella to perform "On My Body," and the pair posed together for photos.

Tyla's Dolce & Gabbana bra and belt were first seen at the designer's Spring 2000 Ready to Wear Runway show in Milan, Italy on September 30, 1999.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner's Spring Coachella Dresses Are Inspiring Me to Ditch My Winter Wardrobe ]]> Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner are making the most of the sun during Coachella's first weekend. The models, who are close friends, were both spotted in Indio, California on April 11, where Jenner's 818 Tequila hosted the 818 Outpost at the festival for the third consecutive year. For the occasion, both Jenner and Bieber wore spring dresses, although their outfits couldn't have been more different.

Bieber opted for a backless black halter dress with a high neck, which she accessorized with a pair of Toeme Leather Heeled Flip Flops, Saint Laurent's SL 557 Sunglasses, and her vintage Piaget watch. This isn't the first time Bieber has worn her Toeme heeled sandals, with the $450 footwear even making it out on a date with husband Justin Bieber.

Meanwhile, host of the party Jenner wore Proenza Schouler's aptly-named "Kendall" Dress in Tech Cotton. She accessorized her spring outfit with a pair of sunglasses and The Row's Dune Flatform Sandals in Rubber, which retail for $750.

The 818 Outpost included "a 1970s Autocamp Soirée backdrop," and served cocktails made with 818 Tequila, Sprinter Vodka Soda, CELSIUS Energy, Califia Farms, and Saint James Iced Tea, per a press release. Jenner's company also partnered with a number of brands for the event, including Postmates and Good American, and Anderson .Paak's alter ego, DJ Pee .Wee, provided the music. Alongside Bieber, special guests included Alex Consani, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Alix Earle.

<![CDATA[ Lisa's First Solo Coachella Costumes "Explore the Spectrum" of Her 'Alter Ego' Era ]]> The first time Lisa took the stage at Coachella, she performed as one of four members in the K-pop band Blackpink. Her peony, sequin-coated costume coordinated with the rest of her girl group; she had her spotlight moments, but she wasn't the only star.

Two years later, Lisa booked a coveted solo slot on Coachella's 2025 lineup, armed with a smash album Alter Ego and a setlist that showed her stylistic range. One minute, she's all swagger against the thrumming beats of "Rockstar" and "Thunder"; the next, she's sweet and starry-eyed on "Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)." Bringing that spectrum of music to life required costumes that weren't just complementary to her sounds. They needed to show her range. Enter: designer Asher Levine.

Levine is modern pop royalty's first stop for their most bombastic performances and music videos. Taylor Swift tapped the designer to create her "Bad Blood"-era costumes; Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga are also satisfied clients. He combines familiar onstage silhouettes—like a skintight bodysuit—with "extreme textures." One minute, an Asher Levine A-lister can resemble an alien princess from a far-off planet in a set complete with glowing lights; the next, she can tap her inner superhero in a molded bodysuit with hyperrealistic muscles.

In other words? Levine gets what stars are looking for when they want to break the mold—whether it's the one they've been placed in or one they've made themselves. "I've always been about being different and unique and [exploring] what is other," Levine tells Marie Claire a few hours before Lisa's Coachella set. "I love it when these new pop stars on the block want to be futuristic and they want to show a different side of their badass self. It's so cool that Lisa is living her alter egos in my designs."

Her first look, a "Reptile Villain" suit, included hyperrealistic scales and fang-like embellishments along the shoulders. (Image credit: Courtesy Asher Levine)

Levine joined forces with Brett Alan Nelson, the stylist and creative director tapped for Lisa's set, only a month before the performance. Landing on her two costumes was a fluid conversation: Lisa's team would bring the references, Levine would filter them through his lens of nature-inspired detailing and careful tailoring, and then the group would refine each look until it was perfect.

To open the set, "I pitched a full reptilian villain texture to Lisa, and she chose that," Levine says. "She wanted scales, and I said, 'Honey, I'll show you scales.'"

The final opening look consisted of a skintight, longsleeve bodysuit resembling the armor of an intergalactic serpent queen. Curving spikes jutted from the structured shoulders and all the way down her arms. Black scales with iridescent shimmer coated the sleeves, bodice, and legs with 3-D texture. (Levine's reptilian references are in part inspired by firsthand experience: Lenore, his rescue iguana, tagged along to rehearsals, to Lisa's delight.) After an initial sketch, Levine consulted Nelson for one additional detail to tie it all together: "a late '90s, Britney-like slouched front belt element."

For added drama, Levine also crafted a floor-sweeping, puffy black coat— designed specifically to be torn off in two pieces after Lisa's opening song.

Once Lisa was ready for her setlist to take a softer turn, the team swerved in a new aesthetic direction. Out with the hard scales and spikes sharper than venomous fangs; in with fairy lights and curves inspired by the stamen of blooming flowers. The mood board for her second costume even got back to nature, Levine says: "They showed me specific references of bioluminescent insects, bioluminescent mushrooms, bioluminescent veins."

The final result combined shades of turquoise, pink, and opalescent white cast from a glass-like material, with tendrils of glowing lights curving from Lisa's top and hips with the grace of a butterfly. Levine combined UV lights and UV reactive pigments into the "petals" of the shoulder details, a feat of fashion engineering. As she performed, the stage lights landing on her costume would cast an "ethereal glow effect."

Later in the set, Lisa changed into a second look: a bodysuit with shoulders resembling the stamen of a blooming flower, all enhanced by glowing lights. (Image credit: Elia Berthoud)

Levine says his team was working on the light-up elements in Lisa's shoes in the hours leading up to her performance. (Image credit: Elia Berthoud)

The highlight of working on Lisa's Coachella costumes was their combined parts, Levine says. Both looks were futuristic and adventurous, but they harmonized with her music in distinct movements—two pieces of a nuanced, indefinable whole. "It was really cool to explore the spectrum," he adds. "When Lisa's on stage, she's showing all of these different parts of herself: from really soft and ethereal to hard and 'f–ck up the world.'"

Lisa's second look was inspired by bioluminescent creatures—and involved three separate lighting systems to perfect, Levine says. (Image credit: Elia Berthoud)

Levine says the dichotomy of Lisa's Coachella costumes prove she "can't be put in a box." (Image credit: Elia Berthoud)

An underlying idea of Lisa's performance looks—that she contains multitudes, and they all deserve a moment in the fashion spotlight—plays out way beyond the Coachella. "People want to explore different parts of their identity through how they visually project themselves," Levine says, "and I really see my girl, guy or [anyone] in between wearing a floral dress one day and then wanting to be a little bit darker the next." Trust that the next time Lisa headlines a concert, she'll let another alter ego take center stage.

<![CDATA[ Bella Hadid Combines Two Controversial Y2K Denim Trends With a Leather Biker Chic Jacket ]]> Bella Hadid is currently in Paris, where she's filming Ryan Murphy's forthcoming series, The Beauty. Whether she's modeling or acting, one thing is for certain: Hadid isn't afraid to revive a controversial trend. In fact, the supermodel just revived two Y2K denim trends with one pair of jeans on the streets of the French capital.

After being spotted riding a motorcycle and filming a violent, bloody scene for the new series, Hadid was photographed wearing a pair of low-low-rise jeans, which also featured the recently resurrected puddle-hem. Hadid's aughts-coded pair of jeans featured stud-lined pockets and were fastened with a chunky black belt with a silver buckle. The influential model paired her dark wash jeans with a black turtleneck crop top, and a subtle black blazer, which was hidden behind an edgy leather biker jacket.

Gigi Hadid's sister completed her outfit with black sunglasses, black pumps, and her beloved Saint Laurent Sac De Jour in Crocodile-Embossed Leather. Hadid has an extensive designer bag collection, and the Orebella founder seems to favor a larger tote version of Saint Laurent's iconic bag, which retails for $3,550. Luckily, the sleek style comes in multiple sizes, colors, and grains for every taste.

Hadid regularly leads the way when it comes to reviving retro trends or inspiring new ones. Recently, she's hopped on the studded bag trend, shared her adoration for 2025's It-shoe—the ballerina sneaker—and secured Coach's must-have Empire bag.

Hadid recently shared the second drop of her collaboration with Frankies Bikinis, writing on Instagram, "this one is so special." She continued, "frankie and I grew up side by side, and now our brands get to do the same. a collaboration of love, friendship, and worlds coming together the way they were always meant to. @orebella x @frankiesbikinis...from us, to you. hope you love it as much as we do."

<![CDATA[ I Already Know These 18 Tops Will Be the Backbone of My Summer Wardrobe ]]> Not many pieces in my wardrobe are as versatile as a great summer top. That's why they're a staple in all my tried-and-true outfit formulas. I can rely on a simple white tank top to pair with various skirts for an effortless summer work outfit. So, I'm updating my summer wardrobe with a few items before the new season begins.

After browsing the sale sections at my favorite retailers, I found plenty of options to elevate my cute summer outfits. <![CDATA[ The Most Classic Trench Coat Is Selena Gomez's New ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Scene Partner ]]> If you’re a fashion enthusiast and an avid watcher of Hulu’s hit show Only Murders in the Building (OMITB), you’re likely acquainted with detective Mabel Mora's on-screen wardrobe. Played by Selena Gomez, Mora’s closet is filled with elevated layers from shearling-trimmed coats to cropped mod jackets. Now, it appears as though Gomez just added an eternally classic trench coat to her character’s expansive outerwear collection.

Filming OMITB’s fifth season in New York City on April 10, Gomez was captured in a glossy spring trench coat. Costume designer Dana Covarrubias layered the star's trench above a gingham tailored vest, an embellished blazer, and a pleated leather mini skirt. To top things off, Covarrubias included a pair of sheer tights and croc-embossed boots into the mix.

Gomez’s polished outfit falls right in line with her character’s signature style, which is defined by cozy staples like cashmere cardigans, free-flowing dresses, and snug wool coats. Mora doesn’t skimp on the accessories, either—she often wears sleek add-ons such as shimmering gold jewelry and sharp kitten heels.

Offscreen, Gomez’s real-life street style doesn’t stray too far from Mabel Mora’s. Earlier this week, she attended a Knicks game alongside her fiancé, Benny Blanco, while wearing a Western-inspired outfit that could easily be featured in the upcoming season of the SAG-Award winning series. For her laid-back date night, the star embraced spring’s boho-chic trend with a velvety suede trench coat, a set of By Far Gilles boots, a pair of wide-leg jeans, and an OSOI leather shoulder bag.

While Gomez’s OMITB outfits are certainly fall-coded, they can work well for spring, too. Given that temperatures are still a bit chilly (at least here in New York City), you’ll want to keep a trench coat hanging in your closet for the foreseeable future. Ahead, shop a variety of trenches that are just as worthy of screen time.

<![CDATA[ The Belt Buckle Trend Elevates Hailey Bieber's Coachella Flip Flops by Several Notches ]]> It didn't take much time for the belt buckle trend to secure its place in fashion this spring. Jennifer Lawrence got looped in with a Liffner belted bag, while editors all over New York City strapped in to Tibi x L.L. Bean's belted collab tote (guilty). Almost all the most popular takes involve handbags cinched and closed with leather belts. If Hailey Bieber's first Coachella weekend outfit is to be believed, the belt buckle trend is headed for flip flops next.

The model arrived in Palm Springs ahead of Coachella on April 10 hand-in-hand with her husband, Justin Bieber. Most outlets will probably fixate on the couples' coordinating style: Both halves of the duo chose low-rise, mid-wash jeans for their roadtrip from Los Angeles. Mrs. Bieber wore hers with a cropped black tank top, Fila baseball cap, and black shoulder bag; Mr. Bieber chose a checkerboard sweater vest and tiny sunglasses. Despite the pair following the same low-key dress code, my eyes still went to Hailey Bieber's belted flip flops.

Hours of sleuthing later, the exact designer behind Hailey Bieber's flip flops eluded me. (Her stylist, Dani Michelle, hadn't tipped me off to their origin yet, either.) But I could still understand the appeal on sight alone.

The contrasting stitching and golden belt buckle leveled up her leather flip flops by several notches. They look a little like a Birkin bag—but in sandal form. Even thong sandal skeptics have to admit the design is a step ahead of the unembellished versions that come around every summer.

Hailey Bieber's footwear collection has lately alternated between two extremes. On one end, she's worn cozy hybrid slipper shoes and plain rubber flip flops. (Albeit, they're from The Row.) On the other, she's hit evening events with pointed-toe mules to match the rich-lady energy of her fur coats and red carpet bandage dresses.

In 2024, Hailey Bieber's Coachella wardrobe mostly involved soccer jerseys, Adidas sneakers, and comfy skirts. She was concealing her pregnancy with son Jack Blues Bieber at the time, and comfort was clearly key. A year later, her belted flip flops are a sign that she's back to embracing her "basics, but better" mentality. And if shoppers follow suit, these shoes will mark the start of the belt buckle trend's head-to-toe era.

<![CDATA[ The Major Sage Green Color Trend Just Clinched Kendall Jenner's Coachella Endorsement ]]> In a bouquet of seasonal pastels, Spring 2025's biggest color trend is shaping up to be an earthy sage green. Chloé, Marni, and Prada all doused billowing dresses, structured blazers, and sharp heels in the soft hue on their runways. Since then, sage green has trickled down from the catwalks to celebrity circles, and now, Kendall Jenner’s Coachella wardrobe.

On Thursday, April 10, the model arrived at FWRD’s Coachella Kick-Off Party in Palm Springs wearing a modest Tove midi dress painted in a muted shade of sage green. The piece featured a high neckline, a sculpted bodice, and a floaty silhouette below the waist. Stitched with a streamlined construction, her no-frills dress embraced a strong minimalist appeal alongside the trending color.

To enhance her outfit, Jenner kept jewelry to a minimum and slipped into a pair of beige strappy sandals by The Row. She also carried the label's Amazon clutch in a shade of mocha mousse—which just so happens to be another viral color trend gaining favor among the fashion crowd this season.

While it hasn’t been confirmed, we can guess that Jenner’s warm-weather outfit was assembled by her trusty stylist Dani Michelle.

As for her glam, Jenner opted for her signature “clean girl” makeup look, consisting of subtle brown eyeshadow, sun-kissed bronzer, and a swipe of nude lipstick. To finish things off, the style icon pulled her dark brunette strands back into a sleek middle-part bun.

Jenner is no stranger to dabbling in seasonal trends. Just last week, she took spring’s leather bomber jacket trend for a spin. While attending the Concacaf Champions Cup in Los Angeles to support her hometown’s professional soccer club, Jenner teamed her chocolate brown leather layer with straight-leg jeans, a lengthy scarf, and a logo-embossed snapback hat. Her wardrobe has also supported the cherry red trend (with a preppy skirt by The Row) and doubly endorsed sage green, with a wrap coat after walking for Calvin Klein during New York Fashion Week.

Glimpsing at Kendall Jenner’s wardrobe is all the guidance anyone needs to find, and shop, major spring trends. Scroll on for several sage green dresses that resemble the model’s latest outfit.

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, and Gigi Hadid Ditched Designer Kicks for These Under‑$150 Sneakers ]]> Dressing like a celebrity has never been easier than it is right now. A-listers have been eschewing the fancier things in life (such as their favorite designer sneakers) in favor of affordable, trendy brands that offer options for $150 or less. As a frugal, sneaker-obsessed shopper, my interest has been piqued.

Whether it's Jennifer Lawrence sporting her favorite Adidas Tokyos for seemingly the hundredth time this month or Rihanna stepping out in her new lavender Puma Speedcats, you needn't look far for sneaker-shopping inspiration. Scroll through Instagram for just a second, and you'll see at least one pair to add to your cart guilt-free.

Even though my trendy sneaker collection is ever-growing, there's always room for a new pair of Vans or chunky Nike kicks like the ones Lawrence recently endorsed. She's just the latest to wear the pair, though: Kendall Jenner copied Kaia Gerber's Nike sneaker-centric workout outfit a few months ago. What they say is true: three does make a trend.

In any case, keep scrolling to see the rest of the affordable sneaker brands everyone in Hollywood is wearing right now. You can't go wrong, no matter what you choose.

The Adidas Tokyo

Jennifer Lawrence in New York City

The $100 Adidas Tokyo sneaker has become Jennifer Lawrence's obsession. The Silver Linings Playbook star has worn them weekly over the past month, demonstrating their must-have status in the process. Whether she styles them with a midi skirt and a butter-yellow spring jacket or with casual jeans and a trench coat, they are her most-worn pair right now.

Jenner deserves credit for the Adidas Samba sneaker trend that refuses to fade. Not only are they my personal favorite Adidas sneakers, but the eldest Jenner sister loves them as well. She has worn this style on and off since 2022, and if they aren't in your collection by now, they should be.

The Puma Speedcat

Only Rihanna can make a matching gray sweatsuit look cool and sophisticated. I attribute this to her lavender Puma Speedcat sneakers and her rare Louis Vuitton bag. The singer is just the latest celebrity seen in the sleek Puma style—Dua Lipa and Emily Ratajkowski are also fans—and I currently have a pair waiting in my online shopping cart.

Vans Old Skool

Speaking of Emily Ratajkowski, the actress and model has long admired the Vans Old Skool sneaker. Once limited to the skate park, this classic pair has become a favorite among fashion insiders. Furthermore, with the recent release of the Old Skool Premium Music Collection, the line is only becoming trendier.

Nike V2K Sneakers

Nike V2K Run sneakers may be experiencing a surge in popularity thanks to Jennifer Lawrence, but they have long been a favorite of Kaia Gerber. The model adores the $120 pair for their off-duty style and has incorporated them into her athleisure wardrobe since summer 2024.

Adidas Gazelles

Gigi Hadid

Hadid has single-handedly created a trend with her red suede Adidas Gazelles. This bold choice has become her go-to for days off, ideal for pairing with jorts on a hot summer afternoon or with leggings during a mid-week grocery run. Her specific pair is difficult to find (blame the Hadid influence effect), but there are several other similar colors available that you can choose to emulate her style.

<![CDATA[ I Asked Nordstrom’s Associate Fashion Director About 5 Can’t‑Miss Spring and Summer 2025 Trends—Here’s What She Told Me ]]> While spinning through Spring 2025’s whirlwind of runway shows, previews, and presentations, Nordstrom’s Associate Fashion Director Linda Cui Zhang took note of the freshly sprouting warm-weather trend report. Among countless cores and aesthetics, Zhang tells Marie Claire that several styles are forecasted to rise in popularity during the spring and summer months, some of which have already reached full bloom.

“The boho-chic renaissance, pioneered by Chemena Kamali, creative director at Parisian brand Chloé, put feminine dressing at the forefront during fashion week,” says Zhang. Other American-based designers, such as Altuzarra and Sandy Liang, embraced nostalgia with '60s-era mod staples, like structured shift dresses, tailored skirt suits, and the often controversial capri pants.

Some labels even decided to champion an outdoorsy lifestyle through their lineups. Ulla Johnson crafted longline vests resembling gardener uniforms, and Coperni showcased striped rugby shirts fit for competition.

Meanwhile, floral dresses and vibrant matching sets from Anna Sui’s vacation-worthy collection evoked daydreams of sunbathing on the Italian Riviera (with an Aperol Spritz in hand).

Ahead, Zhang dives into the top spring and summer fashion forecast, swiftly filling up Nordstrom carts. As temperatures continue to rise, these sizzling styles will also find their way into your wardrobe, so you might as well stay one step ahead.

Western-Boho Frenzy

Frilly lace blouses, ruffled dresses, and earth-toned accessories dominated several runways. “These romantic bohemian designs were balanced with rugged Western-inspired styles like sturdy jackets and bold hardware,” notes Zhang. Embrace the look with this free-spirited edit that features a soft yet edgy blend.

Practical Gardener

You don’t need a green thumb to embody the “practical gardener” aesthetic. Zhang explains that this outdoorsy trend is easily achievable through embellished utilitarian staples, sturdy handbags, durable clogs, and creative sun hats and shades.

“The look embodies a gardener's uniform that has been reimagined with an elegant sensibility,” Zhang explains. “Follow in the footsteps of Ulla Johnson, who captured the trend’s essence with functional pieces adorned with sophisticated design details.”

La Dolce Vita

“Allover prints, one-and-done dresses, and matching sets capture the spirit of a beachy ‘dolce vita’ vacation,” says Zhang. The fashion director notes that she first spotted this trend during Anna Sui’s Spring 2025 show. “I was drawn to Sui’s cheerful, maximalist approach to dressing for a warm-weather holiday,” she says. “Now, we’re seeing a growing demand for this aesthetic among our clients.”

Whether planning a coastal getaway or fantasizing about one, Zhang says, “Be sure to complete your look with flat sandals and a raffia bag (or jute)” to embrace the leisurely side of life.

Thanks to various ladylike labels, the fashion crowd is falling in love with whimsical mod dressing. “The Altuzarra show gently referenced symbols of '60s-era fashion with flouncy collars and pillbox hats,” says Zhang. “On other runways, there were sightings of capri pants styled with kitten heels, A-line mini dresses worn with sheer tights, and nipped-waist jackets paired with East-West bags.”

If you decide to embrace this delicate look, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, and Jackie Kennedy would surely approve.

With sophisticated shapes and soft details, Tory Burch and OpéraSPORT elevated their athleisure outfits with a high-fashion touch—track pants included. Zhang notes that other brands have also embraced this trend. “At the 3.1 Phillip Lim show, lace tops drew inspiration from American football jerseys, while pants mirrored traditional taekwondo silhouettes,” she explains. “Meanwhile, at the Coperni presentation, we got an up-close look at preppy rugby polos in vibrant shades, swimsuit jersey dresses, and nylon windbreaker jackets.”

Beyond the runways and showrooms, Zhang also noted sporty street styles, including "retro runners from Miu Miu and Puma that infused an athletic attitude into sharp, tailored looks."

<![CDATA[ This Cozy Hybrid Slipper-Shoe Trend Even Earned Hailey Bieber's Stamp of Approval ]]> I already know 2025 will go down in fashion history as the year of the Frankenshoe trend. Mash-ups of two popular styles combined in a single piece are everywhere I turn, whether on the sidewalks outside Marie Claire HQ or in the snaps of stars like Jennifer Lawrence (in Adidas), Kendall Jenner (in Uggs), and Hailey Bieber (also in Adidas) in Los Angeles. Ballet sneakers—hybrids of ballet flats and sporty trainers—ruled the first quarter. Now, a cross between a slipper and an outdoor slide will be the next inescapable shoe trend, since it just clinched Hailey Bieber's approval.

The model went for a smoothie run with husband Justin Bieber on April 9, dressed down in an oversize sage green hoodie and cut-off jorts. Mr. Bieber matched Hailey's laid-back energy with loose pants and a piece of his own tour merch. The couple both wore comfortable shoes for their sprint in and out of the shop: Justin chose rubber-soled clogs, while Hailey opted for olive green cloud slippers over equally plush socks.

Mules encased in the fluffy embrace of puffer jacket material aren't exactly new. Hailey Bieber's close friend Kendall Jenner first wore a North Face version of the same style in 2022 for a long weekend in the countryside. Her pair arrived right as fashion was undergoing a puffi-fication period, as inflated bags, jackets, pants, and shoes swept runways from Loewe to Acne Studios—giving down-to-earth puffers from The North Face, Ugg, and Aritzia a signal boost.

Hailey Bieber's exact take on the trend hadn't been confirmed at press time. (The contrasting sole and slim upper look to me like A.P.C's collaboration with Japanese shoe brand Subu.) But it's arriving as styles that resemble house slippers are returning to the outside world once again.

Brave Pudding has skyrocketed to "if you know, you know" status with a pair of outdoor slippers resembling fuzzy woven socks—except they've been updated with a sturdy, grippy sole. Cloud slides with winter-coat outers and puffed-up shapes are proliferating from a Marni x Hoka collaboration to Nike's shelves.

These walkable, insulated shoes are less of a fashion recession indicator and more of a sign that shoppers are seeking the comforts of home even when they're stepping out into the world. In this fashion landscape, even Hailey Bieber can't help bundling up.

<![CDATA[ Blake Lively Saddles Up to the Horse Girl Aesthetic in a Plaid Jacket and Cowboy Boots ]]> Bella Hadid may be fashion's designated horse girl, but I'm sure she'd agree there's room for more in the corral. And over the weekend, Blake Lively made a bid to join the equestrian sisterhood when she attended a horse riding competition with her husband Ryan Reynolds in upstate New York.

The actor is a notorious fan of themed dressing. (Remember when she cosplayed a flower garden for most of her It Ends With Us press tour?) Naturally, she put on her yeehaw best for the April 6 event. Lively was outfitted in shades of cool-toned blue, abandoning her beloved floral prints in favor of a checked plaid shirt jacket.

Her playful outerwear acted as a focal point for her look, layered with an oversize turtleneck sweater in a matching hue and a pair of straight-leg jeans underneath. Ever the fan of early-2000s denim trends, Lively selected a light-wash pair, which came cuffed at the ankles—a Millennial style icon at work.

Lively's footwear was all but predetermined by the horseback riding venue. Staying true to the Western theme, she finished off the 'fit with a pair of brown-hued cowboy boots, which featured an artsy patchwork print.

At first glance, this outfit might look like a departure from her usual embellished suiting. But the monochromatic look could easily be considered Blake Lively's sartorial signature. She loves a head-to-toe palette and regularly wears single-hued outfits—both on and off the red carpet. Royal blue, specifically, is one of the most-worn colors in her closet.

Blake Lively has been laying low in 2025, aside from a handful of press events for her next project, Another Simple Favor. Given the star's penchant for theme dressing, one has to hope her horse girl look is actually promo for a soon-to-be-unveiled film. Maybe it's an adaptation of Lyla Sage's TikTok-famous Rebel Blue Ranch book series? Lively's latest outfit definitely has the Western trend done and dusted.

<![CDATA[ The Jute Bag Trend Is Summer's Coolest Natural Accessory ]]> New seasons bring new trends to invest in. For summer 2025, the trendiest handbag style is also incredibly fitting: straw jute bags. They represent this year's iteration of the woven bag trend, providing shoppers with a beachy vibe without the need to book a trip to a distant city. Crafted from natural fibers with a hand-spun appearance, jute bags can easily double as the ideal beach bag.

But even if you're not carrying towels and sandals, these bags lend a relaxed, cool-girl aesthetic to your everyday outfits. With their all-American, summer-friendly ethos, brands like J.Crew and Banana Republic excel in this style. I envision them paired with linen pants, airy tanks, a preppy striped summer sweater draped over your shoulder, and chic strappy sandals. Still, Zara and H&M offer versions worth exploring. Their designs feature sturdier details like leather straps and trendy buckles, giving the laid-back silhouettes a city-ready toughness.

If you're ready to start shopping, keep scrolling. The selections on this list are perfect for having on hand over the next few months, so grab one before they become so popular that they sell out.

<![CDATA[ $1,150 Bottega Veneta Pumps Have Carried Tracee Ellis Ross Through Her Entire 'Black Mirror' Press Tour ]]> As fast fashion reaches an all-time high (and mid-level brands an all-time low), it's more important than ever to acknowledge the value of a signature accessory. Whether that's a one-of-a-kind vintage bag or a leather bomber jacket you wear on repeat (ahem, Hailey Bieber), everyone should own a singular item that sets them apart from the crowd. For Tracee Ellis Ross, that item is Bottega Veneta's Canalazzo Pump.

The $1,150 shoe style has been on repeat for the last week straight, as Ross promotes the newest season of Netflix's dystopian thriller series Black Mirror. Thus far, she's matched the glove-style heels with four separate outfits styled by Karla Welch—and the number just keeps growing.

The latest look came on April 9, when Ross stepped out for yet another stop on her New York City press tour. She was literally dressed head to toe in Bottega Veneta designs, with everything from her sculpturesque earrings (the $1,600 Ellipse) to her leather-clad shoes hailing from the luxury label.

This time around, Ross wore a burnt orange top trimmed with leather and a flouncy midi skirt, with Bottega Veneta's Small Arco Leather Tote. But when she first stepped out, the actor was dressed in a different look entirely.

Ross retained her accessories, but traded out everything in between. She wore a boxy button-down and a pleated high-low skirt from the brand's Spring 2025 runway—neither of which are yet available to the public.

Earlier that day, she wore a similarly oversized 'fit also from the brand. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Two days prior, on April 7, Ross was seen sporting the shoes once again. She wore them with two different looks on that day, too, starting out with a leather skirt set from Entire Studios.

Not long after, she swapped for another all-leather look, this time in noir. Though her dress was a Brandon Maxwell creation, Ross still styled it with her beloved Bottega pumps (and another Bottega Veneta bag, for good measure).

<![CDATA[ Zendaya Already RSVP'd to the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet ]]> The 2025 Met Gala red carpet is still weeks away. But anyone counting down until the May 5 event celebrating the "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" exhibit and "Tailored for You" dress code can now rest easy knowing Zendaya is planning to attend.

In a conversation with E! News on April 8, Zendaya's longtime image architect Law Roach confirmed his star client's "Yes" RSVP to the annual gala. "We are going to be on the Met Gala steps," he told the outlet.

Metaphorical sighs of relief swept through fashion immediately after. Zendaya has been a reliable presence at the event benefitting the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute since her first Met Gala in 2015—and she often puts in the time and research to fully commit to the theme. However, after commenting on the star's upcoming wedding to Tom Holland, Roach also confirmed this year's Met Gala appearance won't quite resemble the takeovers of years past.

Her second look featured a dramatic train and bespoke bouquet fascinator, fitting the "Garden of Time" dress code. (Image credit: Getty Images)

From her turn as Met Gala co-chair in 2024 (with three outfit changes throughout the night) to her luminescent Cinderella look in 2019, Zendaya and Law Roach have always walked up the museum's famed steps together. This time around, the pair is going their separate ways—at least where the grand entrance is concerned. "We’re doing our own thing this year," Roach revealed, "which is exciting."

Why the duo will debut their 2025 Met Gala looks separately is, so far, not clear. One thing is already certain: Their interpretations of the "Tailored to You" dress code will be some of the most highly anticipated of the night. Zendaya, after all, has only made one other red carpet appearance in the entirety of 2025. In January, she walked the Golden Globes red carpet in a tangerine Louis Vuitton gown and Jessica McCormack diamonds—specifically, her engagement ring from fiancé Tom Holland.

Zendaya attends the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton on January 05, 2025 in Beverly Hills, California.

How will Zendaya top her red carpet engagement debut at the Met Gala? Perhaps by walking arm-in-arm with Holland, in coordinating bespoke suits. Or, she could attend solo in a fresh interpretation of a blazer dress or three-piece set. (She test-drove similar looks on the Challengers press tour, after all.) There's less than a month until all will be revealed—let the predictions begin.

<![CDATA[ Emma Stone Officially Joins The Row's Army in a $1,550 Sweater and Celine Loafers for Dinner With Jennifer Lawrence ]]> One day, Hollywood's elite may tire of The Row's soft-spoken luxuriousness, but today is not that day. A quick temperature check will reveal that the brand is still going strong, with new A-list supporters emerging almost daily.

Last Thursday, it was Jennifer Lawrence in a four-figure leather coat. Then, on Sunday, Dakota Johnson was spotted wearing a graphic tee from the kid's section. And just yesterday, Emma Stone stepped out dressed a costly 'fit of her own—one that deserves a second look.

On April 9, the Poor Things actor went out for dinner with her best friend and fellow The Row fan, Jennifer Lawrence. She chose to sport Alaïa and Fendi for the occasion, leaving Stone to carry The Row's torch—and she rose magnificently to the challenge.

Stone channeled the brand's aesthetic to a T, debuting an understated look with a panic-inducing price tag. She wore black from head to toe, pairing up The Row's $1,550 Ophelia Sweater with a matching micro mini skirt.

Her accessories—a leather tote bag, sheer tights, and fringe Celine loafers—were all from the same color family. This left Stone's camel-colored suede jacket (not unlike the one Selena Gomez wore the day before) to act as the lone color pop of her otherwise monochromatic look.

The two wore basically wearing the same look, but in very different fonts (I'm talking Helvetica vs. Comic Sans). Both wore all-black basics, styled with outsized handbags and a statement jacket in a contrasting color. In terms of footwear, however, they couldn't have chosen more differently. Lawrence sported leopard-spotted flats while Stone wore chunky loafers. Even so, these two friends have mastered the art of couples dressing.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence Prescribes the Doctor Bag Trend With an Archival Fendi Tote and $1,250 Alaïa Flats ]]> Though the east-west bag trend is far from over, a new silhouette has already began picking up steam. Featuring dual top handles and a squat, but roomy shape, the doctor bag is primed to be fashion's next superstar. Just ask Jennifer Lawrence, who took a dose of the trend for an early-morning walk in New York City.

On April 9, Lawrence officially kicked off the spring season with what will surely become its most popular purse style. Her look was heavily archival, including a crimson red, fur-trimmed, silk kimono jacket and a top-handle doctor bag.

The creation hails from luxury brand Fendi and has a black leather outer with white contrast stitching. It's a beloved design Lawrence reaches for time and again, as an accent for her signature casual-cool style.

Jennifer Lawrence looks stylish in a red and black outfit while out for dinner with friends in bustling New York.

The Don't Look Up actor expertly combined new and old to create a look that felt one hundred percent unique. She paired the historic pieces with buzzy buys from present day, like wide-leg jeans and a pair of fashion's most coveted shoes. Lawrence went for a little print mixing moment, swapping her Nike and Adidas sneakers for leopard-spotted Alaïa flats. The spotted shoes delightfully contrasted her jacket's ornate floral motif.

Her exact pair—the Criss Cross Ballerina Flats—are defined by their sleek ballet-style silhouette and intersecting straps that inspired their name. As of now, they're are still fully shoppable in several colors.

Though her footwear is undeniably costly, Lawrence's handbag falls on the more affordable end. The exact same style is shoppable at second-hand luxury retailers like The RealReal and Vestiaire Collective for under $500.

Jennifer Lawrence last toted her Fendi doctor bag on house-visits to close friends throughout lower Manhattan while wearing a sweater by The Row and comfy Adidas sneakers. Her styling modernized the Victorian-era bag's centuries-long history of accompanying doctors on their rounds. In 2025, designers including Miu Miu, Tory Burch, and Ferragamo have also updated the look with sumptuous suedes and leather, embossed logos, and childlike charms fixed on the handles.

No matter the designer, Lawrence would probably agree this trend is the cure to a lackluster bag collection. Shop lookalike styles ahead.

<![CDATA[ Coach's Tabby Bag Will Go Viral Again With Laura Harrier's Stylish Stamp of Approval ]]> When the Coach Tabby bag first launched in 2019, it kicked off a years-long hot streak. After its rapid rise to fame—encompassing more than 34 million TikToks and dozens of celebrity fans—the brand began releasing one It-bag after another. Each style was even more popular than the last.

Several designs have competed for the title of Coach's best bag in recent years, ranging from the Bella Hadid-loved Brooklyn Tote and the Kisslock Clutch, to the retro Ergo bag (which I was personally influenced to buy) and their newest hit, the east-west Empire bag. Collectively, these pieces enabled the brand to climb back up the ranks—searches for Coach bags increased 361% in 2024, according to Lyst—and reassert its status as America's premier homegrown bag brand.

Somewhere along the way, though, the boxy Tabby fell to the wayside. But after a brief intermission, the style that started Coach's renaissance is taking its rightful place back in the spotlight.

On April 8, the Tabby bag returned on the arm of one Laura Harrier. The actor was photographed on the streets of Los Angeles, Coach's flap bag in hand. Hers was an updated version of the original style, which featured a shiny chain strap and a slightly larger frame.

Laura Harrier elevated her casual coffee run style with a Coach Tabby Bag while out in LA.

Harrier seemingly built the rest of her outfit around the Tabby, adding noir trousers and flats to match its black leather outer. She also wore a chrome bean necklace from Heaven Mayhem, which mimicked the silver hardware on her bag. Oval sunglasses and an espresso-hued moto jacket added final hints of contrast to her look.

Before other Coach bags rose in the spotlight, Harrier's Tabby style also found fans in Elsa Hosk, Camilla Mendes, and Ice Spice. Its latest sighting was decidedly low-key, but its influence will surely be felt across the industry. Mark my words: The Tabby bag is on its way back.

<![CDATA[ The Early-2000s Light-Wash Flare Jeans Trend Co-Stars in Jennifer Lopez's New Movie ]]> Jennifer Lopez is churning out glamorous outfits on the set of Office Romance, her upcoming Netflix romantic comedy. While her on-screen 'fits are undoubtedly stylish, I'm not convinced they weren't plucked straight from her actual closet.

Lopez kicked off the week with two looks, both clearly inspired by her personal style and preferred fashion trends. She first wore platform pumps, multiple beige wrap coats, and even sported Dior's Lady D-Joy bag—a play on her go-to purse style. Then on April 8, the pop star debuted yet another look that felt more canon than costume.

She was dressed casually for another day of filming, in loose-fit flare jeans (her favorite denim silhouette), white sneakers, and a cobalt blue New York Giants sweatshirt. Over top, the "Ain't Your Mama" singer layered on a knee-length marshmallow coat for added warmth in between takes.

Most women over the age of 30 have spent the last six months in shopping turmoil, as the early-2000s flare jean trend of our youth continues to tighten its grip on the fashion set. Spring 2025's biggest denim trends are filled with wide, sidewalk-grazing hems, arriving in lock-step with a boho fashion revival. Stars like Rihanna (wearing Celine flares) and Sydney Sweeney have swapped their all-around oversize denim for the trend's comeback. But of all the silhouette's fans, J.Lo is the one who's absolutely thriving.

The actor is one of Hollywood's biggest flare jeans collectors and has a long track record of wearing them for any and all occasions. She's paired them with everything from boho fringe and tweed blazers to her beloved Hermès Birkin. She also regularly doubles down on controversial denim trends, opting for flared styles in light washes—a rinse most labels have moved away from.

<![CDATA[ Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Lasso Matching Western Outfits for Their Latest Date Night ]]> Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are the unlikely celebrity pairing we've all grown to love. Mostly because they're absolutely obsessed with each other, but also because, until now, couples fashion was in the midst of a major drought.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are consistent performers, of course, but beloved duos like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce and Hailey and Justin Bieber have been notably quiet in recent weeks. Thankfully, newly-engaged Selena and Benny have been making non-stop public appearances, while promoting their new collab album I Said I Love You First.

On April 8, the pair spent date night at a Knicks game in New York City. The two were perfectly in sync, wearing matching Western-coded looks in the exact same color palette.

Each sported a camel-colored duster jacket and a pair of cowboy boots. For Gomez, that meant an expensive-looking suede trench coat, styled with matching Chelsea boots and faded blue jeans.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco wear matching coats as they leave after the Knicks game at Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 8.

Blanco, on the other hand, went for a dapper camel top coat with a baby blue button-down and his favorite cow print jeans. He, too, wore cowboy boots, but in glossy black leather. Gomez matched that energy, styling her own 'fit with a leather shoulder bag.

It's worth noting that coordinated couples' style, generally, is pretty tough to pull off. Going too matchy-matchy can feel juvenile. On the other hand, those who intentionally mismatch run the risk of becoming the internet's running joke (you know exactly who I'm talking about). These two, however, have their sartorial strategy down to a science. I genuinely don't know which look I like more.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber Brings Back the Bandage Dress Trend in a Cut-Out Saint Laurent Gown ]]> The stock market is in flux, Lady Gaga just dropped the song of the year, and red carpets are seeing an influx of bandage dresses. History really does repeat itself.

On April 8, Hailey Bieber attended the Fashion Trust U.S Awards 2025 in Los Angeles, dressed in recession indicator fashion at its most elegant. While the rest of Hollywood was busy reviving Ugg boots, bootcut jeans, and the Chloé Paddington bag, Bieber went for a 2008-era trend that dominated red carpets in the mid-aughts.

In lieu of her usual LBD or leather bomber jacket, the model chose a floor-length bandage dress, the likes of which "haven't been seen en masse since the first Obama Administration," as Marie Claire's Senior Fashion and Beauty News Editor Halie LeSavage so aptly put it. Hervé Léger was the first designer to go all-in on skintight, stretchy dresses in the late 1990s. By the mid-2000s, they became a bona fide trend with buy-in from the era's biggest stars: Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, and so on.

Though the number's bodycon fit and dusty mauve shade look authentically 2000s, Bieber's gown isn't an archival pull at all. It's actually a new release, designed by Saint Laurent's current creative director Anthony Vaccarello. He expertly utilized more modern details, like a long chiffon skirt and racy cut-outs, to make the relic feel more apropos of the time.

As usual, Bieber kept any additional styling to a minimum. She forwent the red carpet clutch that would have once accompanied such a look, styling only with a few diamond rings. Her hair, meanwhile was done in natural-looking waves, with barely-there makeup.

Bieber isn't the first to resurrect this long-lost trend. Kaia Gerber beat her to the punch, long before the tariff-induced financial panic. Back in September of 2024, the second-generation model sported an ivory bandage dress of her own—a recreation of her mother Cindy Crawford's 1993 Oscars look.

With recession-era trends making a large-scale comeback, I think it's safe to say we'll be seeing even more skintight bandage dresses before the year is up.

<![CDATA[ The Peep-Toe Shoe Trend Is Back—and Against All Odds, I’m Into It ]]> Among all the body parts to accentuate, fashion designers have recently taken a keen interest in the toe. They’re splitting pumps down the front and turning them into hooves akin to Maison Margiela’s cleft-toe Tabis. They’re sending out toe ring sandals with built-in bijoux and mesh flats that put your pretty pedicures on full display. According to the Spring 2025 runways, the peep-toe shoe is quietly stepping into position as one of the season’s biggest spring shoe trends.

Not everyone, however, will be thrilled that the party-in-the-front shoe is making a comeback—“toe cleavage” still isn’t for everyone. But before rushing to judgment, consider that designers are approaching this peek-a-boo style differently now. In an era defined by naked dressing, footwear is fashion’s final frontier as creatives work their way from head to toe. This time around, the peep-toe has a far sexier, more considered point of view than its early-aughts predecessors. Like a keyhole neckline or a strategic cut-out at the waist, there’s something undeniably alluring about a piece that reveals just a sliver of skin—or toe.

Tory Burch’s Spring 2025 collection was a prime example of the subtly sultry shoe trend in action: the American designer sent out peep-toe heels that flashed just three-quarters of the big toe—a flirtatious wink in footwear form.

The coy approach to peep-toes continued as Fashion Month progressed. Catherine Holstein of Khaite unveiled front-slit pumps that New York women instantly crowned their number-one in-the-know spring shoe. Acne Studios made its enthusiasm for toe-forward designs unmistakable, with slouchy knee-high open-front boots adorned in patent and florals. Meanwhile, Prada revived its frilled peep-toe platforms, first shown in Fall 2008, and at Miu Miu, Mrs. Prada doubled down on the toe-centric trend by showcasing cone heels with a missing chunk at the cap.

But designers didn’t stop at their springtime peepers. Fast-forward to the Fall 2025 runways, and sultry shoes were back in full force—think cutout knee-high boots at Prada, funky wedge sandals at Fendi, and ventilated mules at Victoria Beckham. One season might signal a playful, flash-in-the-pan moment. But a second, back-to-back showing? That confirms the trend isn’t just dipping a toe in—it’s got a firm foothold.

Followed by Fendi's peep-toe mules, which offer a cutesy glance at baby pink socks. (Image credit: Launchmetrics)

Street-style stars also help cement the peep-toe’s staying power. Katie Holmes has been spotted wearing open-toed heels to A-list events, Daisy Edgar-Jones brings Tory Burch’s flirtatious versions as plus-ones to parties, and Lady Gaga, ever the maximalist, leans into open-toed thigh-high boots for live show tapings.

And in addition to freeing your toes for the world to see, the peep-toe revival makes something else clear: in a trend cycle that moves at warp speed, the most unexpected styles often have the most lasting impact. Fashion has a history of embracing the divisive—ugly-chic sneakers, low-rise jeans, and the peep-toe is no exception. Given the opportunity, the industry will always fall head over heels for a controversial shoe that sparks conversation. So you might as well make peace with it—this trend isn’t going anywhere in 2025—and maybe book a pedicure, just in case.

Keep Perusing the Peep-Toe Shoe Trend

<![CDATA[ Ayo Edebiri Trades Spring Color Trends for a Red, White, and Blue Dress ]]> I pledge allegiance to the flag—sorry, I meant Ayo Edebiri.

The actor has been on a red carpet marathon the last few weeks, churning out look after stunning look in promotion of her latest film, After the Hunt. Though she's become a fashion darling in her own right, Edebiri has predominantly bucked current trends—for lack of a better word.

Despite the season, spring pastels and frilly dresses have been virtually nonexistent in the Opus star's wardrobe. Instead, stylist Danielle Goldberg has steered her client toward hyper-minimalist silhouettes, androgynous workwear, and bold primary colors. And Edebiri's latest look played right into this theme.

On April 7, she attended a New York City gala wearing a tiered creation by emerging designer Lii. The piece combined menswear-inspired cuts (a design trick the label is known for) with the vibrant colors of Americana. During a time when patriotic motifs can elicit mixed reactions, this take on the star spangled banner is one I absolutely stand for.

Edebiri's red, white, and blue gown has yet to hit stores, but the pumps she accessorized with are shoppable now. She chose a pair of glossy naked sandals from Gianvito Rossi, which cost $895 at retail.

Beyond her luxe footwear, the only other addition to the look was Edebiri's red-tinted power bob—which matched her 'fit perfectly, I might add.

Edebiri often keeps her red carpet beauty low-key in service of spotlighting emerging designers. She's also promoted indie labels like Commission and Colleen Allen at A-list events, both newcomers to the New York Fashion Week schedule in recent seasons alongside Zane Li of Lii. When she isn't going the indie brand route, her lineup is stacked with archival Prada and off-the-runway pieces by The Row.

No matter the label, this star takes the freedom to express herself seriously.

<![CDATA[ These Nike V2K Run Sneakers Are Jennifer Lawrence's New Street Style Obsession ]]> In a year like 2025, I was prepared to see recession fashion indicators everywhere I turned. What I didn't expect, however, was for Jennifer Lawrence to expand her sneaker horizons with a new-to-her brand. Some things are sacred!

The actor lives and dies by her Adidas sneakers. She owns virtually every design in almost every color—from their slim-fit Taekwondo and Tokyo styles to classic Sambas and several pairs of Gazelles. It would take a very special shoe to join Lawrence's wardrobe alongside her cherished three-stripes. Apparently, that special style is Nike's V2k Run sneaker.

On the morning of April 8, Lawrence took her usual stroll through the brisk streets of New York City. Her outfit was typical for the weather, with the star dressed in baggy jeans and a chocolate brown top coat, styled with a black beanie and scarf. What was unusual, however, were her running shoes.

With a black mesh outer and a metallic gunmetal trim, her Nike sneakers were straight out of the gorpcore playbook (a phrase I haven't uttered since 2017). There was no suede, no gummy sole, and no white stripes—frankly, I've never been so shocked to see the Nike swoosh in my life.

Lawrence's closet is a lesson in brand loyalty. She's otherwise attached to her Adidas collection, having only forgone it on the rarest occasions. There was the New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore collab and the Loewe Ballet Runner, which both inspired temporary pivots. And she wasn't immune to the Puma Speedcat Takeover of 2024, which held all of Hollywood in its clutches (and still does, to this day).

Though temptation won out this time, Lawrence will surely return to her one true love soon enough. While we wait for that moment to come, you can shop all her favorites ahead.

<![CDATA[ I’m Buying These Under-$100 Adidas Sneakers Over Every Other Designer Pair—Here’s Why ]]> As Marie Claire’s resident sneaker expert, I have a little secret: I’m obsessed with Adidas sneakers. At this point, it's nearly impossible to scroll through any social media platform for more than a few seconds without being inundated with It-girls styling their favorite trendy silhouettes. So, I took it upon myself to narrow down the brand’s massive selection to a few must-have pairs.

The Adidas craze didn't come out of nowhere. As Rachael Gentner, the director of active at the trend forecasting platform Fashion Snoops, pointed out, the blend of sporty and chic has been increasing for years—but it reached a new level last summer during the Paris Olympics, when "fashion and sports have never been more intertwined," she says. The brand ended the summer by partnering with insider-favorite brands like Willy Chavarria for his Spring/Summer 2025 New York Fashion Week show, unveiling a collaborative collection on the runway. Suddenly, the sneakers were not just for in-the-know editors but for everyone. A 2025 shopping surge was already anticipated.

Combine that with rave reviews from Marie Claire editors and a sudden surge of trendy celebrity endorsements, and you have a bona fide must-shop affordable sneaker trend. The Adidas Samba was once the go-to pair among the street style set—I should note that supermodels like Kaia Gerber and Kendall Jenner are still massive fans—but now the brand's It-shoe offerings have expanded. Just look at Jennifer Lawrence, who has been seen wearing the Taekwondo and Tokyo sneakers over the past several weeks. Gigi Hadid has also declared the Gazelle silhouette her personal favorite summer shoe.

Keep scrolling for the low-down on all the best Adidas sneakers money can buy. I don’t have any more room in my collection, so let this list inspire you to expand yours.

A Quick Look at the Best Adidas Sneakers

The Samba OG

Adidas OG Samba on a pink background.

The Adidas Samba is an all-time best-seller for a reason. (Image credit: Adidas)

Right now, if you picture an Adidas sneaker, you're likely envisioning the Samba. It's the shoe Gentner describes as having played "a pivotal role" in the rise of the sleek sneaker trend, to the extent that similar styles can now be found across the price spectrum, including in the designer sneaker market. I personally own a pair and can attest to their versatility. They're the definitive cool white sneakers in my collection and complement every outfit imaginable, from jeans and a tee to a pair of office-ready trousers and a blazer.

The Taekwondo

Adidas Taekwondo on a pink background.

The Taekwondo is the new shoe on the block. (Image credit: Adidas)

The Taekwondo is a newly launched (and under $ 100) silhouette that has caught the fashion set's attention. If the Samba kicked off the foot-hugging sneaker trend, then the Taekwondo takes it to the next level. The look also resembles a boxing sneaker but without the height.

The Tokyo

Adidas Tokyo on a pink background.

Adidas Tokyo sneakers are a fresh, retro-feeling option with mass appeal. (Image credit: Adidas)

The Tokyo is another retro-inspired pair vying for the Samba's crown. Jennifer Lawrence is clearly a certified fan, but I fully anticipate other A-listers to endorse the style in the coming months. Available in several color combinations, it provides a solution for those seeking a versatile style with a unique twist.

Marie Claire's Senior Fashion and Beauty News Editor Halie LeSavage fell in love with the style after covering it so often. "I finally hit 'Order' on a cream and black pair with plans to style them just like Jennifer Lawrence's: with loose-fitting pull-on pants and early spring sweaters, with longline trench coats—with everything, in other words. Sure enough, they arrived in an easy-to-match palette and a comfy (but not too bulky!) silhouette. I now say I've walked miles in Lawrence's shoes, and I don't regret it."

The Gazelle

The Gazelle makes the perfect work sneaker. (Image credit: Adidas)

While I have personally kept a pair of suede Gazelles in my collection since college, they have experienced a slower rise to fame compared to the other styles on this list. The oldest Hadid sister has worn them in the past, but I am still waiting for the Gazelle to have its true moment in the sun. However, this style is an excellent choice for an elevated work sneaker and comes recommended by Marie Claire contributor Kelsey Stiegman, who calls them her "ride or die" pair.

The Handball Spezial

Adidas Spezial on a pink background.

The Spezial comes highly recommended. (Image credit: Adidas)

Not one, but two Marie Claire staffers recommend the Handball Spezial sneakers. As Associate Commerce Editor Brooke Knappenberger states, "They offer enough cushioning for me to walk all across the city without any pain." This was quickly followed up in my Slack channel by a glowing review from Digital Director Jenny Hollander, who shares that she also owns a pair and is "obsessed" with styling them.

The SL 72 OG

Speaking of editor-recommended sneakers, Beauty Director Hannah Baxter quickly recommended the retro SL 72 OGs. "I already have these in red, and I’m obsessed," she says, further calling them "much more comfortable than the Samba" — a hot take! She is in good company, though. Bella Hadid was spotted in a similar red pair last summer and has been wearing the trendy brown version recently.

The Superstar

You can never go wrong with a pair of Adidas Superstars. (Image credit: Adidas)

Associate Director of Social Media Lucia Tonelli has long loved Adidas Superstar sneakers. "I got my first pair in the third grade; from that moment on, they became an annual purchase (made by my parents, of course), perfect for a rapidly growing kid," she says. "The classic black-and-white style goes with everything, the generous padding keeps my feet comfortable no matter how far I trek, and they last for years without much sign of wear."

<![CDATA[ Beyoncé Abandons Her 'Cowboy Carter' Aesthetic for a Posh White Blazer Dress at Her Cécred Beauty Event ]]> Method dressing has, in the past couple of years, become the red carpet norm. After the press runs of Dune Pt. 2, Wicked, and Barbie, it reached a fever pitch of near-ubiquity. And as a result, the concept has now stretched to other industries, with business-owners like Beyoncé dressing to match their product packaging.

On April 7, the pop star attended a beauty event celebrating her hair care line, Cécred, which officially launched at Ulta earlier this week. Like any good entrepreneur, she chose a look that mimicked the brand's famously minimalist components.

Beyoncé's themed attire included crisp workwear in varying shades of ivory. She wore a cream-colored blazer dress with satin lapels from Wardrobe.NYC, which she layered it over a white button-down and necktie. With the help of her longtime stylist, Shiona Turini, she then draped a matching duster coat over her shoulders for maximum impact.

On her feet, the "16 Carriages" singer wore ankle-strap pumps from Aquazzura and rounded out the 'fit with a pair of aviator sunglasses—a casual reminder that even in professional dress, Beyoncé is still the epitome of cool. Beyond that, the only other remnant of her signature Western style was her gold chrome manicure, which acted as a subtle nod to her gilded era.

Beyoncé went without a bag, choosing, instead, to finalize her look with a bottle of Cécred's Moisture Sealing Lotion. And that, my friends, is what you'd call "dressing for the business that pays you."

<![CDATA[ A Massive Celine Tote Bag Is Rihanna's Latest Luxury Replacement for a Carry-On Suitcase ]]> Even billionaires can't resist the appeal of a classic black tote bag. But when the billionaire in question is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, that tote has an impressive designer pedigree.

Rihanna touched down in Los Angeles after a trip to Paris on April 7. She traded her Repossi diamonds and Rick Owens dress for a Fenty Beauty launch party for a cozy leopard print travel set and her favorite trendy sneakers: the Puma Speedcat. But even her wild printed set and color-coordinating shoes couldn't pull focus from the absolutely massive Celine tote bag swinging from her hand.

From afar, it's obvious the Cabas AnaÏs Cuir Triomphe is a Celine-ified version of an all-time classic work or travel bag. It has laptop-friendly proportions and long straps that won't slip even on the biggest coats. (Like, say, Ri's famous YSL heart-shaped fur.) For anyone who's immune to recession fashion indicators and tariff-induced price hikes, it's the sort of impulse buy that will earn its cost-per-wear in no time.

Rihanna appeared to style hers like a replacement for an Away carry-on or Louis Vuitton duffle. It was the only bag in sight as she landed at the airport.

Rihanna's travel style playbook often involves stacking designer bags instead of carrying a single, standard suitcase. The last time she was caught in transit, she split her personal items between two Louis Vuitton bags and a Dior purse. Perhaps keeping track of all those tiny bags was a tall order even on a private jet—so she picked up her new Celine tote to consolidate.

Regardless of the "why," the "what" of this Celine bag is a swerve in Rihanna's bag collection. The star's stash of four-figure designer bags tends toward rare vintage pieces (like her fresh Louis Vuitton x Murakami Speedy) and hot-off-the-runway new releases (like her Dior D-Journey bag). Plain black totes, even with an embossed luxury logo on the side, feel downright minimalist in the context of her walk-in closet.

Rihanna was seen shopping at Bristol Farms in a light gray tracksuit and with a Louis Vuitton handbag.

Consider Rihanna's latest travel accessory confirmation: a designer black tote bag is worth the investment. (Especially when it can double as a travel bag.) Shop more options inspired by her Celine tote ahead.

<![CDATA[ Birkenstock Arizona Sandals Earn Dakota Johnson's Vote for Most Beloved "Ugly" Shoe ]]> What marks of the beginning of spring isn't in the weather outside, or the date on the calendar, or the behavior of an absurdly-named groundhog. The season only truly begins once the first pair of Birkenstock sandals has touched down on the pavement. Thanks to one Dakota Johnson, that moment has finally arrived.

On April 6, the Madame Web actor stepped out in Malibu, CA, wearing a casual-cool outfit befitting of the beach-front locale. Johnson wore slouchy black utility pants, styled with a white graphic tee from The Row. Straight out of the kids' section, the $370 style came with the brand's name scribbled, child like, across the front. (Her exact design is currently sold out, but there's an important lesson there: Designer goods are always cheaper in the children's department.)

Johnson's outfit hit a level of simplicity even the most practiced minimalist could only dream of, but she still kept the look feeling fresh with several well-chosen add-ons. She wore the newest iteration of Celine's viral gold-frame sunglasses and a pair of classic Birkenstock Arizona sandals—the ultimate chill-girl footwear.

Dakota Johnson was seen stepping out of a Malibu nail salon with a relaxed, low-key vibe.

Birkenstock Arizona sandals joined the brand's lineup back in 1973—and it's the label's best-selling shoe of all time. In spite of its name, Johnson's sandals could easily be considered the unofficial footwear of the state of California. Everyone—from Kendall Jenner and Selena Gomez to Katie Holmes, and even Barbie—has worn the iconic "ugly" shoe. It was introduced to Birkenstock's lineup back in 1973; a

Even among this elite list of supporters, Johnson's sandals still stand out. Hers were an elevated version of the hallmark shoe, which boasts the signature two-strap design, fitted with stylish silver statement buckles. As a longtime wearer of this exact pair myself, I can confirm: They're just as comfy as they look. Who cares what they look like when they feel this good?

<![CDATA[ Spring 2025’s Floral Prints Keep the Love Affair With Fashion Alive ]]> Fashion loves a flower, from Christian Dior's rosettes and Chanel's camellias to Mary Quant's coo-coo-ca-choo daisies and Laura Ashley's prairie patterns. The Spring 2025 runways planted a few more in fashion's metaphorical garden; Chloé's Chemena Kamali, for one, had a field day and showed bouquet-printed chiffon gowns and Chantilly lace bloomers that helped the boho trend revival bloom.

Spring's fresh-picked prints weren't exactly novel—or groundbreaking—but they well illustrated the industry's long-standing infatuation with florals. Loewe's hoop-skirt gowns in blush, ivy, and baby blue botanical prints looked similar to what upper-class ladies wore for promenades around Victorian-era England, while Erdem's see-through drop-waist dresses embroidered with wildflowers and crystal fringe were meant for modern-day flappers. Fashion history buffs will also note how Marni's Francesco Risso time warped back to post-World War II Paris; the creative director's rosette-patterned A-line skirts and scarf blouses were reminiscent of Dior's from the late-'40s, which revived romanticism in fashion after years of austerity and rationing.

But you don't need to be a capital-N, capital-F Fashion Nerd to enjoy this spring's references to floral prints across the decades. That's where Marie Claire's visual history lesson and trend breakdown comes in handy, leaving you to stop and smell—er, shop, rather—the roses in peace.

Victorian Florals

fashion history of florals in victorian era woman wearing floral dresses and at Miu Miu, Simone Rocha, Loewe Spring 2025

The Victorian era, which spanned Queen Victoria's reign over Great Britain and Ireland from 1837 until she died in 1901, was a monumental era for floral fashion. Led by the Queen's love for flora, women's gowns were detailed with hyper-detailed botanical prints. Fresh blooms were often integrated into daily wear, tucked into headpieces or held in silver bouquet holders.

The roses, peonies, and baby's breath motifs seen throughout Loewe's Spring 2025 paid homage to the epoch, while Miu Miu's naturalistic embroideries looked ripped from a floriculture textbook. Meanwhile, Simone Rocha took inspiration from the portable bouquets popular during the Victorian era—also known as "tussie-mussies" or "nosegays"—with carnations pressed between organza and carried in hand.

Art Deco Flora

the history of floral prints in fashion, 1920s and 1930s imagery and at Valentino, Michael Kors Collection, and Erdem Spring 2025

Valentino, Michael Kors Collection, and Erdem's shows carried traces of the early 20th century florals, particularly its sleek silhouettes and adornments. (Image credit: Getty Images/Launchmetrics)

Recognizable by sleek motifs, bolder outlines, more geometric interpretations, and embellished with flashy sequins, Art Deco-inspired florals flourished across spring's runways. Erdem Moralioglu had Roaring Twenties muses on the mind; the Erdem designer cited Radclyffe Hall, a prominent literary figure of the early 1900s, as inspiration and set the scene well with sensual, flapper-esque gowns stitched with flowers. Meanwhile, at Michael Kors Collection and Valentino, flowery lace and rosette silhouettes called back to the art movement.

Post-WWII Prints

The spirit of Audrey Hepburn in 'Sabrina' and Dior's historic Amour dress was felt on Carolina Herrera, Jil Sander, and Marni's Spring 2025 runways. (Image credit: Getty Images/Launchmetrics)

Pioneered by Christian Dior's iconic 1947 'New Look' collection, fashion in the period after World War II saw a return to romanticism after years of rationing and utilitarianism. This attitude manifested in lush and voluminous rosettes, prints with bigger blooms, and petal-like forms emphasizing a woman's waist. You'll find the same feminine and garden-inspired details in Carolina Herrera, Jil Sander, and Marni's spring showings.

Flower Power

Free love! At Bally, Versace, and Valentino, eye-catching florals in bright colorways and hippie-inspired prints called back to the 1960s. (Image credit: Getty Images/Launchmetrics)

A pendulum swing away from the ‘50s prim-and-proper style, ‘60s fashion celebrated daring color combinations and free-spirited fun, which manifested in bright daisy prints and colorful clusters of wild flowers. The collections from Bally, Versace, and Valentino felt like a continuation of the decade’s uninhibited flower power mood, with prints in every possible spring color combination and stark graphic outlines.

Prairie Patterns

Alongside sharp shoulder pads and puffball bubble skirts, prairie dresses detailed with simplistic flower motifs were a defining fashion trend of the ‘80s. Credit for the country-inspired look largely goes to British heritage brand Laura Ashley, whose floral frocks were a favorite of Princess Diana of Wales and captured the period costuming of The Little House on the Prairie, a smash-hit series during the decade. Chloe, Miu Miu, and Prada gave '80s-era prairie prints a modern refresh by integrating the punched-up pastels of spring 2025’s color trends and foregoing puff sleeves and Peter Pan collars.

<![CDATA[ Trump's Tariff Chaos Forces Women-Led Brands to Strategize and Adapt—Fast ]]> Sali Christeson, founder and CEO of the women's workwear brand Argent, wasn't tuned in when President Trump unveiled his "Liberation Day" tariffs last Wednesday, April 2, but it didn't take long for the news to hit her text messages with the same jolt that shook the global stock market.

The executive tells me she spoke with at least twelve other founders, specializing in everything from casual wear to ballet flats, within the first day of the announcement. Internally, a "dark cloud" hung over her meetings with Argent's suppliers and team members. Christeson and her fellow business owners saw critical suppliers for their labels on the long list of countries subject to so-called reciprocal tariffs, including Vietnam, China, Cambodia, and European Union nations like Italy and France—and realized that business was about to become more challenging than ever.

"My conversations are all just like...what the f–ck?" Christeson says. "We really are a small community, especially female founders. We're constantly doing risk mitigation. That is our entire existence." Navigating the Trump administration's tariffs—a campaign trail threat framed as retaliation against other countries and "medicine" for the United States—has proven more difficult, with little advance warning and tangled global supply chains to reassess. "We're still getting our arms around it. The challenge right now is that so much is in flux that has very real implications for us from a business perspective."

The government should play a more productive role in our success. They should not take away from our ability to thrive.

Sali Christeson, founder of Argent

Brands like Argent—independent and women-led—stand to lose significantly as major fashion sourcing regions face extensive taxes whenever they go into effect. (The tariffs were initially set to hit on April 9, but President Trump announced a 90-day pause beyond a 10 percent baseline tax.) Remember, tariffs are paid by the importing company, not the country from which the goods originated. With the United States importing approximately 98 percent of clothing and 99 percent of shoes, according to the Business of Fashion, every corner of the industry will pay up in one way or another. Most likely, by raising prices for consumers, whether or not the designers want it to happen.

Rebekah Kondrat, managing partner of the retail expansion agency Rekon Retail, describes the tariffs as a "tipping point" for women-led brands. They may have been on a trajectory toward opening stores or expanding their audiences, but even the best indie brands lack the same margins as global powerhouses like Nike, Gap, or H&M. Multinational corporations have the flexibility to absorb tariffs before passing costs on to consumers or completely changing vendors. Decade-old shoe and handbag brands with a single storefront do not.

"Women-owned brands are already starting from a [disadvantage]: they don't get as much capital, they don't have as much clout with vendors," Kondrat explains. Before the tariffs, these labels were fighting for a mere two to three percent of all venture funding. Growth required effort, and every dollar mattered. Now, "These brands are going to be hit pretty hard because, of course, all the components, textiles, and everything come from a region that is heavily tariffed. This situation does not bode well for some of these more bootstrapped brands."

One brand stands out: Labucq, a footwear label known for its chunky boots and sculptural flats, all handcrafted in Tuscany, Italy. Their unique selling point—Italian heritage infused into founder Lauren Bucquet's aesthetic—now costs them a 20 percent tax on all European Union exports. She spent six to eight weeks exploring potential tariff outcomes with her team. While she believes the uncertainty was worse than the actual announcement, it nonetheless caused a fundamental shift in her brand. "It's existential. It changes absolutely everything," Bucquet states.

A similar story is unfolding at M.M.LaFleur, where founder Sarah LaFleur states that one hundred percent of her products are made overseas. And at Freja, an emerging handbag brand with operations already so lean, founder Jenny Lei doesn't see any way to lower costs further. She hopes that planned launches of more premium items will make price increases seem worthwhile, since the value is rising along with the actual cost.

Adjusting to a timeline that founders didn't choose is neither easy nor welcome. "These were not costs we forecasted in our budget," LaFleur says. "With ample notice, these are changes we could have worked through. But the suddenness of it leaves very little room to maneuver except increasing prices and cutting costs."

"I think the reality is sinking in now: we’ve built our entire model on something that isn’t resilient," says Beth Esponnette, co-founder and chief product officer of Unspun, a fashion manufacturing company that specializes in localized, 3D weaving technology. Unspun not only produces some of its own garments but also licenses its equipment to clients worldwide who are looking to reduce emissions and fabric waste. By design, it's less exposed to risk, yet it sources yarns and other components from abroad.

Esponnette explains that the even bigger issue is "how these tariffs impact the brands we partner with. In the past few weeks, we’ve had 15 brands, ranging from global giants to smaller independents, reach out to us asking how to diversify and mitigate risks in their manufacturing," she notes.

One reason tariffs were introduced, according to the Trump administration, was to encourage more "Made in America" products. But adjusting to a new economic reality isn't as straightforward as moving production back to the United States. Workers must be trained, and facilities must be constructed. Many of the raw materials required for certain brands' standout products simply aren't sourced here. (For example, the silks used in some Argent blouses, which can only be produced in China.)

A number of labels cut and sew their pieces in workshops in New York City or Los Angeles, but they have no option other than to import the fabrics. Ergo, they're impacted by tariffs. That's the case with Argent, as Christeson says: "Maybe 40-50% of our business is American-made, so the fact that we are so severely impacted is really disheartening."

Adjusting to tariffs will hinder more than just the clothes' production; they'll affect the entire shopping experience. Kondrat states that clients are requesting store builds that exclusively source domestic production, but the components for shelving, fitting rooms, and clothing racks also have to come from somewhere. "Pretty much all lumber in the US comes from Canada, all mechanical components come from China, and a lot of textiles come from China," she explains. "You can't get away from it: Even if you do produce in the US, your raw components come from outside the US, so it is a little bit unavoidable. "If domestic manufacturing is the future, it will take a long time for a new footwear brand or manufacturer to catch up," Bucquet says. "The infrastructure in the US is just not set up to support it."

We’re being told to move production home, but no one’s giving us the tools to actually do it. We’ve done it with [electric vehicles], solar, and semiconductors, and subsidized the establishment of these industries, too—why is apparel always left behind?

Beth Esponnette, co-founder of Unspun

Nearly every business owner interviewed by Marie Claire expressed a sense of frustration about the entire situation. Countrywide, Christeson says, "It's all self-inflicted problems we'll face." Economists agree: The predicted recession heading for the United States this year could be a result of the new tariffs, according to Bloomberg.

In the aftermath, "My concern is that the burden is falling on brands—especially smaller ones who have the least margin to absorb extra costs," Esponnette says. "At the same time, there has been almost no investment from the government to support domestic manufacturing. We’re being told to move production home, but no one’s giving us the tools to actually do it. We’ve done it with EVs [electric vehicles], solar, and semiconductors, and subsidized the establishment of these industries, too—why is apparel always left behind?" Christeson also wondered why the government hadn't offered grants or sufficient warning to support new infrastructure if relocating apparel production to the United States was such a priority for the current administration.

Kondrat says the long-term effects on women-owned labels are still hard to predict. Given remaining uncertainty over how long tariffs would stay in effect—and a bipartisan proposal to axe them entirely—double the founders who participated in this article declined to comment on it. Similar to the COVID-19 crisis, there could be widespread layoffs and store closures as brands struggle to manage increasing costs. Nevertheless, every business owner and operator who spoke with Marie Claire agreed it's hardly time to throw in the towel.

"For me, it's a lot more about looking forward to seeing what opportunities lie ahead," Lei says. The United States is now Feja's biggest market, but international expansion has always been a priority for boosting profitability. Plus, the label has navigated tough times before, with a growing fanbase to show for it. "We survived our first year trying to sell a work bag in the midst of a global pandemic, and we will survive this," she says.

In a fast fashion, instant gratification-dominated market, gaining shopper support for one of the most immediate effects- higher prices- is a challenging endeavor. Bucquet states that her brand's followers have largely been supportive of her recent announcement. There have been complainers, too, but she brushes them off. "It’s not important to me how people feel about it, what’s important is how our market reacts to higher prices," she says, "and whether we can sustain a healthy business going forward."

Christeson sees a silver lining in the collective realization Americans are experiencing as they watch the news unfold. Finally, the general fashion public is beginning to understand how challenging it is to start, let alone maintain, a footwear or apparel brand. But that's not yet enough to outweigh the still-unknown effects of tariffs. It currently feels as though brands are being set up to fail. "The government should play a more productive role in our success. They should not take away from our ability to thrive. We're employing people, we're growing a company, we're bringing so much to our local and national economy," she says.

In an ideal world, her female founder group chat would focus more on upcoming collections and store expansions. "Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that we would have to contend with decisions that are very detrimental to American businesses." For now, they're planning as best they can—and pushing forward together.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Styles Her $5,600 Lady D-Joy Dior Bag With a Taco Truck Burrito ]]> With President Trump's crippling tariffs in full swing, even the one percent are cutting back. Earlier today, Jennifer Lopez was spotted on the streets of New Jersey buying a lunchtime burrito from a taco truck. Granted, it was for a scene in her new Netflix movie Office Romance, but the sentiment still stands.

Ordering messy street food may feel like a departure from Lopez's usual persona, but she did it in the most J.Lo way possible: in head-to-toe designer. Though she's technically dressing for the part (she plays Jackie Cruz in the upcoming rom-com), her on-screen costuming is almost a carbon-copy of her IRL wardrobe. Thus far, her filming 'fits have consisted of the usual Lopez favorites: cream-colored wrap coats, posh suiting, platform pumps, and designer bags.

On April 7, Lopez was photographed wearing a greige trench, paired with suede Christian Louboutin pumps and one of her favorite handbag styles. She clutched a burrito in one hand and a $5,600 Lady D-Joy bag in the other. The east-west purse is Dior's latest take on their Princess Diana-inspired Lady Dior, a style Lopez sports regularly.

That same day, Lopez was spotted filming a different scene, this time dressed all in white. She had on a similar trench-style coat, which was layered over a matching white pantsuit. This look was likewise paired with Lopez-approved accessories, including: a black Dior bag, platform pumps, and a hefty gold statement necklace.

<![CDATA[ Sydney Sweeney Makes the Humble Pantsuit Feel Decidedly NSFW With a Leather Corset and Exposed Bra ]]> Women's pantsuits get a bad wrap. Though they're typically analogous with workplace dress codes and Hillary Clinton, the professional staple is actually incredibly versatile. Yes, they are great for business casual occasions, but they can also feel elevated and—well, sexy—when done right. Sydney Sweeney's latest 'fit is the perfect example.

Over the weekend, the Anyone But You star attended the Hollywood Beauty Awards in Los Angeles alongside her hair stylist, Glen Oropeza. Naturally, her rich-girl blonde hair was at peak performance, cascading over her shoulders in voluminous waves. Though beauty was the theme of the evening, Sweeney's outfit was still the main character.

The actor was outfitted in a two-piece suit from Elisabetta Franchi's Fall 2025 collection. With a rich, chocolate hue and '70s-era flared pants, the look was decidedly office appropriate—at least, until her stylist, Molly Dickson, added a few select lingerie-inspired details.

Paying homage to the co-ords' original runway styling, Dickson finished the look with a half-corset made of glossy, patent croc skin and matching pumps. The boudoir favorite worked overtime to cinch Sweeney's waist, while adding a dose of provocativeness to an otherwise traditional suit. She further played into this theme with a black lace bra that peeked out from behind the blazer's low-cut neckline.

Sweeney's espresso-tinted look coordinated perfectly with Oropeza's likewise coffee-colored ensemble. He, too, wore a brown suit with luxe details to accept the SS Hairstyling Award.

Together the two painted a very clear picture: Pastels are officially cancelled—and chocolate brown is the color trend of the season.

<![CDATA[ Rihanna Dresses Down Her Rare Louis Vuitton x Murakami Speedy Bag With Lavender Puma Speedcat Sneakers ]]> Insiders like to say "there are no rules, when it comes to fashion"—and that mantra applies to everyone. But it's especially true for Rihanna. The pop star is immune to the sartorial regulations the rest of us live by. Most would never dream of pairing one of the rarest designer bags money can buy with a casual sweatsuit—but when you're Rihanna, nothing is off the table.

On April 7, the mogul was photographed while grocery shopping in Los Angeles. She wore everyone's favorite "running errands" 'fit, in a simple heather gray sweatsuit and sneakers. A Puma girlie through and through, she paired it with lavender Speedcats, fitted with a contrasting white tongue. That, however, is where any relatability ended.

She styled the look like a true billionaire, tacking on one of Louis Vuitton's most coveted archival designs: the fabled Murakami Speedy bag. Playing off the pastel hue of her sneakers (not to mention their name), Rihanna's bag of choice featured the collab's hallmark candy-colored monogram printed on jet black leather.

Of course, hers had the Speedy's signature duffel design, but with an additional cargo pocket and metallic corner guards inspired by Louis Vuitton's iconic trunks. It was a timely choice, given that the label just recently launched a collection of Louis Vuitton x Murakami remakes (including a similar Speedy style), honoring the original collab.

Rihanna was seen shopping at Bristol Farms in a light gray tracksuit and with a Louis Vuitton handbag on April 7.

The look marked the second time in only a couple days that the mogul used a museum-worthy luxury bag to level-up normie staples. One day prior, Rihanna wore a snakeskin bomber jacket with her favorite Kendrick Lamar-inspired Celine flare jeans. She finished with matching snakeskin boots and yet another coveted handbag, from Gucci's Tom Ford era. It also featured a snakeskin outer, effectively tripling her outfit's animal print quota.

Rihanna looks stylish as she rocks a baggy jacket enjoying a late-night dinner with a friend at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica. The singer is chic in Celine Flair jeans, made famous by Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl. She also wore a gray patterned jacket with semi-matching heels on April 6.

Over the weekend, she repurposed her Celine flares with a whole lot of snakeskin. (Image credit: Backgrid)

Consider this your sign to shop more vintage bags. As Rihanna proves, they can level up anything—even a sweatsuit.

<![CDATA[ Adrienne Warren's "Real Voice" Comes Alive in 'The Last Five Years' and Her Loewe Premiere Dress ]]> Welcome to The Close-Up, where the biggest names in entertainment explain the story behind their latest personal style statement.

The long-awaited opening of The Last Five Years on Broadway feels a little like a holiday for Tony Award-winner Adrienne Warren. There are party dresses and photo ops, not to mention plenty of buzz, heightened, in her case, by the show's 24-year journey to becoming a fully-fledged Broadway production. Before stepping onto the stage in character as Cathy, a flailing actress and one-half of the couple who will fall in and out of love seven times a week through June 22, Warren planned to hand out presents to the cast and crew. "I told Nick [Jonas, her costar], it's going to feel like Christmas for his first opening on Broadway," Warren says a few hours before walking the red carpet.

But Warren's April 6 opening night isn't your typical celebration—even for A-list-centric events. Other stars sit back and watch their hard work unfold on a screen during their premiere night. On the other hand, Warren performs a 90-minute show for her closest friends and family in the audience. "You try not to get too excited because we also have to tell this very intense and beautiful story, in the middle of it—and then go and party," Warren laughs. "It's a very interesting cycle of a night."

It's an event where tears are guaranteed, accompanied by a crescendoing score and a gut-wrenching script. The Last Five Years became a global musical theater phenomenon partly because it is so relatably and recognizably heartbreaking. (Cathy opens the show with "Still Hurting," an iconic breakup ballad about the end of her marriage.)

On Warren's schedule, the step-and-repeat serves as her warm-up before going onstage—and comfort is prioritized more than on other carpets. (Translation: You won't see any cinched-in corset dresses here.) "I don't want to put anything that makes me feel restricted or uptight because my muscles need to be relaxed because I have to get ready to perform," she explains. "I need to be able to, like, drop into my body and give this performance."

She and stylist Shiona Turini found an equally relaxed and regal dress from Loewe for the occasion. It resembles one artfully folded and draped piece of tangerine material, cascading in sections over Warren's shoulders to meet at her navel in a deep plunge neckline secured with a gold-plated buckle. Underneath, a skirt in the same vibrant shade fell just above her knees, with a front-facing train grazing her pointed-toe heels.

Doing a show like 'The Last Five Years' where it is quite heartbreaking, it's nice to put on something that feels like sunshine and joy.

Pulling it on in fittings before the show, the star immediately lit up. Its shade was an antidote to the emotional rollercoaster she experiences onstage. "Doing a show like The Last Five Years, which is quite heartbreaking," Warren explains, "it's nice to put on something that feels like sunshine and joy."

The dress's "sexy and chic" lines were also Warren's nod to New York, representing her interpretation of Cathy, a character portrayed in a film adaptation by Anna Kendrick and by numerous actresses in off-Broadway productions. "She's a little artsy and a little rock and roll," Warren says. In New Yorker terms, "She's a girl that lives in Harlem but also moved to the Upper West Side, you know what I mean?" asks Warren.

Loewe follows a press run in which Warren and Turini have also sampled Ferragamo LBDs and shimmering silver mesh dresses over matching satin pants. All of these pieces are intended to convey how much the actress, now in her thirties, has grown up since her first Broadway musical in 2012 (Bring It On).

In previous roles—like her 2020 Tony-winning performance as Tina Turner—Warren hasn't gotten to bring her entire self onstage. "I haven't even been able to use my own voice in shows for years because I've been playing so many different characters," she says. "But in this character, Cathy, I get to actually just be me. I get to use my voice. So we wanted to go in that direction with our fashion for press so far—just be Adrienne and enjoy everything that that is."

After Warren's final bow onstage at the Hudson Theatre, she planned to change out of her costume and right back into her Loewe dress. Forget about a separate after-party look—the original dress is her own opening night gift that keeps on giving. "You know what? It just feels good, and it's the exact dress I'm going to want to put on afterward."

<![CDATA[ I've Been Collecting Watches for Years—These 16 Are Actually Worth the Splurge ]]> Friends! I’m writing to you bright and early from my kitchen table, fresh off a few days in Geneva at Watches and Wonders with the wonderful folks from Hermès. As I’ve mentioned before, I got into watches during the pandemic and have picked up a few of my own over the years. This was my first time at W&W, though, the week-long event where brands like Hermès, Cartier, Tag Heuer, Rolex, Chanel, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget, and many others gather to show off their new designs for the upcoming year. Editors like myself, store buyers, collectors, and content creators alike geek out over what’s to come—then flit off back to their respective countries high on watch complications and days of debating whether the Rolex Land-Dweller really was the hottest new launch of the week.

All this chatter left me thinking about where women watch lovers fit into the game. I wouldn’t say I felt out of my element, but one would be blind if they didn’t notice the industry is a male-dominated space, not just in who is calling the shots but in the design offerings for potential clients. Which is why I was happy to see that Hermès doubled down on the Cut, the house’s first sports watch for women, with its Le Temps Suspendu styles. First introduced in 2011, the Suspendu complication allows the watch to be stopped with the single press of a button. (You can see how it works here.) My friend Will called it a “Do Not Disturb” button for your timepiece. The funny thing is that the watch doesn’t actually stop ticking behind the scenes and will restore right back to the current time by pressing the button again. My favorite, the Le Temps Suspendu with the red dial, was a real highlight of the fair for me. “Lots of people will do red dials,” Philippe Delhotal, creative director of the house’s watches division, told me, “but this specific red is quite beautiful. I took a lot of time finding the right red.”

Inspired by all the watch talk, I thought about you guys, and the question I get most about timepieces: What should my first watch be? An extremely subjective question, similar to asking about the best jeans. Brynn Wallner, the founder of Dimepiece, a platform dedicated to all things women and watches, suggests prioritizing versatility. “It's probably the most expensive thing you've ever bought, at least it was for me when I bought mine, so I purposely bought something that could take me from day to night, would look good with all of my outfits, and could be dressed up or dressed down,” she says. “You really want this watch to do the job, so it has to go with your style.”

Resist the urge to follow trends or buy a watch just because it has a high resale value, Wallner advises. “If this is your first watch, what you want is something that you're gonna wear. Do your research and you'll be happy that you spent the money.” Ahead, I started the search for you with my favorite watches at every price point.

MONDAY:

Cocktails with Hermès to kick off our trip together! I went with my classic combo of navy and black, a chic duo I return to again and again.

TUESDAY:

Watches and Wonders fair day! There’s no dress code for the Palexplo (the convention center where the fair takes place), but I knew there would be lots of guys in suits and ties, so I wanted to go with something that was at the very least business casual. At night, Hermès hosted an exclusive dinner so, again, I chose something that was dressy but not over the top. I wore the same black pants and heels as the night before, but I swapped in a different blouse.

WEDNESDAY:

Flew back from Geneva in the same outfit I wore on the flight there a few days prior. I had to sprint through the Paris airport (both times!) to make my connecting flight, so I’m very happy that I was wearing these Nike sneakers. As expected, the Nili Lotan pants were as comfortable as sweats, but much lighter and perfect to wear during in-between moments.

<![CDATA[ Chelsea's New Zodiac Necklaces Predicted the Heartbreaking 'White Lotus' Season 3 Finale Ending ]]> This story contains extensive spoilers for The White Lotus season 3, episode 8, “Amor Fati.”

Though Chelsea's demise may have been a shocking final plot twist for most White Lotus season 3 viewers, fashion and astrology girlies saw it coming from a mile away. As with any fashionable TV series, the signs were there, hanging around her neck for all to see.

I mean that literally. In the 90-minute-long Season 3 finale, "Amor Fati"—which translates to "love of one's fate," a Stoic mantra that encourages not only accepting what life brings, but loving it, including pain and loss—Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) wears two necklaces depicting Zodiac symbols. The title alone was a clear indicator of tragedy to come. Her jewelry only emphasized that message.

In Episode 8, Chelsea wears a trio of yellow gold necklaces, each littered with dark symbolism. Her stack included a rectangular pendant from the previous episode, which says "Stay Golden," as well as two new additions: Pisces and Leo constellation necklaces. The first design already went viral for its deadly implications (watch the video here), but Chelsea's dual Zodiac charms are what truly foreshadow her fate.

Weekly watchers will remember that Pisces and Leo actually have nothing to do with Chelsea's star sign—or even Rick's. She's a vibrant, passionate Aries, while Rick is a classic Scorpio (private, stubborn, and moody). Its the ancient origin stories of Pisces and Leo that tie into Chelsea's tragic plot line.

In Greek mythology, the story of Pisces sees Aphrodite and her son Eros (Venus and Cupid) fleeing from Typhon, a dragon-headed monster from the underworld. In order to escape, they transformed into fish (hence the sign's twin symbol) and flee into the river for safety. All these years later, the two live in the sky as the Pisces constellation.

While Pisces's origins have themes of love and unity, Leo's tale is one of death and survival. As the story goes, Hercules was ordered to kill the Nemean Lion, which had been terrorizing the the land it was named for. Weapons were useless against its impenetrable hide, so Hercules was forced to slaughter it with his bare hands, freeing the maidens it had imprisoned.

The ancient tale is not unlike Rick's White Lotus character arc. In the last episode, he finally succeeds in killing the man he believed had murdered his father. After a shoot-out with the hotel guards, the damsel of his own story was caught in the crossfire. Unlike the women in the story, however, Chelsea was inevitably freed to the heavens.

Similar to Hercules, Rick's plot line culminated in a violent power struggle of dominance and ego (two traits Leos are known for). In the end, both he and his beloved took to the water, fleeing this life as one. "Together forever," just as Chelsea predicted.

<![CDATA[ Gwyneth Paltrow Pairs a Minimalist Donna Karan Dress With Barely-There Makeup ]]> Gwyneth Paltrow just proved less is always more in a white strapless gown and barely-there makeup. On Saturday, April 5, Paltrow wore the pared back outfit on the red carpet for the Breakthrough Prize, a ceremony honoring "the stars of science," which was attended by a plethora of Hollywood stars.

The Goop founder recently showed the boho-chic revival is for minimalists in an in-demand sheer sweater dress. Keeping her red carpet outfit similarly minimal, Paltrow opted for a strapless white gown from Donna Karan's 2015 resort collection. The Oscar-winner—who is styled by Elizabeth Saltzman—accessorized her dress with Santoni footwear and Messika jewelry.

Wearing pink lipstick, subtle mascara, and a hint of blush, Paltrow's restrained makeup showcased her impeccable complexion.

During an interview with Vogue, in honor of her 50th birthday, Paltrow reflected on her approach to beauty and aging. "Because in our Western capitalistic culture, we have conflated youth and beauty and we have very little outside of that margin to explore," the actress told the outlet. "Maybe it's because I have wrinkles and I'm almost 50 years old, but I've really recalibrated the way that I look at that stuff."

Paltrow subsequently shared her belief that she'd "earned her wrinkles," saying, "I don't relate to a 26-year-old model. I don't want her life. I don't want her face. I don't want her experience. I've earned my life. I've earned my wrinkles." She continued, "I have been through so many highs and lows, and there's a sweetness that starts to emerge from that, from having lived, from being wise, from being humble, from loving and losing and all of this stuff."

It was recently reported that Paltrow supports Duchess Meghan's Goop-style reinvention, and the pair quashed any semblance of a feud during a Q&A on Paltrow's Instagram Stories. Paltrow was asked, "Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?" She responded by saying, "I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever." Paltrow then turned to another person, revealed to be the Duchess of Sussex, and asked her, "Do you understand this?" Meghan started to laugh, after taking a bite of pie, showing that the pair might be new friends rather than bitter enemies.
