<![CDATA[ Latest from Marie Claire ]]> https://www.marieclaire.com 2025-04-14T23:56:44Z en <![CDATA[ Meet the Cast of 'Resident Playbook' ]]> After a long wait, Resident Playbook has finally arrived on Netflix to continue the heartwarming legacy of Hospital Playlist. Created by Shin Won-ho and writer Kim Song-hee, the new weekly series is a spin-off of the beloved multi-season medical K-drama, which followed a close-knit group of doctors at Jongno Yulje Medical Center. Rather than established doctors, Resident Playbook will center on first-year OB-GYN residents at Yulje as they work through the chaotic environment and the highs and lows of their early careers. (Returning fans, expect lots of Hospital Playlist cameos!)

To play the new junior doctors, the K-drama recruited a lineup of rising stars from some of the biggest Korean productions in recent years. With episodes 1 and 2 out, it appears the series will also sprinkle in special appearances from the country's A-list actors. Below, read on to meet the all-star cast of Resident Playbook.

Go Youn-jung as Oh Yi-young

Oh Yi-young interned and started her residency at Yulje Medical Center, but she transferred to a local hospital and got into trouble. With her father recently bankrupt and a 50 million won (about $35,000) debt, Yi-young returns to Yulje to repeat her first year of residency, planning to work long enough to pay the debt and quit as soon as possible.

Go Youn-jung, 28, is an actress and model who has skyrocketed to fame since her debut in the 2019 drama He Is Psychometric. She held standout roles in Sweet Home season 1, The School Nurse Files, and Law School before starring in the fantasy drama Alchemy of Souls and the superhero epic Moving. She's next set to star alongside Kim Seon-ho in the 2025 Netflix K-drama Can This Love Be Translated?.

Han Ye-ji as Kim Sa-bi

Kim Sa-bi enters her role as a bit of a legend, as the former top student at medical school and the top scorer on her national exams. However, the genius needs to work on her bedside manner and learn to be more empathetic when dealing with patients.

Han Ye-ji is a 24-year-old actress making her career debut in Resident Playbook.

Shin Si-a as Pyo Nam-kyung

A still of Shin Si-a in 'Resident Playbook.'

Pyo Nam-kyung went to the same high school as Yi-young. At the time, Nam-kyung always competed with Yi-young, but Yi-young says now that she doesn't remember her. Though she describes herself as easygoing, Nam-kyung is prone to panicking in stressful situations.

Shin Si-a, 26, started in short films and web series before she landed the lead role in the 2022 horror movie The Witch: Part 2. The Other One, which she landed over 1,408 other actresses. Resident Playbook is her first major K-drama role.

Kang You-seok as Um Jae-il

A still of Kang You-seok in 'Resident Playbook'

Um Jae-il, stage name Um Jay, is a self-described "one-hit wonder" and former K-pop idol who still has some loyal fans. Though he thinks he's more famous than he actually is, the first-year resident is also a dedicated learner...if a bit over-eager.

Kang You-seok, 30, appeared in guest and supporting roles in several K-dramas before his breakout lead role as Noh Shin-woo in the 2021 BL drama Light on Me. He made his Netflix debut in the 2023 dystopian series Black Knight before returning as underachieving brother Yang Eun-myeong in 2025's When Life Gives You Tangerines. Next, he will star alongside Lee Jong-suk and Moon Ga-young in the tvN drama Seocho-dong.

Jung Joon-won as Ku Do-won

A still of Jung Joon-won in 'Resident Playbook.'

Ku Do-won is a talented fourth-year OB-GYN resident who's a compassionate leader supervising the junior doctors. He also has a history with Yi-young; eventually, we learn that the doctors' siblings are in a relationship.

Jung Joon-won, 37, began his career in film before starring in supporting roles in several K-dramas, including 2019's My Lawyer and Mr. Jo 2: Crime and Punishment, 2020's Hush, and 2022's A Model Family.

Lee Bong-ryun as Seo Jung-min

A still from 'Resident Playbook' of Lee Bong-ryun as Seo Jung-min

Seo Jung-min (above, right) is an attending physician and professor known for being harsh on students, earning the nickname "The Witch." She ends up in a contentious mentor-mentee relationship with Yi-young.

Lee Bong-ryun, 44, is a veteran stage and screen actress who has appeared in some of the most well-known Korean movies, including Okja, A Taxi Driver, Burning, Kim Ji Young: Born 1982, and I, The Executioner. On the K-drama front, she's known for her roles in While You Were Sleeping, Run On, Sweet Home, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Crash Course in Romance, and Destined With You.

Hong Na-hyun as Cha Da-hye

Second-year resident Cha Da-hye, who has a tough time supervising Jae-il, is played by Hong Na-hyun, 28. The musical actress made her K-drama debut in the 2022 romance K-drama May I Help You?, and had a supporting role in the 2023 thriller K-drama My Perfect Stranger.

Kim Hye-in as Myeong Eun-won

Reprising her role from Hospital Playlist, Kim Hye-in plays Myung Eun-won, the former resident who's now a fellow in the OB-GYN department (and an eventual antagonist for Yi-young). In addition to Hospital Playlist, the 32-year-old actress previously appeared in Entourage, She Would Never Know, and Yumi's Cells.

Lee Do-hye as Ki Eun-mi

Hospital Playlist alum Lee Do-hye also returns as Ki Eun-mi, now in her third year of residence after appearing as a first-year OB-GYN resident in season 2 of the original series. The 28-year-old actress previously appeared in several dramas, including Crash Landing on You, Dr. Romantic season 2, Snowdrop, Big Mouth, Crash Course in Romance, and Welcome to Samdal-ri.

<![CDATA[ Duchess Sophie Stepped Up to Represent King Charles at Event Amid Calls for King Charles to "Slow Down" ]]> Despite fighting cancer, King Charles isn't slowing down anytime soon. The 76-year-old monarch is carrying on with a "business as usual" attitude when it comes to his royal duties, and as Queen Camilla told reporters last week (via the Sun), work "keeps him going." After finishing their state visit to Italy on April 10, The King and Queen returned to the U.K., but on Friday, April 11, the Duchess of Edinburgh stood in for her brother-in-law at a special event.

Duchess Sophie—who is married to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's youngest son, Prince Edward—represented The King during the Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst Royal Military Academy, where both Prince Harry and Prince William went through their military training.

Sandhurst graduate Prince William has stepped in for his father—and previously, for Queen Elizabeth—on several occasions through the years at the thrice-annual event. But this time, the Duchess of Edinburgh inspected troops ahead of the parade, filling in for The King.

Although Sophie has attended the event on two prior occasions, it's more common for William to step in for his father. However, People noted that her presence this year might have been for a very special reason. The April 11 parade "featured the school’s first all-female Banner Party," marking a historic moment for the military school.

In terms of style, the Duchess of Edinburgh channeled Princess Kate in a periwinkle coat dress by Emilia Wickstead, adding a coordinating blue hat by Jane Taylor and pale blue Prada heels.

As for The King's schedule, Queen Camilla was asked by journalists if he had any intentions of scaling back his workload these days. Per the Sun, she replied, "No, I think he loves his work and it keeps him going. And I think it's wonderful, you know, if you've been ill and you are recovering, you're getting better and now he wants to do more and more and more."

However, she quipped that was also "the problem" when it came to her workaholic husband.

<![CDATA[ The 2025 WNBA Draft's Best Red Carpet Looks Are an Instant Slam Dunk ]]> The annual WNBA Draft doesn't simply reveal where rising stars are headed to play in the basketball season ahead. It also offers a preview into the next year of tunnel walk style set to take over the league.

Before the 2025 WNBA Draft officially begins, the year's rookie class shows up to score on the red (technically, orange) carpet. Last year, rising stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese tipped off a year of incredible outfits with custom Prada and Bronx & Bianco, respectively. This year's showing was bound to be even more fashion-forward. Hours before the carpet got underway, Coach was unveiled as the WNBA's first official fashion partner—guaranteeing plenty of It-bags and runway outfits later in the evening.

Sure enough, anticipated top seed Paige Bueckers of UConn arrived clutching an oversize Coach bag with her sparkling oversize suit. Notre Dame's Sonia Citron and TCU's Hailey Van Lith also toted Coach Tabby bags (the former's, a custom beaded rendition of a runway style). But the standout bag has to be NC State's Saniya Rivers's tricked-out Birkin, emblazoned with the message "The WNBA Been Poppin'." (Agreed!)

Regardless of designer, draftees favored structured blazers, satin dresses, and every shade of neutral imaginable. The palette gave the impression that the 2025 WNBA rookie class takes style as seriously as their prospects.

Eventually, the 2025 draft stars will make it all the way to the WNBA playoffs tunnel with their game-day style on display. Consider the best red carpet looks from draft night, ahead, a sneak-peek at the slam dunks to come.

<![CDATA[ The C*nty Little Bob That Stole the Show at Coachella Is Awarded to Julia Fox ]]> Leave it to Julia Fox to make a trendy hairstyle even edgier. On April 12, the actress attended day one of the Coachella music festival, and her look was a little…cheeky (more on that later). But the real star wasn't her fashion choice. It was her cunty little bob, a style that is proving to be a huge spring 2025 haircut trend.

For the festival, Fox’s hair was slicked back away from her face, reminiscent of the wet trend seen on other celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid, and more. The ends of her hair were flipped up to give a flirty vibe to the otherwise very structured look, and she opted out of any additional accessories to allow the style to shine on its own.

The super short cut added a futuristic vibe to her outfit, which consisted of a corset and lace-up garter, stockings, and sunglasses. Fox has never shied away from playing around with wigs and extensions, so fans rarely get to see her natural hair on display. That being said, it was confirmed in January that she had gotten a pixie cut (inspired by Ace Ventura), and she’s been playing around with her new short hair ever since.

A "cunty little bob," a term coined by Leslie Bibb's hairstylist Chris McMillan, has become the colloquial term for a blunt bob in the White Lotus season three era. Bibb's character, Kate, is the prime example of the chop, which hangs a bit shorter than the traditional lob, which typically grazes the shoulders. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so I will go out and guess Fox is a fan of Mike White's handywork. (Consider this my formal petition to have Fox appear in the season four cast.)

White Lotus-inspired or not, this haircut is relatively easy to style. It's long enough to air dry but short enough to require only a few minutes of heat styling if that's more your vibe. Ahead, I share the products that can help you get the look at home.

<![CDATA[ Princess Kate Opens Up About "Spiritual" and "Very Intense" Feelings in Surprise New Video ]]> The Princess of Wales is getting back to nature. On Monday, April 14, Princess Kate starred in a surprise new video talking about the importance of spending time outdoors—and now that she's in remission from cancer, the royal said she finds being in the natural world a "very intense emotional reconnection."

The princess, who serves as joint president of U.K. Scouts, and its chief scout, Dwayne Fields, appeared in a short film discussing the importance of the natural world. The duo shared their thoughts on how getting outdoors helps to support health and wellbeing, with the clip filmed in England's Lake District last month.

Dressed in a $755 tan turtleneck by Emilia Wickstead, an old favorite green tweed cap and the Bella Hoskyns bomber jacket she wore in her controversial 2024 Mother's Day photo, Princess Kate took a walk near the shores of Lake Windermere with Fields in the film. They were joined by a group of Scouts between the ages of 10 and 15 who are working on their naturalist badge.

During the video, the Princess of Wales said, "I find it a very spiritual and very intense emotional reconnection I suppose, these environments. Not everyone has that same relationship perhaps with nature, but it is so therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a very busy world.”

Kneeling down in the grass to help explain a map to the kids, the princess elaborated on how Scouting is still relevant "despite how different the modern day world is now." Fields added that having the future queen as the organization's president is "great for the Scout movement."

The Princess of Wales has previously opened up about how nature has helped her through her cancer battle, telling patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital how sunlight played a role in her recovery. "I really felt like I needed to get the sun. You need loads of water and loads of sunlight," she said, as reported by the Daily Mail in January.

To mark World Cancer Day on Feb. 3, the princess shared a photo of herself posing in the woods that was snapped by 6-year-old Prince Louis. "A royal aide emphasized that spending time in nature has been extremely important to The Princess over the past year as she underwent her own cancer journey," journalist Rebecca English posted on Instagram at the time.

Monday marks the first time the princess has been seen since St. Patrick's Day, when Kate attended the annual Irish Guards parade. While The King and Queen are confirmed to attend Easter Sunday services at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, the palace have not yet announced if the Prince and Princess of Wales will join the family.

<![CDATA[ Zendaya's Teeny Slicked-Back Baby Bun Made Us Squeal with Joy ]]> Everybody sit down, my show is on. Zendaya popped up in Los Angeles on April 14, at the School of Style, looking just as chic and polished as she always does to give us a masterclass in relaxed West Coast style. She traded her red carpet heels for a pair of comfy square toe red ballet flats, her haute couture gown for a cozy Guest in Residence oatmeal sweater (Gigi Hadid's knitwear line) and matching pants, looking every bit the poster child for the rich-girl-meets-quiet-luxury trend, but her hair and makeup remained just as glamorous as ever. Zendaya's slicked-back baby bun, soft smokey eyeshadow, and ultra glossy skin looked so stunning as she preened for the camera, saying "Hello, it's Zendaya, and today I got styled... at the School of Style."

The actress has proved that she can rock pretty much any beauty look under the sun, but I'm always partial to her hairstyles that keep her face (and flawless bone structure) front and center. Yes, her signature lob haircut is eternally fabulous, but there is something so timeless and effortless about sweeping your hair back into a bun. Plus, having shorter hair means the style is très petite and oh-so-cute, but even if you have longer hair, the bun will remain a fool-proof updo. Zendaya's featured a bit of a Y2K-flip at the end, with a little bit of hair escaping the bun to keep the look from feeling too formal.

Not only was Zendaya on hand to reaffirm her status as a fashion and beauty icon, she was also supporting her longtime stylist Law Roach, who is a mentor for the School of Style, an educational training organization that provides fashion courses and career development. We love a socially-conscious queen!

With summer on the horizon and the heat index primed to make us reconsider everything we thought we knew about long haircuts (unless, of course, you're already in LA and the weather is temperate year-round), there's never been a better time to perfect your snatched bun routine. And, as Z has proved yet again, it's so easy to wear the look and look ridiculously stylish, even if you've embraced the short hair trend for spring.

Keep scrolling for your snatched bun essentials to DIY the look at home.

<![CDATA[ Meet Isabela Merced, the Rising Star Who Plays Dina in 'The Last of Us' ]]> HBO's dystopian drama series The Last of Us returned for its second season on April 13, introducing a new cast of characters as Ellie and Joel (played by Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal) jump five years into the future following season 1's finale. Among the many new faces introduced—both friendly commune residents and Firefly vengeance seekers—one early standout is Dina, a magnetic survivor played by Isabela Merced.

At the start of the premiere, Dina is Ellie's best friend, a skilled fighter and treasured member of the Jackson commune, and has even won over grumpy Joel. Throughout the episode, it becomes clear that Ellie's more-than-friendly feelings toward Dina are reciprocated. As the pair slow-dance in front of the whole town (including Dina's ex-boyfriend Jesse, played by Beef's Young Mazino), they share a steamy kiss. Though only one episode has been released so far, fans of the video game on which the HBO hit is based know that Dina becomes a major character throughout the rest of the series, serving as Ellie's loving partner and guiding light as the show's plot takes a very dark turn. (Yes, seasons 2 and 3 are set to get even more devastating than season 1.)

The Last of Us may be Merced's breakout TV role, but the 23-year-old has already proven herself as one of Hollywood's most hard-working actresses. In just two months, she's set to become a full-fledged superstar with a role in one of 2025's most anticipated action movies. Read below to learn more about Isabela Merced before she becomes one of the year's biggest stars.

Isabela Merced is a Peruvian American Nickelodeon alum and former Broadway star.

Isabela Merced, born Isabela Moner, is a Peruvian American performer born in Cleveland, Ohio, in July 2001. She learned Spanish as her first language and lived with her mother's family in Huancayo, Peru for several months during her childhood, as reported by Teen Vogue. In 2008, her family's home burnt down in an electrical fire; the day after, she had her first audition for a production of The Sound of Music and landed the role.

Merced kept up with theater and, at age 10, had her Broadway debut in the revival of Evita, which starred Elena Roger and Ricky Martin. She went on to star as CJ Martin in the Nickelodeon series 100 Things to Do Before High School, and she was a lead in the 2016 scripted Legends of the Hidden Temple movie. In addition to her acting roles, she started making music and released her debut album, Stopping Time, in September 2015.

She has appeared in the 'Alien' franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After her Nickelodeon show ended in 2016, Merced crossed into film, with supporting turns in 2017's Transformers: The Last Knight, 2018's Sicario: Day of the Soldado, and 2018's Instant Family. In 2019, she starred as Dora the Explorer in the live-action film Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

She also changed her stage name that year to Isabela Merced, in honor of her maternal grandmother, Yolanda Merced Salazar, who "sacrificed a lot for her daughters to live out the American dream she had for them." She told Refinery29 at the time, "I believe some force, throughout all these years, has been giving my mom the strength and determination to guide me; a force that has been protecting us through so many journeys, trips, and experiences. I feel as though if that guardian angel would be anyone, it would be my grandma."

Merced had her biggest year yet in 2024, starring in three popular movies. First, she played Anya Corazón, a member of the girl trio (alongside Sydney Sweeney and Celeste O'Connor) in Sony/Marvel's Madame Web. Then, she starred as Aza Holmes in the film adaptation of John Green's coming-of-age novel Turtles All the Way Down. Finally, she played Kay Harrison in the horror franchise film Alien: Romulus.

She's set to play a major role in 'Superman' this summer.

Just months after her The Last of Us debut, Merced will return to the big screen in one of the biggest superhero movies this year. The multi-hyphenate is set to play Hawkgirl, real name Kendra Saunders, in the DC universe reboot of Superman, which releases this July. She'll become the first person to play a feature-film version of the character, though Hawkgirl has appeared in TV shows.

Most of the details of Merced's character and Superman's plot are still under wraps, but trailers have shown Hawkgirl flying through the city, in what is assumed to be a battle scene. Merced dropped a hint about her role in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "Every scene I'm flying, pretty much," she told the outlet. "But it's cool because I'm an adrenaline seeker. I like being dropped from really high heights. It's actually one of my favorite things."

In addition to possibly continuing playing Hawkgirl across the DC Studios slate, depending on the success of Superman, Merced also has hopes of returning to Broadway. "Not a revival. I want to do an original [show]", she says. "And then on top of that, I want to do a stoner comedy with two female leads. I love stoner comedies. However, I just don't see a lot of women leading them. And I love weed. I would be great for this. And I literally love Broad City. To me, that's a stoner show."

She says she's "looking forward" to any backlash towards Dina and Ellie's romance.

In recent years, Merced has spoken openly about several aspects of her identity and health journey, including living with PCOS and anxiety. She has also opened up about her sexuality since landing the role of Dina. In a New York Times article about Ellie and Dina's LGBTQ+ romance, Merced matter-of-factly stated, "I’ve been queer my whole life, so I never really thought about it." She also told Entertainment Weekly, "I mean, it's kind of my truth, so I don't see it as a thing even."

She continued, "The game was made so long ago. Gays have existed since the beginning of time, they were always there. I don't really see what the problem is. I don't see what we're trying to say or complain about. Not only that, it's just a beautiful story. If anything isn't successful, I promise you it’s because of the quality of the work, not because of themes. Any theme can be done properly if it's done by a good artist and executed with care and consideration. I guess everything in this story ends with tragedy. However, in my opinion, this is a successful sapphic story. It's beautiful and we win in the end. There's a lot of winning for this sapphic couple. I'm just really, really excited for people to see that."

She also told Entertainment Weekly that she's prepared to face whatever prejudiced criticism the show gets in response to the storyline. "I'm kind of looking forward to the backlash,” she added. “I don't know how to describe it. I'm not scared because the gays have existed since the beginning of time. The thing is, if you have the gays, you have the world as well. If you have their support, you are fine.

<![CDATA[ Queen Camilla Uses a "Signal" from Queen Elizabeth's Playbook to Get King Charles to Shut Up When He "Talks For Too Long" ]]> Queen Elizabeth couldn't get enough of her luxurious Launer handbags, but she didn't just use them as fashion statements. The late monarch was known to use her trusty bags to send secret messages to her entourage, like when she was ready to move on to a new conversation or if she wanted to leave an event. But it turns out Queen Camilla has borrowed one of her mother-in-law's tricks to keep King Charles in line—although her handbag moves aren't quite as subtle.

Speaking on the Daily Mail's "Palace Confidential" show, royal author Robert Hardman shared Camilla's handy tactic for getting The King to "move on" during busy royal events.

Sharing that King Charles "does love a chat," Hardman said that he often makes his staff "nervous" for talking "too long to people in a crowd," especially during royal tours. The royal commentator continued that when "everyone's looking at their watches, and the entourage, they're getting more and more nervous and no one quite wants to go up and go 'Sir, can you get a move on,' they'll whisper to The Queen."

This is when Camilla pulls a move out of Queen Elizabeth's book. "The Queen has this very sweet thing, she'll just gently nudge him in the small of his back with the corner of her handbag, and it's kind of the symbol, the signal, of 'Come on, let's get a move on,'" Hardman explained.

It's no surprise that The King's staff rely on Camilla to keep Charles on schedule, as she's said to be the only person who he'll listen to when it comes to a number of matters, including his cancer battle. However, The Queen recently told reporters that despite her best efforts, she can't get her husband to relax.

When asked if her husband will be slowing down anytime soon, she said (via the Sun), "No, I think he loves his work and it keeps him going. And I think it's wonderful, you know, if you've been ill and you are recovering, you're getting better and now he wants to do more and more and more. That's the problem."

As for Queen Camilla's impact on royal tours, Hardman added, "She calls him 'the boss,' there is sort of an understanding, he's in charge, he is The King, but at the same time, these tours don't go nearly as well if she's not around. It's different."

<![CDATA[ Coachella's Micro Shorts Trend Takes Center Stage in Beyoncé's Cheeky Levi's Collection ]]> Each festival season, a new stand-out trend inevitably emerges—whether at the hands of stylish concert-goers or the performers themselves. We're now squarely in the middle of Coachella's 2025 run and, already, a cheeky front-runner has taken the lead.

Celebrities and superfans flocked to California's Colorado Desert wearing cut-off shorts of microscopic proportions. Stars like Jodie Turner-Smith and Becky G both sported teeny-tiny styles in the crowd, while onstage, Megan Thee Stallion—as well as her surprise guests Victoria Monét and Ciara—sported short-shorts that bordered on underpants. Blackpink members Jennie and Lisa also traded pop star bodysuits for denim micro shorts during their headlining acts.

Though she didn't step foot in the desert last weekend, Beyoncé—the queen of booty shorts—still found a way to take cash in on the saucy trend. On Monday, April 14, the pop star announced the launch of her third collection with Levi's jeans, “Refrigerator.” The drop reimagines range of the brand's signature denim styles, including fitted vests, trench coats, trucker jackets, baggy jeans, and, of course, micro shorts—all of which are available to shop now.

Beyoncé made the big announcement on her Instagram, posting a cheeky denim look. She wore a chambray shirt tucked into a pair of butt-baring short-shorts. It was a simplistic outfit that made a massive impact—much like the styling of her past Levi's collaborations.

The first weekend of Coachella exhibited a palpable shift in festival style culture—one Beyoncé's collection taps into directly. The usual over-the-top aesthetics were largely absent. Glitter was a rarity, crochet tops were few and far between, and flower crowns went virtually extinct. Instead, Coachella Valley overflowed with functional basics, like plain white tank tops, loose-fit jeans, and baseball caps. In essence, no-frills pieces that center functionality over kitschy aesthetics.

Fans had better get shopping, because Coachella weekend two is fast-approaching.

<![CDATA[ Why King Charles Abdicating Would Cause a "Crisis" for Prince William and the Royal Family ]]> After King Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis, Prince William started taking on more responsibility on behalf of the Royal Family. There have even been rumors that Prince William and Princess Kate have begun preparing for their future roles as king and queen. But according to one royal expert, if King Charles did decide to abdicate the throne amid his ongoing cancer treatment, the Royal Family would face a huge "crisis."

Speaking to Fox News, royal expert Hilary Fordwich explained, "Prince William has been assuming more responsibilities and there have been preparations for more transitions of responsibility." Fordwich continued, "Both Prince William and Princess Catherine have been readying to assume leadership roles with an accelerated schedule of preparation for their future positions as king and queen. But most certainly, they are not in any way actively seeking an immediate ascension."

As for why no-one is in a rush to see King Charles abdicate the throne, Fordwich told the outlet, "The entire family...are more focused on the best interests of the monarchy's stability and continuity, hence all being content with the gradual transition rather than any immediate decisions. The only definite thing is that an abdication would be a significant departure from all tradition."

It's recently been reported that King Charles refuses to "slow down," despite being hospitalized during his ongoing cancer treatment. As a result, an abdication seems extremely unlikely at present.

Fordwich noted that Edward VIII's decision to abdicate in order to marry Wallis Simpson caused "a constitutional crisis," something King Charles won't want to repeat. "Given his mother's values, King Charles is most likely to do all he can to continue serving, dedicating himself to duty," Fordwich told the outlet.

British broadcaster Jonathan Sacerdoti also spoke with Fox News, saying, "It seems unlikely that The King will want to step back from his duties any more than is strictly necessary." He continued, "Though he had to cancel some engagements recently, it caused very minimal disruption to his otherwise busy schedule. He has always been clear that his work ethic compels him to be as busy as possible."

<![CDATA[ Zendaya's Cozy Polo Sweater Is One of Gigi Hadid's Favorites ]]> Zendaya is back in Los Angeles doing what she does best: dropping style lessons when fans least expect it. This time, she even had an assist from one of Gigi Hadid's all-time favorite pieces.

Z traded the windswept dress she wore on the set of The Odyssey in Italy last month (and the trench coat she wore between takes) for something more everyday but no less epic. Making a quick stop at the city's School of Style on April 14, Zendaya appeared in an oatmeal Guest in Residence polo sweater paired to single-pleat khaki pants. The monotone look would have conveyed rich girl energy all on its own, but she and stylist Law Roach dialed up the weekday opulence with square-toe, Oxblood flats, a slicked back baby bun, and smatterings of gold jewelry. (Her new signature, the Jessica McCormack engagement ring she debuted at the 2025 Golden Globes, appeared missing from her left hand.)

Zendaya's surprise appearance was primarily to support her longtime image architect—not to sell us all on cozy polo sweaters. Law Roach is currently a mentor for the School of Style, an organization provided accredited fashion education courses. The actress filmed a quick greeting in her look for the school's Instagram page—ostensibly showing off the styling wisdom its teachers have to share. "Hello, it's Zendaya, and today I got styled..." she paused, "at the School of Style." After waving to the camera, she made a slow-turn showing off her low-key, yet luxurious outfit.

But fashion people can't help but look at Zendaya's outfit and get inspired for spring. (At least, this editor can't.) Teaming two creamy oatmeal basics—her polo sweater and pants—makes her cherry red flats pop even brighter. Gold rings and hoop earrings complement the color scheme. It's a lesson in making a statement by being understated—something Zendaya does well, whether she's carrying a Loewe bag on set or taking a walk in a Reformation sweater.

Zendaya is usually first in line to innovate on the red carpet, but her casual Monday look is just the latest Hollywood show of support for Gigi Hadid's brand. The designer herself demonstrated a more colorful way to wear the exact same knit in Paris last month. She layered hers in a shirt sandwich, between an Isabel Marant jacket and a black crewneck T-shirt.

Other celebrity fans have gone the more pared-back route when they've tried Gigi Hadid's polo sweaters—like Hailey Bieber, who modeled hers with nothing but her daily jewelry stack and fresh Rhode products on TikTok last year.

Zendaya's quick visit to the School of Style wasn't an expected one. Many fans anticipated she'd lay low until the 2025 Met Gala. (She is busy planning her wedding to Tom Holland, after all.) But no one's complaining that Z found time to offer a quick spring sweater tutorial.

<![CDATA[ Mermaid Waves Are Coachella-Approved Thanks to Jennie Kim ]]> It’s Jennie Kim’s world—we’re just living in it. On April 13, the Blackpink singer hit the Coachella stage for a solo set, performing a medley of her best hits. Her vocals were clearly on point, but what really grabbed my attention? That rockstar hair.

Kim, who's never been one to play it safe with her hairstyles (see: the red bob, braided sideburns, and hime cuts she’s shown off on Instagram), kept it surprisingly low-key this time. She went for loose, beachy waves with an extra-long length that brushed against her hips as she danced. The real showstopper, though, was the volume—it made me do a double-take. It was like it had a life of its own, and it perfectly complemented the red snakeskin two-piece and matching ruby manicure.

Maybe it's the fact that summer's creeping up, or maybe it's just that I'm mentally by a pool at all times, but Kim's look felt like the perfect vacation hair. It’s a cool-girl style we've also seen on celebs like Katie Holmes, and it makes the perfect blank canvas to zhuzh up with trendy hair accessories—a French pin, oversized claw clip á la Millie Bobby Brown, or even a bold metallic cuff. The opportunities here are endless, so if you want to know how you can get a look similar to Kim’s, keep reading for the products and tools you’ll need to have on hand.

<![CDATA[ Bloody And Riding A Motorcycle In Paris, Bella Hadid Has Your Next Wet-Look Hairstyle Sorted ]]> Leave it to Bella Hadid to look immaculate while literally getting tossed from a motorcycle. For context, the model is in France shooting for FX’s new series “The Beauty in Paris,” which is about an STD that makes those affected extremely beautiful but eventually kills its host. Hadid posted a picture of herself on set, in which she looks fresh off the runway with muted brows, smokey eyeshadow, and a neutral lip color. Still, my favorite part of her glam had to be the slicked-back hairstyle that she donned as she rode through the streets of Paris.

Hadid’s hair was pulled away from her face and featured a deep side part along with some long sideburns. The rest of her strands looked wet enough to give that fresh-out-the-shower illusion, but given that she’s in the middle of a bustling set, it’s safe to say that quite a bit of gel was used to get the look.

No accessories were used in the hairstyle, but it still managed to look next-level cool against the red latex suit she sported. This hairstyle has long been a runway and Hollywood red-carpet mainstay, having been worn by the likes of Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Ciara, Hunter Schaefer, and more.

It’s not necessarily a look I’d recommend wearing every day, but if you have an event that makes you want to look like an ethereal goddess from another planet, I highly recommend keeping this hairstyle in your arsenal. Keep reading for the products you’ll need to have on hand for a recreation that would make Hadid herself proud.

<![CDATA[ James Middleton Reveals Middleton Family "Prerequisite" Prince William Met Before Marrying Kate ]]> Prince William is famously close to his in-laws, the Middletons, with royal sources noting on numerous occasions how Carole, Michael, Pippa and James serve as an example of a "normal" family for the prince. As Princess Kate's brother James noted, he gets along famously with the Prince of Wales—and he passed one very important test as Kate's royal boyfriend.

As a dog breeder and pet food company founder with a passion for country life, James is known for his love of animals, especially dogs. The youngest Middleton sibling credits his late dog Ella with saving his life, writing a memoir about his experience with depression and how Ella even helped him meet his wife, Alizée Thevenet.

In a recent interview with Hello!, James said sisters Kate and Pippa are "passionate" about their own dogs, but he's "on another scale of passionate." Both Pippa's dog, Rafa, and Kate's dog, Orla, are cocker spaniels like Ella, with Prince William and Princess Kate having welcomed Orla into the family shortly before their beloved dog Lupo's 2020 death.

Due to their family's obsession with cocker spaniels, James was asked by Hello! if it was "a prerequisite" for the future King "to like dogs before he could join the Middleton family."

It seems James approved from the start, with the Meet Ella author replying, "He had a long love of dogs. He had a very strong relationship with a black lab called Wigeon growing up, so he knew the powers of what dogs can do."

When it comes to his family, James praised their tight-knit circle. "We're a close family, and we’re fortunate in that we see lots of each other. My parents play a good role in getting us all together in that respect."

And that means dogs included. James said his sisters and brothers-in-law love sharing in family moments with their cocker spaniels. "Wherever they go, they bring the dogs with them, so I see lots of them, which is lovely," he said.

"We've been brought up knowing that you can't take family for granted," James added. "You don't get to choose them, as you can choose your friends. But I don't think you can give up on your family like you can sometimes with friends."

<![CDATA[ The Ingenious "Hack" Kate Middleton Uses to Avoid Answering Questions, and Why She Has to Be "So Careful" ]]> Kate Middleton and Prince William are consummate professionals when it comes to speaking with strangers. As the Prince and Princess of Wales attend a multitude of royal engagements every year, they've quickly become accustomed to navigating awkward situations. And according to one Hollywood actor, Princess Kate is adept at deflecting personal questions.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, actor Rami Malek opened up about meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales at the BAFTAs in 2019. "They work so hard to get to know everybody," Malek told the host. "Who's done whatever film they've done, their past films, and you can see they've done their homework."

Discussing his awkward encounter with Kate, Malek explained, "I just looked at Princess Kate at one point, and I said, 'This must be exhausting.' And she said, 'Why?'" Malek responded, saying, "You just had a baby, right?" According to the actor, Kate seemed to be "taken aback" by the personal nature of his comment. Instead of answering, she allegedly responded by asking Malek, "How are you doing?"

Rather than answering Princess Kate's question, Malek asked, "No, how are you?" Describing the moment, Malek told Kimmel, "And in the most regal, elegant way, she gave me a look."

When Princess Kate refused to engage with Malek's personal question, the Bohemian Rhapsody actor appeared to dig himself even deeper with some small talk. "The funniest thing about that is, I said, 'You know, if you ever need time off, I'm backup for you,'" Malek explained. "She's like, 'What do you mean?' I said, 'You guys go out, have a good time.'"

After completing cancer treatment, Princess Kate returned to the spotlight with aplomb in 2025. "Even though the palace is still advising that the princess is by no means returning to full-time royal duties yet, we have seen a surprising amount of her so far this year," former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror. She continued, "[Princess Kate] is most certainly the star of the royal show."

<![CDATA[ I've Traveled Alone for 20 Years—These Are the Best Destinations for Women Traveling Solo ]]> Solo travel is having a moment. For me—a backpacker at heart, with a penchant for arty, boutique hotels—that moment began around 20 years ago when I embarked on my first solo sojourn to Central America, inspired by the Latin-American handicraft store I was working in at the time. After saving relentlessly, I took off, and the solo travel bug firmly took hold. I haven’t looked back since.

I still enjoy holidaying with friends and have backpacked with a boyfriend on a seriously tight budget ($20 a day for a year), yet I always return to traveling solo, especially during trips when I’m away for prolonged periods. Good books and new acquaintances keep me company, and I like to travel slowly, often by local bus or train. This style of travel affords me time to think and ponder and to truly drink in the experiences I have without too much distraction.

Of the 30+ countries I’ve visited solo, some are better suited to female travelers than others. For example, India is one of my favorite countries in the world, having spent over six months traveling through its varied and wondrous landscapes, first with a companion and second alone. But it’s one of the harder countries to navigate solo, in part due to its size, huge population, and large amount of unwanted attention. Should it be discounted as a woman? I’d say no, but extra precautions should be exercised. It’s not one for the fainthearted.

Whereas places like Italy and Georgia, for example, would suit first-time solo travelers perfectly. While I’ve always organized and researched my trips, preferring to travel independently, these days there are a range of companies offering group tours to a staggering array of countries around the globe. Less experienced travelers might prefer the extra element of security or ease that traveling as part of a group brings, but I’d urge anyone joining these tours to do their homework since many U.S. and U.K. owned tour companies often tout local experiences—many in developing countries—as their main selling points. A tactic I’m wary of since guides on the ground rarely have contracts or workers' rights and oftentimes aren’t fairly compensated, having to rely on tips to make up the majority of their pay.

One way to remedy this is to travel solo, booking locally owned accommodation and visiting locally owned businesses along the way. Chances are you will meet fellow travelers anyway, but this style of travel ensures a better chance of understanding and experiencing a country organically rather than through a sanitized Western lens. Ready to take the plunge? These are my absolute favorite countries for traveling alone.

Colombia

street in colombia

Since Colombia is pretty huge, it suits travelers who have a bit more time to spare, which is why I opted for the vibrant country for a three-week extended vacation. With a long history of kidnappings and guerrilla warfare, this South American country hasn’t always had the best reputation, especially for females journeying alone, but times have changed, and I felt safe during my trip.

After hopping from Bogota to Baraquilla, before stopping in lovely Cartagena and spirited Medellin for a few days, I took a local bus to my favorite destination of the trip, majestic Jardin. Filled with brightly painted wooden chairs and low-stack buildings, the whimsical countryside village has a lovely sense of community, with real-life cowboys convening in the main square and chatty farmers selling brilliant bunches of pink bananas—a true highlight for those going it alone.

Georgia

Georgia, one of the best countries to travel to solo

Thanks to the country’s inexpensive marshrutkas (minibusses) that zip from town to town, getting around Georgia is pretty effortless, making it the ideal destination for solo travelers. I spent six weeks taking in the impressive sights of the country, from the idyllic town of Sighnaghi in the east to the curious city of Batumi on the shoreline of the Black Sea in the west, interspersed with extended periods in the hip capital, Tbilisi. Well-designed Airbnbs, creative hotels, hip coffee shops, an impressive array of local wines, and a dining scene that never once failed to excite all add to Georgia’s appeal. Moreover, I never once felt threatened or unsafe in the country.

Cuba

Cuba, one of the best countries to travel to solo

Due to an abundance of Casa Particulars (family homes open for travelers), Cuba is a great place for solo travel. Aside from the country’s machismo attitude, I enjoyed traveling from Havana to Viñales Valley and Trinidad alone, following a short stay in the capital with a friend. Meeting fellow adventurers came easily too - I hitchhiked a ride with two German girls, dined with a woman from Montreal, and hit Fábrica de Arte Cubano (an old factory turned art and dining space) with a British guy in his 70s.

Unfortunately, as catcalling is common on the island, it’s best to ignore it and keep your wits about you, especially when out at night, as streetlights are few and far between. A ride out to Ernest Hemingway’s old home, Finca Vigia, in the suburb of San Francisco de Paula is well worth the trip to see the writer’s belongings still in situ, including his old Corona Three typewriter and stacks of books and magazines. Hail a vintage Impala or 1950s Cadillac to make the journey in style.

Italy

Italy, one of the best countries to travel to solo

Of the bucolic Italian cities I have visited so far, I’d recommend pretty Florence and gritty Naples (not forgetting a quick trip to the idyllic and little-visited island of Procida) for females traveling alone. While Florence impresses with winding cobblestone streets, gelato shops, awe-inspiring architecture, gorgeous hotels, and top-class restaurants, Naples is its sexier, edgier cousin.

The joy of Naples begins with its food, and since there are plenty of eateries, spanning low-key pizza joints to homely restaurants serving up affordable pasta dishes, it’s easy for solo diners to feel right at home. The colorful and often chaotic city has an energy like no other, and so my preferred base is the leafy, quiet Vomero district, accessible by a steep funicular. While Procida, a tiny island just off the coast of the mainland, wows with pastel-hued homes, secluded bays, and plenty of wooden fishing boats—head over for a day or two for long languid days in the sun.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, one of the best countries to travel to solo

The magical tropical island of Sri Lanka cast a spell over me as soon as I arrived, dazzling and mesmerizing at every turn. My month-long trip quickly turned into a deep nine-month exploration spanning much of the country, from Jaffna in the north (a place once off limits due to the country’s 26-year-long civil war), and Colombo, with its primary colored tuk-tuks and colossal hypnotic trees, to the palm-tree-backed beaches of the south and east coasts and the swathes of idyllic tea plantations covering the highlands.

Home to sloth bears, leopards, raucous gray langur monkeys, mugger crocodiles, Asian elephants, red and grey slender-loris, and hundreds of types of paint-box colored birds, Sri Lanka is a true haven for nature and wildlife lovers, but also impresses with large-scale monolithic hand-carved Buddha statues, fascinating archaeological sites, and little-visited ancient temples—there’s literally something for everyone. While females traveling solo should take precautions (as with any country), on the whole, I felt safer in Sri Lanka than I did living in London. By avoiding beach walks after dark, dressing respectfully, and buddying up with fellow travelers to visit remote sights, I, for the most part, avoided too much hassle, but that’s not to say I didn’t encounter any.

Scotland

Scotland, one of the best places to visit solo

Safe, photogenic, and swirling with myth and legend, there’s no wonder Scotland is one of my favorite places for a solo jaunt. From the Isle of Skye’s Fairy Pools, where icy dips await, to hiking through the Old Man of Storr, the landscape impresses at every turn and through all seasons (I especially like winter when there are fewer people around). A car is recommended to reach some of my most loved spots, including one of Scotland’s most magnificent wild swimming spots, The Meeting of Three Waters. This series of calm yet invigorating pools are even more inviting since they’re backed by the impressive Three Sisters mountain range. And it’s around this area, particularly near the River Etive, where it’s possible to spot majestic stags, mountain sheep, and soaring golden eagles in the wild.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica, one of the best countries to travel to solo

While most travelers head to Costa Rica’s northwest coast, I’d recommend that solo travelers beat the crowds and make a beeline for the country’s Caribbean coast, close to the border with Panama. Boasting an abundance of slow-moving sloths, hypnotic acid green jungle snakes, horseback rides through national parkland, and the chance to learn all about Costa Rica’s BriBri tribe who utilize the healing powers of local plants, it’s the place I retreat to when I need to escape. Here, I met plenty of fellow solo females, had some life-enriching conversations, and really didn’t want to leave.

The Maldives

The Maldives, one of the best countries to travel to solo

Because the Maldives is synonymous with honeymooners and can be wildly expensive to visit, the island nation doesn’t get too much solo attention but hear me out. After spending 11 days island hopping solo late last year, I’d recommend the country to first-time solo-ers looking for a bougie, super safe yet extremely relaxing and beautiful break without an iota of stress or hassle. Everything about these islands is healing, from the impressive array of world-class wellness therapies to the meditative shades of azure, cobalt, and sapphire blue.

And since the Maldives’ idyllic atolls teem with all manner of bright and photogenic corals and sea life, from sleek unicorn and butterfly fish to painted sweetlips, it’s the ideal place for snorkeling and diving, too. Aside from the friendliness I encountered, from both fellow guests (none of which were honeymooning) and hotel staff, the highlight of my time in the region took place in Hanifaru Bay, part of the UNESCO Biosphere waters of Baa Atoll, where I swam alongside a mass of twirling manta rays, each one somersaulting through the plankton-rich waters, like angels of the ocean. The otherworldly moment will stay with me forever, and perhaps wouldn’t have happened had I been traveling with a companion.

Canada

Canada, one of the best countries to visit solo

After visiting Canada twice, I’m confident that a dual-city stay encompassing both Montréal and Toronto will impress solo travelers since both places are safe and sublime yet radically different. Montréal takes the top spot since it’s the perfect destination for a city break with an edge: small enough to get around on foot but large enough to have a burgeoning art and gastronomy scene, whereas Toronto gets under your skin with its addictive vibe and friendly residents. In both places, the food scene and street art seem to dominate, I’d recommend Café Nocturne, Larry’s, and Art Cafe for brunch in Montréal, and The Drake Hotel and Ramen Isshin for bites and drinks in Toronto.

<![CDATA[ Royal Expert Explains Why Prince George Is Seen Publicly More Often Than Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ]]> Prince William and Kate Middleton's children sometimes make appearances at official royal events. However, just last week, Prince George traveled to Paris with Prince William to watch his favorite soccer team play—Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis weren't in attendance. According to one royal expert, there's a simple reason why Prince George is seen more often than his younger siblings.

Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explained, "It is due to age and the fact it is a balance." He continued, "As [Charlotte and Louis] get older, they will be seen at more events."

As for Prince George's boys' trip to Paris with Prince William, Fitzwilliams explained, "Equally, George is obviously very keen [on football] and there is that aspect to it...You want to take someone who is really going to enjoy it and look as if they are enjoying it."

Fitzwilliams also suggested that Prince William's decision to take his eldest son to Paris was "very good for George." The royal expert explained, "It is important for the royal image that you have this balance between showing who you are and then certain events that are more formal."

According to Fitzwilliams, the Prince of Wales's boys' trip to Paris is an example of how William's parenting separates him from his father. "Charles did not project the sort of exuberance that William is passing on to George," Fitzwilliams noted. "This is a new persona within the Royal Family, as Charles is of a different temperament."

The royal commentator continued, "That is reflected in the sports you like, but it does take the royal image to a far more informal place, which I think is very good...An enthusiasm for a sport that is so popular does help build a connection."

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence Tackles Spring's Bug-Eye Sunglasses Trend With Her Favorite Nike Sneakers and a Cozy Coat ]]> While the rest of us were packing away our chunky sweaters and winter boots, Jennifer Lawrence remained utterly unmoved by Fool's Spring. The season has technically already begun, but the No Hard Feelings actor is still relying heavily on her cold weather favorites (and a buzzy sunglasses trend) to combat April's unusually brisk forecast.

Lawrence kicked off her week with a Monday morning stroll in New York City on April 14. Her casual-cool outfit was comprised of all the seasonal favorites that carried her through winter 2025, including an espresso-hued wool wrap coat and a burgundy scarf that she's worn on several occasions.

She paired the cozy combo with black wide-leg trousers—potentially, her beloved La Ligne Colby Pants—and a pair of black sneakers. The star generally favors Adidas styles embossed with the brand's signature three-stripe motif, but she put them on pause for this particular occasion. Instead, she slipped on a pair of Nike V2K Run sneakers, which came equipped with a metallic, gunmetal trim.

Though the $120 shoe style is a fairly new addition to her roster, Lawrence has already worn them multiple times this month, paired with the same coat.

Though most of her outfit was pulled from the winter section of her expansive wardrobe, Lawrence still took the opportunity to implement a buzzy spring eyewear trend. She brought the Paris Fashion Week-approved bug-eye silhouette to the streets of NYC, sporting a pair of futuristic, wrap-around shades with a bubble-like appearance.

Lawrence tends to gravitate toward more timeless pieces—like oatmeal-colored sweaters, streamlined coats, and easy-wear moccasin loafers—over the strange and unusual. But the star made an exception for this delightfully "ugly" trend—and I dare say, she worked them seamlessly into her wardrobe.

<![CDATA[ Former Royal Butler Shares "Sweet" Reason Why Working With King Charles and Queen Camilla on Easter Was a "Disaster" ]]> Working for The King and Queen isn't always easy, especially over holidays when staff often have to give up their own celebrations with family. Although King Charles has a reputation for being quite particular when it comes to his daily rituals, he also makes sure to show his appreciation for the people who keep the royal households running. Former royal butler Grant Harrold has recalled some of the "sweet" gestures made by the royals when he spent his first Easter with The King and Queen, who used to make the trip up to Scotland for the occasion.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Harrold—who worked for the pair between 2004 and 2011—revealed that even though they're kept busy over Easter, The King's staff get treated to plenty of candy.

"Easter is interesting, from my experiences, because The King used to go up to Scotland for his Easter break, and I used to go up with him, and we’ve seen he’s now in Balmoral with Camilla," the former butler recalled. "That's quite a traditional thing, going up to Scotland. It marks the beginning of a busy time for the royals, as the social season starts in March and runs right through up until Christmas time."

Harrold said working over Easter "was great," because he "was given Easter eggs by The King and Queen." However, the former butler said it came with one downside, adding, "it was a disaster for my weight."

He continued that Charles and Camilla, "absolutely used to give me Easter gifts," sharing, "I remember one year the King actually wrote me a little letter and he thanked me for spending my Easter with them, it was my first Easter with them, and he put Cadbury's mini eggs in the envelopes, so when I opened the envelope, all those sweets fell out."

Harrold, who called the gesture, "so sweet," also shared what he gifted the now-monarch for the holiday. "I gave him a little metal tin, when you opened it, there was a little wind up chicken that he wound up and had it run across the table between him and The Queen. It was quite sweet, very cute."

As for the royals' 2025 celebrations, King Charles and Queen Camilla won't be enjoying quiet time in Scotland. Their Majesties are confirmed to be attending Easter Sunday church service at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. Although it's unclear if the Prince and Princess of Wales are attending with their children, the palace noted that The King and Queen will be "accompanied by members of the Royal Family."

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence Has Styled La Ligne's Colby Pants at Least 6 Times—Now I'm Equally Obsessed ]]> Everything I know about Jennifer Lawrence comes from two sources: her increasingly rare interviews with the press and her much more frequent walks around Manhattan. From the latter, I've deduced that her current style era involves finding her personal best in any given category—an Adidas sneaker for shoes, a sweater by The Row for knitwear—and committing to it. Clothes are made to be worn, and Jennifer Lawrence wears hers with panache. If she's going to be followed by cameras, she'll champion pieces she genuinely loves. And the item I sense she's truly infatuated with, more than any other this year, is La Ligne's $295 wide-leg Colby Pant.

La Ligne's Colby Pants are to Jennifer Lawrence what the Hunger Games hardcover books were to me in high school: something she's simply inseparable from. The New York City-based brand was founded in pursuit of designing the best striped sweaters, but Lawrence has identified La Ligne as her go-to source for an optimal, everyday pant. On the rack, it's the kind of minimalist-chic piece that's so unassuming, it could almost go entirely unnoticed. The style features a mid-high rise elasticated waistband, roomy legs, and a floor-grazing hem. It's available in twelve colors and sizes XXS through XL; Lawrence owns it in navy and black.

Jennifer Lawrence makes a compelling case for La Ligne's Colby pants every time she hits the sidewalk wearing them. They first appeared while she was still pregnant with her second child, layered under thick sweaters and leopard print coats on five separate occasions between January and March 2025. The pants' elastic waistband and comfortable bias cut were no doubt appealing to the star as she dressed for her third trimester. The versatility of these pants, which can be styled with everything from vintage Fendi accessories to Nike sneakers and belted bags by Liffner, seemed like a major plus.

Postpartum, Lawrence has kept her Colby pants in rotation with many of the same pieces. She may swap her Nikes for Loewe ballet sneakers or trade in a bag by The Row for her Liffner style, but the foundation of her outfit is always the same. Her La Ligne pants always drape over her shoes with carefully constructed wide legs. And onlookers (like me) can't help but wonder if they're as pajama-cozy as they look.

Jennifer Lawrence might be the Colby's most devoted unofficial spokesperson, but she's certainly not the only one. The more I looked into the pants' celebrity fans, the more convinced I became of their stylistic range. Meghan Markle (sorry—I mean, Sussex) selected a pair in a cheery shade of pumpkin spice orange for a monochromatic outfit during her official tour of Colombia last summer. Kaia Gerber also slotted a red poplin version into her street style lineup, right alongside her beloved Repetto ballet flats and studded east-west tote bag by Paloma Wool.

Each time I wrote about celebrities wearing these pants, I saw just how versatile they could be: No two women wore them quite the same way. But even after all those clips, I was left with one big question: Do these pants hold up for NFRPs (non-famous regular people)? I secured two pairs—navy crepe and black satin, just like Jennifer Lawrence—to find out for sure.

How I Styled Jennifer Lawrence's La Ligne Pants

Jennifer Lawrence's favorite pants arrived on my doorstep on the eve of a work trip upstate. I thought wearing them for a two-hour car ride and then enjoying some leisurely walks around the outdoor resort property where I was staying could give me an even better sense of their fit and feel than lounging in them at home. (Though I'd do plenty of that, too, when I returned.)

I paired the navy crepe pants with a Lawrencian oversized sweater and suede Jamie Haller shoes. From the first fit, I knew I'd nailed the sizing—and that the brand had perfected a fit that was just oversized enough. I usually wear a size 10 or 12 in women's pants, and sometimes I find that garments designed to be intentionally relaxed on smaller sizes can still fit a little snug on me. But the size L sat comfortably at my waist without any pinching or angry red marks by the end of the day. The fabric also draped nicely away from my hips and flowed down to the floor.

Once I got moving, I could instantly see how they became Lawrence's errand-running pants of choice. Sitting in the car, they're soft and pliant. In motion, they're light and airy. Wearing them, I felt less like a frazzled editor on deadline and more like a downtown rich mom—put-together, not overly styled, and infinitely relaxed.

Once I realized the pants worked in casual settings, it was time for a more formal test. The satin pants were my plus-one on a last-minute, 24-hour work trip to Utah—one that involved a formal dinner and in-person interviews with sources. I would only have about an hour to myself to get dressed and ready after the flight to Salt Lake City touched down; temperatures also hovered near freezing, even at the start of April. So, instead of shivering in a party dress, I packed my black pants, a cashmere sweater, and Manolo Blahnik heels that I could layer with crew socks.

The pants didn't wrinkle or crease in my weekender bag, while the hem just barely skimmed the ground with my 75mm heels. I felt as good wearing these in front of work peers as I did at home by myself. When the night ended, I almost didn't want to take them off.

The next morning, I hopped on the plane back home wearing—what else?—the navy crepe pants with a rugby shirt and my Sézane trench coat.

On another work trip, I had a formal dinner and interviews with TV stars—so I chose the satin pants and a low heel. (Image credit: Halie LeSavage)

One formula has risen to the top of my Jennifer Lawrence outfit inspo pyramid, though. On days when I work from home, La Ligne's navy Colby pants have been my constant companions, paired with an oversized crewneck knit (usually from Anine Bing or Reformation, again) and a pair of Adidas Tokyo sneakers. This combination makes me feel more awake than slipping into a matching sweatsuit, yet it's just as comfortable. Some of J.Law's nonchalant energy must have transferred to me as I wore the same formula through days of writing in my home office and walking my dog. I reached for these pieces without any hesitation, and I didn't need photos to know they looked good.

I've now learned something else about Jennifer Lawrence through my outfit experiment: She really does have the best taste in pants.

<![CDATA[ Sézane, Zara and Reformation Take the Lead in Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s F1 Grand Prix Fashion ]]> Formula One might be known for its high-speed thrills and roaring engines, but Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie quietly stole the style spotlight at this year's F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain. The royal sisters made a surprise appearance at the event on Sunday, April 13, joining their cousins Zara Tindall and Peter Philips for some trackside fashion moments—and both showcased some surprisingly affordable high street finds.

Princess Eugenie turned to her go-to maxi dress and white sneaker combo, looking effortlessly chic in a forest green style from Reformation with LØCI trainers. Straw and jute bags are popping up everywhere this season, and Eugenie stayed on trend with a woven style by French brand Muuñ, adding white Gentle Monster sunglasses.

Meanwhile, big sis Beatrice—who coordinated with Princess Eugenie in a patterned green Sézane maxi dress— took a different spin on footwear, wearing a pair of gold Zara T-strap flats that retailed for just £30 at the time. While the shoes are no longer available, never fear: L.K. Bennett makes a nearly identical style.

Second-time new mom Beatrice, who was joined by husband Edoardo "Edo" Mapelli Mozzi, added a new pair of Ray-Bans to her outfit and toted a camel-colored crossbody by accessible luxury brand Divlos.

Beatrice and Edo welcomed a baby daughter named Athena in January, and the parents looked relaxed during their child-free day out. The duo was pictured chatting with Princess Anne's son and daughter (and Beatrice's cousins), Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, along with Zara's husband, Mike.

As for her outfit, Princess Beatrice took a style cue from another royal cousin's wife, Princess Kate. The Princess of Wales has been a longtime fan of Sézane's breezy French girl styles, and Beatrice's high-necked dress wouldn't look out of place on Kate.

This isn't the first time Bea has channeled the Princess of Wales; in March, she wore a shimmering white Self-Portrait dress for her first post-baby appearance, wearing a bow-trimmed dress that's similar to looks Kate has worn from the brand.

<![CDATA[ The Alleged "Olive Branch" Prince Harry Offered to Kate Middleton and Prince William During U.K. Visit ]]> Prince Harry recently returned to the U.K. to attend appeal hearings in a court case regarding the removal of his security detail. During the Duke of Sussex's visit to London, he allegedly offered an "olive branch" to his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

As reported by the Express, Prince Harry stayed at Coworth Park hotel in Ascot during his U.K. visit. The location of Harry's hotel is reportedly relevant, as it's only "a short drive from William and Kate's residence Adelaide Cottage" in Windsor, the outlet reported. Importantly, Prince Harry and Prince William also stayed in the five-star hotel the night prior to the Duke of Sussex's royal wedding to Meghan Markle.

However, Prince Harry allegedly didn't spend any time with the Royal Family during his return to England. "Harry did not meet up with the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, or see his father King Charles before his state visit to Italy with Camilla," the Express reported. According to the outlet, the Duke of Sussex was seen spending time "with former school and Army friends."

The Express spoke with "close business friends" of the duke, who claimed that [Prince Harry's] "accommodation decision, which was relayed to Wills and Kate through security services, was seen as a potential olive branch to make peace after so many years estranged."

An insider told the outlet, "Harry really is keen to try to salvage some kind of relationship or even reopen dialogue." The source continued, "And some of us saw Harry['s hotel] being so close to his brother['s home] as a gesture of saying, 'Hey I am here, close by...what about us trying to work things out?'"

The source also told the outlet that Prince Harry's friends reportedly believe "he wants to somehow make peace and return to talking terms" with the Royal Family.

<![CDATA[ A $5,600 Gucci Bamboo Bag Is Bella Hadid's Pick Over Classic Coachella Style ]]> A year and a half into her rodeo girlfriend era, Bella Hadid continues to find new and exciting ways to rep Western style. Thus far, her formula has included low-rise jeans, leather corsets, and cowboy boots by the dozen. Her latest look, however, might just take the equestrian cake.

While celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber were traipsing through Coachella Valley, Hadid was in the midst of a much more luxurious vacation. The supermodel touched down in Paris last week, bypassing music festival style in favor of a luxe leather look and a more metropolitan setting.

Her outfit was the full-body personification of a pair of classic cowboy boots: rugged and leather, with a bit of yeehaw flare. She wore her beloved Saint Laurent aviator jacket in espresso brown and a matching studded belt. From there, Hadid added on pleated pleather pants, a knotted chocolate blouse, and pointed-toe boots.

Though her outfit reeked of Western influence, Hadid's designer handbag was perfectly in line with the elevated Parisian aesthetic. She shelved her cherished Saint Laurent Sac De Jour and instead chose a sleek, vintage-inspired Gucci design.

Hadid carried the house's Bamboo 1947 Medium Bag, featuring a leather compartment and curved wooden bamboo handle inspiring its name. The $5,600 bag is one of Gucci's best and most longstanding creations, launching for the first time in 1947. Hadid's purse, however, is a more recent interpretation, made even more modern by the silken scarf she wrapped around the handle.

And just like that, my Coachella FOMO is gone.

<![CDATA[ Body Language Experts Reveal How Kylie Jenner Is Doing the "Heavy Lifting" in Timothée Chalamet Romance ]]> Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet fans were delighted to witness the couple attending Coachella together. As well as spending time with Kylie's sister, Kendall Jenner, the pair were seen exhibiting PDA and enjoying Charli XCX's performance. But according to body language experts, the famous couple allegedly aren't on the same page about their relationship, judging by their behavior at the festival.

Celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman analyzed Jenner and Chalamet's behavior at Coachella on behalf of Casino.ca. According to Honigman, "Kylie might like Timothée more than he likes her. When they're filmed dancing and embracing together, it is Kylie who turns around towards her man, bestowing on him a loving kiss, embracing him and kissing his lips, whereas he then gives her a little peck on the cheekbone—affectionate, but not as emotionally invested."

As for the couple's behavior during Charli XCX's set, Honigman believes the pair couldn't be more different from one another. "He's clapping absent-mindedly, just having fun, whereas her hands are rubbing one another, tense," the expert explains. "Timothée isn't overthinking, but Kylie is."

Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet are reportedly in love

Chalamet was supported by Jenner throughout awards season in early 2025. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Honigman also studied Jenner and Chalamet's lips in depth, revealing that they "tell two completely different stories." "Timothée's tongue is at the side of his mouth, showing that he's thinking playful thoughts," the body language expert explains. "Kylie's mouth, on the other hand, portrays something different; she licks her lips and stretches them 'til they disappear, showing that she's a bit tense."

The celebrity body language expert continues, "Bouncing to Charli XCX, Kylie's face is full of joy; she tries to convey happiness, but there's a caveat. Kylie strokes her hair away from her face with two full hands...Hair play means that she wants people to like her."

Speaking to the Daily Mail, body language expert Judi James seemingly confirmed Honigman's analysis of Chalamet and Jenner. "Kylie looks like a focused and insistent lover who knows what she wants and expects and how it should look when it comes to PDAs, while Timothée looks easy-going and compliant in terms of not instigating but often being the first to break away," James told the outlet.

The body language expert also noted that Chalamet and Jenner's appearance at Coachella included "several sensual poses that suggest intimacy and affection." James continued, "But when some of those moments are broken down it looks like Kylie doing all the heavy lifting while Timothée appears out of sync and politely less inclined to act seductive or seduced."

<![CDATA[ The 10 Best Pear Perfumes Are Ripe to Be Your Signature Summer Scent ]]> If I were to tell you to think of a fruity scent, some quintessential notes will likely come to mind. Strawberry, mango, and cherry formulas have all become quite popular recently. And I’d be remiss not to include the classic citrus fragrances that lean a bit sweet, like lemon, bergamot, and orange. But I bet the best pear perfumes didn't cross your mind—yet.

Trust me, you'll thoroughly enjoy wearing a scent that captures the crisp, watery, and sweet fruit. Pear fragrances are silent sleepers of the perfume world. Truth be told, I didn't even realize that a few of my favorite formulas had the note listed in their descriptions. But now that I've gotten the scoop about the category, my undercover love for the scent profile makes so much sense. “Pear tends to give off a fresh and juicy expression,” says founder and chief executive officer of DedCool, Carina Chaz. “It’s a really versatile note that pairs well with sweeter scents—the duo tends to create a really beautiful balance.”

Pear perfumes are an ideal component of curating an olfactory personality or for layering with more gourmand fragrances, but they're also incredible light perfumes you'll wear on repeat during the spring and summer. I have been going down the pear perfume rabbit hole for the past few weeks, so if you’re also ready to expand your fruity-fragrance palette, keep reading to learn all you need to know about this unusual note, and shop the top ten scents every beauty editor loves.

Other Pear Perfumes That I Love

What Can I Layer With Pear Fragrance?

According to Chaz, the notes that are best paired with pear notes are a little more subdued but full-bodied. “Floral, woody, and musky notes always provide a nice addition to a pear composition,” she says. “It’s an incredibly versatile aroma.”

What Should I Look for In a Pear Perfume?

The answer to this question depends on the kinds of perfumes you find yourself naturally gravitating toward. “I'd consider pear fragrances to fall under the fruity category,” Chaz says. “So what you should look for is contingent on if you're looking for a perfume with a sweeter fragrance or more grounded, woody compositions.”

When looking at the scent descriptors, search for notes that regularly appear in the perfumes you already like. My go-to formulas tend to be woodsy, sweet, and a little creamy, so vanilla, iso e super, and ambroxan are likely notes I’d want to see paired with a pear note in a perfume. It’ll take some testing and a good bit of trial and error, but eventually, you’ll come to recognize your signature scent profile.

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner Gives a Classic White Tee the Coachella Treatment With Camo Print Add-Ons ]]> It's rare that two drastically different facets of my identity—Midwestern-grown farm girl and present-day New York City fashion editor—cross over. But thanks to Kendall Jenner and her newfound passion for camo print, today is one of the rare exceptions.

Jenner rolled up to her third day at Coachella dressed in the traditional garb of my culture. She embraced boyish layers for Travis Scott's April 13 show, combining several basics with a heavy helping of camouflage.

She started with a perfectly oversize white tee and a pair of baggy black utility pants. From there, the supermodel added in several foliage-printed garments straight from the farm supply store. These pieces included: a long-sleeve tee and fitted baseball cap, both washed in a neutral-toned leafy motif.

Jenner's laid-back 'fit was of the Billie Eilish variety—that is to say: androgynous and oversize, with '90s-era layers. In fact, it wasn't too far off from what Eilish herself wore to the California festival. It was, however, a departure from the festival aesthetic Jenner has been curating all weekend.

In the days leading up to this delightfully understated outfit, Jenner had predominantly channeled a 1950s-throwback kind of vibe. She wore multiple midi-length fit-and-flare dresses in soft, spring pastels—one by Proenza Schouler with a vintage-inspired basque waist and the other with a mock neck and a more fitted shape.

Though she loves a girly-girl moment, the normcore aesthetic has been a pillar of Jenner's style since the very beginning. It's safe to say she's returning to her roots.

<![CDATA[ We Taste-Tested Meghan Markle’s As Ever Jam, Honey and Flower Sprinkles—One Word Kept Coming Up ]]> Meghan Markle launched her long-awaited lifestyle brand As ever on April 2, with the collection of eight products selling out in less than an hour. From her often-discussed jam to tea, honey, flower sprinkles and baking mixes, the first drop from As ever seemed to be a swift success for the Duchess of Sussex. Now that shipments have hit mailboxes, I set out to see what customers really think about the products.

I was lucky to receive one of the beautiful wooden boxes full of products that As ever sent during launch week, but I also placed my own order on April 2. Having tried everything except the brand's limited-edition honey, I can confidently say Meghan's kitchen treats are worth the price. The shortbread cookies with flower sprinkles were a huge hit in my house, and if it wasn't part of a one-time drop, I'd buy the soothing lemon ginger tea on the regular. And the raspberry spread? Next-level delicious on top of some vanilla ice cream.

But what do other women think?

"I have tried the jam, honey, and tea," Lindsey W. from Texas tells Marie Claire. "I could honestly drink the jam straight from the glass jar. I haven't tasted every preserve available, so I can't claim it's the best, but it is pretty fantastic."

Lindsey continues that As ever's honey "is incredibly luxurious with the honeycomb included," noting that she's "never had honey with honeycomb in the jar, making it feel like an elevated experience."

Amelia N. echoes the sentiment, noting she was "impressed" by the "elevated" lemon ginger tea and raspberry spread. "Once steeped, the aroma is wonderfully refreshing, and the flavor has a surprising kick that I absolutely loved."

Amy H. from Arkansas, who purchased the honey, crepe mix and raspberry spread, says the spread is "an awesome middle ground between sweet and tart." Even though she admits she'd "never made crepes before," Amy says the process "was easy and delicious," adding, "It really made me feel like I knew what I'm doing!"

Another customer, Sara E., shares that she loved the raspberry spread so much that "it was gone in one day!" The Michigan resident continues, "I wish it was a tad more tart, but definitely one of the better preserves I've had." However, Sara notes, "I do wish the container was bigger," a point which I agree on. At just 7.6 ounces, the raspberry spread does run out quickly, making it on the pricier side for its small size. However, at $14 (or $9 without the keepsake packaging), the product is certainly not as expensive as prestige pantry brands like Flamingo Estate—and the flavor, IMO, is certainly worth the price.

Magen K. from Mississippi tells Marie Claire she purchased the flower sprinkles and raspberry spread and baked her own treat to use for the toppings. "I ended up making mixed berry muffins and added the jam and flowers on top," she says. "Edible flowers are cute and a pinch goes a long way."

Another flower sprinkle fan is Meredith C. "I told myself I wasn't going to get the flower sprinkles. Naturally I purchased the flower sprinkles," the Colorado resident shares. Meredith says she looked to the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix series With Love, Meghan for ideas.

"I'm not too proud to say I was heavily influenced by the various ways she used them on her show, With Love, Meghan," she shares, adding, "The container smells like the fragrant garden I do not have the green thumb for. "

In terms of packaging, many of the customers I spoke with praised the overall unboxing experience—and you guessed it, they thought it was "elevated." Lindsey W. says, "I love all the attention to detail. The tea and the cookies both have a little note on them explaining how to enjoy them and how they will contribute to your day. 'Elevated" is what keeps coming to mind."

Lindsey K. from Arizona says she "gasped upon seeing the 'handle with care' label in Meghan’s calligraphy" and "just knew she thought through every single detail of her customer's experience."

As for future improvements, multiple women mentioned to me that the purchasing process was slightly chaotic. "Meghan had the girls fighting over preserves! I felt like I was getting my Cowboy Carter tickets," Lindsey W. says, adding, "At one point the honey got snatched from my cart."

Numerous customers say they hope As ever will announce a specific launch time for future seasonal drops. However, Magen notes, "I do fear the website will crash." Also, as Lindsey W. points out, the surprise 9 a.m. EST launch meant many people on the West Coast "were not awake yet."

Luckily, Lindsey K.'s husband woke her up at 6:30 a.m. and scored major brownie points when he was able to snag one "coveted" item. "I frantically added everything available into my cart and held my breath under receiving the ‘order placed’ email," she says. "While the keepsake jam was not available for me, I heard the ding of a purchase on the other side of the bed and saw his huge smile that he got my most coveted item from me!"

<![CDATA[ Get in, We're Testing Wearable Makeup Trends for Spring 2025 ]]> Have you ever seen makeup looks on the runway and thought, woah, I could never pull that off? This happens to me every season as models float across the runways with bold eyeshadows, 3D florals, dyed brows, and so many other daunting and incredible glam looks. Runway makeup gets a bad rap for being a tad too extra for everyday wear, but we're here to debunk that myth and prove that you can take these trends from the runway to your mirror with ease.

I consulted my experts, senior branded content editor Anneliese Henderson and senior beauty editor Samantha Holender, to learn how they tap into these spring 2025 trends. And, to no surprise, they're turning to SHEGLAM for luxe beauty products that don't make you gasp at your credit card statement. "I've never believed that expensive makeup equals better makeup, and these products are proof," Anneliese says. Just for you, we explored four beauty trends that we deemed wearable, affordable, and so 2025 below.

"Hydration in the spring and summer? That's always a trend I can get behind. Juicy lips give me that fresh, moisturized pout that's ready to sip Aperol spritzes on a rooftop somewhere. There are days when I look in the mirror and ask myself, should I just get lip filler? Instead, I swipe on SHEGLAM's Bold Booster lip combo. This lip liner is one of the easiest I've ever used. It's thin, but insanely precise, perfectly defining your lips and making the color look like an extension of them. I start by lining the outside and smudging the product a bit inwards. Once that's done, I take the lip plumper gloss, squeeze it out little by little, and keep building on the product. I don't like to put too much on at once because that's when it starts to look sticky. The plumper was buttery soft, but packed a huge punch—I could totally tell my lips looked more full." — Anneliese Henderson, senior branded content editor

"The fresh-faced complexion trend is the next era of the clean-girl aesthetic. It's simple and not too fussy, but still adds some glow and a little healthy color to your skin. Rosy skin is the name of the game, so I doubled down on pink products. After creating a glowy, hydrated base with the Good Grip Hydrating Primer and applying very light foundation, I started on my flush. The Color Bloom Liquid Blush in the shade Pink Slip gave my complexion the perfect pop of color. Despite being a liquid texture, it actually dries down to resemble a silky powder. When it comes to blushes, I find that the color payoff and lasting power truly rival that of luxe competitors. For a visible tint, I found three dots to be the sweet spot. Then I turned my attention to my lips. I used one of my new favorite combos: The Bold Boosting Plumping Lip Liner (you'll feel a little tingle) with the Hydra Jelly Pocket Lip Jam in Guava Glow (its creamy texture is next-level satisfying)." — Samantha Holender, senior beauty editor

"Nothing says warm weather like a bronzed base and rosy cheeks. The moment it's time for a pool day, I'm pretending like I'm already tanned and ready to go (even if it's fake). My rule with bronzer contour? There's nowhere it can't go. I put it on my jawline, cheeks, forehead, and even on my eyelids as eyeshadow. And I did exactly that: I put it on my face straight from the bottle, and I loved how easy it was. The spongy applicator makes it so just the right amount comes out. The most important step? Blend, blend, blend. There's nothing worse than someone noticing that you faked your glow. No bronze look is complete without a little blush, so the Color Bloom Liquid Blush was the perfect companion. And the blush is ultra-pigmented, so a little goes a long way. Both products are so easy to blend, you could even do it with your fingers if you're in a pinch." — Anneliese Henderson, senior branded content editor

"We've seen colored lashes all over the runways. Add that to the fact that burgundy is the color of the season, and a mauve lash is incredibly on-trend. Colored mascara can be intimidating—and as someone who is typically more reserved when it comes to bold makeup, I decided the most approachable course of action was to opt for a monochromatic look. I leaned into the burgundy color trend, swiping the All-In-One Volume and Length Mascara on my upper and lower lashes. I added a rouge tint to my cheeks with the For the Flush Lip and Cheek Tint (a little goes a very long way, FYI) and topped off the glam with a swipe of the Booster Shine Plumping Lip Gloss in True Passion. SHEGLAM is always on top of the biggest beauty trends, so I know that with one quick purchase on the website, I'll have everything I need to bring wearable runway looks to life." — Samantha Holender, senior beauty editor

<![CDATA[ The Four Spring Shoe Trends Defining My Wardrobe Right Now ]]> Friends! I’m so excited to dig into this week’s topic—something I can’t stop thinking about and, unfortunately, shop, shop, shopping—shoe trends. Similarly to watches, I love to go deep on all things footwear. This week, I’m inspired by something I quite literally have to do, which is make space in my closet (especially in the sneaker department). Ahead, I’m sharing the four categories that are top of mind as I overhaul my personal shoe edit.

Yellow Sneakers

I generally gravitate toward white styles for spring and summer, but there’s something about yellow that’s really calling my name. I imagine wearing them similarly with shirt dresses or black trousers and a white T-shirt. Either way, they’re the ideal summer commuter shoe.

The Sneakerina

I have to credit Vogue for the portmanteau. The sneaker-slash-ballet flat has unexpectedly caught my eye and I’m considering giving it a twirl for spring.

Jelly Sandals

So fun! So silly! So summer. We have to get our kicks where we can, and nothing gives me a little dose of joy like a jelly sandal that reminds me of my childhood.

Strappy Black Sandals

There’s something so sexy about a pared-back black sandal, wouldn’t you agree? Team it with red hot pedicure or, if you’re the type to go against the grain, no polish at all.

MONDAY:

I worked from home, but eventually left my apartment to go to my next door neighbor’s for a glass of wine. The weather is still quite abysmal—cold and rainy—so I went with something warm and cozy.

TUESDAY:

I’m going to need spring to fight back because I’m so sick and tired of this cold weather! *Tantrum over*

WEDNESDAY:

Spring is still not in session, so my go-to fall coat is back in full effect for a day at the office. Very annoying!

THURSDAY:

At last, we’ve topped 45 degrees, so it’s back to light layers for a few market appointments and meetings in the office.

<![CDATA[ According to Adria Arjona, "Bigger Is Better" When it Comes Her Natural Hair Routine ]]> Beauty routines are integral to getting In The Mood—not for any other person, but for you. Here, get a glimpse into the products, habits, and mantras that help powerhouse women slip into the sexiest version of themselves.

As someone from the (stunning) island of Jamaica, I love nothing more than learning the beauty secrets of women from the tropics. From how they began embracing their natural hair to how growing up in a warmer climate influences their present-day routines, I often find myself nodding and reminiscing right alongside them as they reflect—which is exactly what happened when I got a chance to chat with actress Adria Arjona.

Hailing from Guatemala, Arjona grew up having a fraught relationship with her curly hair, which ultimately led her to Morrocanoil products. “This brand really helped me discover my curly hair when I was growing up as a teenager in a very humid environment,” Arjona tells me. “Now, having curly hair is such a big part of who I am, my aesthetic, and how I live my life." She no longer straightens her hair daily and places a big emphasis on hair health. (In a very full-circle moment, Arjona is now the face of Morrocanoil’s new L’Originale Eau de Parfum.)

Her hair routine holds some hidden gems, but Arjona has dozens of beauty products on tap that help make her feel like her most magnetic and beautiful self. Keep reading to see how the actor has curated a "rebellious" beauty routine that never fails to get her In the Mood.

PQ

Mine is all about fear, actually. My favorite saying is: “Fail, fail better, never fear, never settle.”

PQ

I love curating my shower routine to match my fragrance. So, I like using body washes that smell woody with touches of vanilla and citrus to balance things out and not make them too heavy.

PQ

I have only one signature scent—I’m trying to create a story here. I try not to switch it up. With that being said, as cliché as it sounds, I really believe that fragrances have the power to transport you to places, and I don't know this Morrocanoil perfume transports me home. It’s unisex but not too masculine, and I love it. I had an era in high school when all I would wear was really manly colognes. I’m over it now, but this feels like a nice in-between.

PQ

I'm a little bit of a rebel. I like very natural makeup. Maybe a thick eyebrow using some gel, a little bit of an over-lined lip, and some chapstick. I also love to leave my hair super curly when I go that route.

PQ

A deep red or any kind of wine color, like an Essie Wicked.

PQ

My wild curly hair. The bigger, the better. It makes me feel most like myself.

PQ

As I get older, I keep seeing parts of my mom and dad in my face. It’s kind of weird, but I also love that I keep seeing parts of my history and heritage continue to come up. I love seeing the lines and wrinkles that have come from the expressions that I regularly make. It’s like watching a map of your experiences in real time, and I love it.

PQ

I’m a die-hard believer in icing my face. t's something that I've seen my mom do, and I've continued. It really helps with my rosacea, and if I have a breakout, am inflamed or puffy, or anything along those lines, it helps to calm my skin down immediately.

<![CDATA[ The Unexpected Suggestion Princess Anne Gave Son-in-Law Mike Tindall Before He Married Her Daughter Zara ]]> Mike Tindall seems to have become an integral part of the Royal Family since marrying Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, on July 30, 2011. However, Princess Anne reportedly made a somewhat unexpected request ahead of Mike's wedding to Zara.

Prior to marrying a royal, Mike was a celebrated rugby player, who played internationally for the England team for 12 years. Known to be a dangerous sport, Mike broke his nose on numerous occasions throughout his rugby career, and he had previously broken it as a child, too.

During a 2011 appearance on TV show A League of Their Own, Mike revealed (via the Daily Mail), "Princess Anne asked me if I'd have the surgery." According to the rugby player, the Princess Royal even offered to pay for Mike to have a rhinoplasty ahead of his wedding. However, the decorated sportsperson declined his mother-in-law's suggestion, believing his nose would likely get broken again the very same year.

Expanding on his comments, Mike told the Radio Times in November 2011 (via the Daily Mail), "It was a light-hearted, jokey comment...It wasn't a big deal, and look at my nose—can you blame her?"

Eventually, it was necessary for Mike to undergo a rhinoplasty, but rather than being for aesthetic purposes, the former rugby player started finding it difficult to breathe. "My actual words to the surgeon were, 'I just want you to clear my airways and the less you straighten it the better,'" he shared with the Daily Telegraph in 2018. He continued, "I loved my nose...I didn't really want to change it but it got to the point where I couldn't breathe properly." Mike explained, "I couldn't smell properly, my sinuses were blocked, I was getting so many headaches and it was affecting my sleep."

<![CDATA[ Lip Reader Reveals the "Disapproving" Comment Queen Elizabeth Allegedly Made During Kate Middleton and Prince William's Wedding ]]> Queen Elizabeth II attended a plethora of royal weddings throughout her time as monarch, including Kate Middleton and Prince William's fairytale nuptials. The Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London. But according to a lip reader, the late Queen did make one seemingly "disapproving" comment on the couple's big day.

As reported by CBS News (via the Daily Mail), Deaf forensic lip reader Tina Lannin was able to decipher some of the private conversation the Royal Family had on Kate and William's wedding day. After the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth reportedly said, "I wanted them to take the smaller carriage." According to Lannin, Queen Camilla responded by saying, "It all went very well."

William and Kate rode in the 1902 State Landau royal carriage, which was also used by Princess Diana and King Charles on their wedding day on July 29, 1981.

Lannin also noted that, at one point, Queen Elizabeth turned to her husband, Prince Philip, and said of the wedding, "It was excellent."

Royal biographer Andrew Morton discussed the late Queen's real feelings about Kate and William's union in his book The Queen: Her Life.

"The Queen was positively playful on the day of her grandson's nuptials, 'practically skipping' according to one observer, absolutely thrilled at the way the public had reacted to the royal newlyweds," Morton wrote (via the Mirror). He continued, "She had a sense that the future of the Royal Family, her family, was now secure. The monarchy was once again held in admiration and affection by the masses."

Whether or not Queen Elizabeth's comment about Kate and William's carriage choice was truly negative remains unclear. If Morton's words are to be believed, the late Queen was incredibly proud of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the delightful reception they received.

<![CDATA[ Palace Employees Reveal They've "All Tried" to Get King Charles to "Slow Down" Amid Cancer Treatment ]]> King Charles was recently hospitalized due to side effects caused by his ongoing cancer treatment, but don't expect the monarch to slow down any time soon. Despite it being reported that there is only one person King Charles will listen to regarding his health—his wife Queen Camilla—it appears as though The King's spouse has her limitations. According to Buckingham Palace sources, everyone from Charles's royal aides to wife Camilla has tried to influence the monarch's schedule, and they've all been unsuccessful so far.

When asked whether King Charles had been officially advised to scale back on his workload, a senior palace official told The Sun, "We've all tried! But as people will have seen, The King enjoys his work."

Queen Camilla weighed in on her husband's fast-paced lifestyle, telling reporters (via The Sun), "No, I think he loves his work and it keeps him going." She continued, "And I think it's wonderful, you know, if you've been ill and you are recovering, you're getting better and now he wants to do more and more and more. That's the problem."

Earlier this month, royal commentator Phil Dampier appeared on an episode of The Sun's "Royal Exclusive" show, and suggested that The King needs to cut back on his "ridiculous" schedule. "Camilla is forever telling him to slow down," Dampier explained. "She'd like him to pace himself. She'd like him to take it easy, but he's just got this work ethic."

Dampier also shared that King Charles was known for "working late into the night and literally falling asleep at his desk." According to the royal expert, The King "likes being busy," but it seems as though he "needs to curtail that sort of ridiculous workload."

<![CDATA[ The Special Gift Princess Lilibet Received From "Papa" Prince Harry in Meghan Markle's Latest Instagram Post ]]> Prince Harry recently returned to the U.K., where he attended appeal hearings in court regarding the removal of his security detail. After leaving London, the Duke of Sussex visited the Ukraine, where he was given a special gift to share with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie.

In an adorable Instagram Story video shared by Duchess Meghan, Princess Lilibet was shown dividing up a special cake, while her dad Prince Harry's voice could be heard in the background. "A special gift 'papa brought back from Ukraine,'" the caption explained.

The Duchess of Sussex also shared two photos on her Instagram Stories, the first of which showed Prince Harry receiving the gift in the Ukraine, captioned, "A gift for our family." The second photo showed two of the women who baked the gift, with the caption, "Made with love."

Yulia Svyrydenko, the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, shared Meghan's message on X, with the caption, "The whole team is just crying, because a pastry made by grandmothers from Sumy region made from flour from demined fields is now on the table of Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and their family. And next to it is a pysanka from Oksana Tsybukh in memory of Ira."

In a follow-up message, Svyrydenko wrote, "Your Royal Highness, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everything that your family is doing for Ukraine, and for helping us draw the world's attention to humanitarian demining in Ukraine. Demining will allow millions of displaced Ukrainians to return home, and allow thousands of children to go to school without fear. This means so very much to all of us!"

The message continued, "A remarkable group of women who live in the border region of Sumy, an area affected by landmines, have prepared this Easter bread for you and your family. Today, they, along with all of us, are deeply moved, knowing that this symbolic offering—Easter bread, made from flour harvested from demined fields—will be on your table. Thank you, from all Ukrainians, for your kindness and good-heartedness!"

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner Trades a Classic Coachella Bag for a $5,600 The Row Tote ]]> Kendall Jenner has already had an extremely busy first weekend at Coachella, thanks to her 818 Tequila pop-up, which was attended by celebrities like her friend Hailey Bieber. But just because she's in the middle of the desert, Jenner isn't about to sacrifice her style.

The model was photographed spending time with sister Kylie Jenner and her Oscar-nominated boyfriend Timothée Chalamet. At first glance, Kendall's outfit appeared to be much more relaxed than the Proenza Schouler dress she wore at the 818 Outpost. But upon closer inspection, it quickly became clear that her second Coachella outfit wasn't cheap, either.

Instead of carrying a simple festival bag, Jenner opted for The Row's Marlo Tote Bag in Moss Leather. The chic bag retails for $5,600, is currently sold out, and has a waitlist. Luckily, the bag is still available to shop in alternate colors.

Aside from her $5,600 bag, the rest of Jenner's outfit was wonderfully understated. The model wore a pair of washed-out black jeans, a simple tank top, black sunglasses, and a pair of silver sneakers. The slim profile of Jenner's sneakers perfectly aligns with one of 2025's inescapable sneaker trends. Along with super-slender sneakers, ballet sneakers have also found a celebrity fanbase in recent months.

Jenner is a fan of The Row's tote bags, and has been photographed carrying several different designs—The Row's Park XL Textured-Leather Tote and the brand's Nuance Leather Tote Bag are also in the 818 Tequila founder's extensive collection.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber's Coachella Outfit Pairs Vintage Mugler With One of 2025's Inescapable Sneaker Trends ]]> Hailey Bieber is making the most of her time at Coachella, and that includes pairing vintage Mugler halter tops with trendy slim sneakers for the perfect high-low outfit.

Bieber supported close friend Kendall Jenner at the 818 Tequila pop-up at Coachella, where both models wore gorgeous spring dresses for the desert setting. After spending time at the 818 Outpost, the Rhode founder changed into a vintage Mugler halter top featuring flame detailing for an evening at the festival. The makeup mogul paired her vintage Mugler top with Gimaguas "Lula" Trousers in black, which are available to preorder for $217.

From Onitsuka Tiger sneakers to Adidas It-sneakers, Bieber's footwear choices are always on point. For Coachella, the model opted for $475 Dries Van Noten Leather-trimmed Suede Sneakers. With their slim profile, Bieber's sneaker choice for Coachella taps into a growing trend for slimmer, ballet-inspired footwear.

Bieber gave fans a closer look at her Mugler halter top on Instagram, with her photos showing the red flames creeping towards her neck. The difficult to track down top appears to be from one of Thierry Mugler's '90s collections, and is currently listed for $7,000 on one resale site.

As well as having an extensive collection of celeb-beloved bags, Bieber's presumably huge shoe closet certainly approves of 2025's resurgent slim sneaker trend. Whether she's combining cherry red Adidas sneakers with head to toe leopard-print, or picking the perfect pair of black loafers to complete her weekend outfit, Bieber's style always has my attention.

In 2023, Bieber spoke to Dazed about her burgeoning beauty brand, Rhode, and what it has in common with fashion. "[T]he whole philosophy behind the brand is 'one of everything, really good,'" she told the outlet. "And having this kind of wardrobe-style skincare was something that made a lot of sense for me. I was talking about it when we were developing the brand like, 'You know when you just find that really good leather jacket or the perfect pair of jeans and the perfect t-shirt, then you have the perfect outfit.'"

<![CDATA[ Tyla Styles Her Vintage Dolce & Gabbana Coachella Costume With Stacks of Pandora Jewelry ]]> Tyla performed at Coachella on Friday, April 11, and she did so with the help of a vintage Dolce & Gabbana outfit and a plethora of Pandora jewelry.

The South African singer—who is also the global brand ambassador for Pandora—wore a gold crystal bra from Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2000 RTW show, which she paired with a red and white brocade belt featuring a black fringe, taken from the same collection. Tyla completed her outfit with ripped fishnet stockings, Leona lace-up boots from Burju, and a torn white vest.

All of Tyla's jewelry came from Pandora, including the brand's Infinite 14k White Gold Double Lab-grown Diamond Drop Earrings, a stack of five Organically Shaped Bangles, and several Pandora Timeless Pavé Rings. The musician also wore a Pandora ME Shark Tooth Mini Dangle Charm.

<![CDATA[ How Kate Middleton Is Influencing Son Prince George's Fashion Choices, Starting With One of Her Favorite Brands ]]> Prince George reportedly "insists on dressing" just like his dad, Prince William. However, George's mom, Kate Middleton, is seemingly having quite an influence on the future king, too.

While George has regularly been called Prince William's "mini-me," Princess Kate appears to be helping her eldest son with his style. During an appearance at a soccer game alongside Prince William on April 9, Prince George wore a stylish navy blazer from Reiss, via Hello! magazine. The Princess of Wales has worn Reiss clothing numerous times, incorporating the brand's chic blazers and rewearable dresses into her wardrobe. As a result, George's Reiss blazer doesn't seem like an accident, but a very purposeful decision to cultivate the young prince's style with brands his parents trust.

Princess Kate's style is continually praised, with items the royal has worn regularly selling out. It seems entirely possible that George could have the very same effect on the general public in the not-too-distant future.

William and George, who are both Aston Villa FC fans, were photographed in Paris on April 9, during the UEFA Champions League. The pair were joined by William's friend Thomas van Straubenzee at Parc des Princes stadium to watch Paris Saint-Germain play against Aston Villa.

Prince William gave an unexpected interview to TNT Sports regarding the game, which was shared in an Instagram Reel. Discussing his attendance in Paris, William explained, "Well I've got my son here as well, I'm on best behavior." The Prince of Wales also shared his hope that Aston Villa may succeed in winning the Champions League for the first time in 43 years. "I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition," the royal explained. "I hope it's not 43 years before the next time it happens. I think those memories are really important to create."

<![CDATA[ Royal Expert Shares Why King Charles Had to Be "Very Careful" and "Couldn't" Meet Prince Harry During U.K. Visit ]]> On April 9, Prince Harry attended the final day of hearings in the appeal regarding a U.K. court's decision to remove his taxpayer-funded security. According to a royal expert, King Charles didn't meet with his youngest son, Prince Harry, for a very important reason.

Prince Harry's lawyer recently shared that the Duke of Sussex felt "forced to step back" from royal life because of the removal of his security team. Speaking to the Daily Mail's "Palace Confidential" show, royal biographer Robert Hardman opened up about King Charles's decision to not see Harry during his time in London. Hardman explained, "There is legal jeopardy which is the simple fact that here you have the son of The King suing The King's ministers in The King's court and that just creates all sorts of legal problems."

The biographer continued, "It would only need Harry to have a conversation with his father and then afterwards let slip, 'Oh, my dad said this or my dad said that'...That could lead to all sorts of problems. It could actually bring down a court case because The King is the fount of justice. He has got to be very careful."

Hardman also admitted that, aside from any legal complications, "there may be other reasons why The King doesn't want to see Harry right now." The royal expert explained, "Let's not forget, there is a lot of stress...[Charles] is someone undergoing medical treatment so people are trying to keep the stress levels down, but his legal advice is, you can't have a conversation until all this is sorted out."

Harry's barrister, Shaheed Fatima KC, previously explained that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "felt forced to step back from the role of full-time official working members of the Royal Family as they considered they were not being protected by the institution."

In court on April 9, Fatima said (via the Mirror), "There is a person sitting behind me whose safety, whose security, and whose life is at stake. There is a person sitting behind me who is being told he is getting a special bespoke process when he knows and has experienced a process that is manifestly inferior in every respect."

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner's Spring Coachella Dresses Are Inspiring Me to Ditch My Winter Wardrobe ]]> Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner are making the most of the sun during Coachella's first weekend. The models, who are close friends, were both spotted in Indio, California on April 11, where Jenner's 818 Tequila hosted the 818 Outpost at the festival for the third consecutive year. For the occasion, both Jenner and Bieber wore spring dresses, although their outfits couldn't have been more different.

Bieber opted for a backless black halter dress with a high neck, which she accessorized with a pair of Toeme Leather Heeled Flip Flops, Saint Laurent's SL 557 Sunglasses, and her vintage Piaget watch. This isn't the first time Bieber has worn her Toeme heeled sandals, with the $450 footwear even making it out on a date with husband Justin Bieber.

The 818 Outpost included "a 1970s Autocamp Soirée backdrop," and served cocktails made with 818 Tequila, Sprinter Vodka Soda, CELSIUS Energy, Califia Farms, and Saint James Iced Tea, per a press release. Jenner's company also partnered with a number of brands for the event, including Postmates and Good American, and Anderson .Paak's alter ego, DJ Pee .Wee, provided the music. Alongside Bieber, special guests included Alex Consani, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Alix Earle.

<![CDATA[ Lisa's First Solo Coachella Costumes "Explore the Spectrum" of Her 'Alter Ego' Era ]]> The first time Lisa took the stage at Coachella, she performed as one of four members in the K-pop band Blackpink. Her peony, sequin-coated costume coordinated with the rest of her girl group; she had her spotlight moments, but she wasn't the only star.

Two years later, Lisa booked a coveted solo slot on Coachella's 2025 lineup, armed with a smash album Alter Ego and a setlist that showed her stylistic range. One minute, she's all swagger against the thrumming beats of "Rockstar" and "Thunder"; the next, she's sweet and starry-eyed on "Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)." Bringing that spectrum of music to life required costumes that weren't just complementary to her sounds. They needed to show her range. Enter: designer Asher Levine.

Levine is modern pop royalty's first stop for their most bombastic performances and music videos. Taylor Swift tapped the designer to create her "Bad Blood"-era costumes; Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga are also satisfied clients. He combines familiar onstage silhouettes—like a skintight bodysuit—with "extreme textures." One minute, an Asher Levine A-lister can resemble an alien princess from a far-off planet in a set complete with glowing lights; the next, she can tap her inner superhero in a molded bodysuit with hyperrealistic muscles.

In other words? Levine gets what stars are looking for when they want to break the mold—whether it's the one they've been placed in or one they've made themselves. "I've always been about being different and unique and [exploring] what is other," Levine tells Marie Claire a few hours before Lisa's Coachella set. "I love it when these new pop stars on the block want to be futuristic and they want to show a different side of their badass self. It's so cool that Lisa is living her alter egos in my designs."

Her first look, a "Reptile Villain" suit, included hyperrealistic scales and fang-like embellishments along the shoulders. (Image credit: Courtesy Asher Levine)

Levine joined forces with Brett Alan Nelson, the stylist and creative director tapped for Lisa's set, only a month before the performance. Landing on her two costumes was a fluid conversation: Lisa's team would bring the references, Levine would filter them through his lens of nature-inspired detailing and careful tailoring, and then the group would refine each look until it was perfect.

To open the set, "I pitched a full reptilian villain texture to Lisa, and she chose that," Levine says. "She wanted scales, and I said, 'Honey, I'll show you scales.'"

The final opening look consisted of a skintight, longsleeve bodysuit resembling the armor of an intergalactic serpent queen. Curving spikes jutted from the structured shoulders and all the way down her arms. Black scales with iridescent shimmer coated the sleeves, bodice, and legs with 3-D texture. (Levine's reptilian references are in part inspired by firsthand experience: Lenore, his rescue iguana, tagged along to rehearsals, to Lisa's delight.) After an initial sketch, Levine consulted Nelson for one additional detail to tie it all together: "a late '90s, Britney-like slouched front belt element."

For added drama, Levine also crafted a floor-sweeping, puffy black coat— designed specifically to be torn off in two pieces after Lisa's opening song.

Once Lisa was ready for her setlist to take a softer turn, the team swerved in a new aesthetic direction. Out with the hard scales and spikes sharper than venomous fangs; in with fairy lights and curves inspired by the stamen of blooming flowers. The mood board for her second costume even got back to nature, Levine says: "They showed me specific references of bioluminescent insects, bioluminescent mushrooms, bioluminescent veins."

The final result combined shades of turquoise, pink, and opalescent white cast from a glass-like material, with tendrils of glowing lights curving from Lisa's top and hips with the grace of a butterfly. Levine combined UV lights and UV reactive pigments into the "petals" of the shoulder details, a feat of fashion engineering. As she performed, the stage lights landing on her costume would cast an "ethereal glow effect."

Levine says his team was working on the light-up elements in Lisa's shoes in the hours leading up to her performance. (Image credit: Elia Berthoud)

The highlight of working on Lisa's Coachella costumes was their combined parts, Levine says. Both looks were futuristic and adventurous, but they harmonized with her music in distinct movements—two pieces of a nuanced, indefinable whole. "It was really cool to explore the spectrum," he adds. "When Lisa's on stage, she's showing all of these different parts of herself: from really soft and ethereal to hard and 'f–ck up the world.'"

Levine says the dichotomy of Lisa's Coachella costumes prove she "can't be put in a box." (Image credit: Elia Berthoud)

An underlying idea of Lisa's performance looks—that she contains multitudes, and they all deserve a moment in the fashion spotlight—plays out way beyond the Coachella. "People want to explore different parts of their identity through how they visually project themselves," Levine says, "and I really see my girl, guy or [anyone] in between wearing a floral dress one day and then wanting to be a little bit darker the next." Trust that the next time Lisa headlines a concert, she'll let another alter ego take center stage.

<![CDATA[ Bella Hadid Combines Two Controversial Y2K Denim Trends With a Leather Biker Chic Jacket ]]> Bella Hadid is currently in Paris, where she's filming Ryan Murphy's forthcoming series, The Beauty. Whether she's modeling or acting, one thing is for certain: Hadid isn't afraid to revive a controversial trend. In fact, the supermodel just revived two Y2K denim trends with one pair of jeans on the streets of the French capital.

After being spotted riding a motorcycle and filming a violent, bloody scene for the new series, Hadid was photographed wearing a pair of low-low-rise jeans, which also featured the recently resurrected puddle-hem. Hadid's aughts-coded pair of jeans featured stud-lined pockets and were fastened with a chunky black belt with a silver buckle. The influential model paired her dark wash jeans with a black turtleneck crop top, and a subtle black blazer, which was hidden behind an edgy leather biker jacket.

Gigi Hadid's sister completed her outfit with black sunglasses, black pumps, and her beloved Saint Laurent Sac De Jour in Crocodile-Embossed Leather. Hadid has an extensive designer bag collection, and the Orebella founder seems to favor a larger tote version of Saint Laurent's iconic bag, which retails for $3,550. Luckily, the sleek style comes in multiple sizes, colors, and grains for every taste.

Hadid regularly leads the way when it comes to reviving retro trends or inspiring new ones. Recently, she's hopped on the studded bag trend, shared her adoration for 2025's It-shoe—the ballerina sneaker—and secured Coach's must-have Empire bag.

Hadid recently shared the second drop of her collaboration with Frankies Bikinis, writing on Instagram, "this one is so special." She continued, "frankie and I grew up side by side, and now our brands get to do the same. a collaboration of love, friendship, and worlds coming together the way they were always meant to. @orebella x @frankiesbikinis...from us, to you. hope you love it as much as we do."

<![CDATA[ What to Know About Taylor Dearden, the Actress Who Plays Dr. Mel King on 'The Pitt' ]]> Max's medical drama The Pitt has been the surprise word-of-mouth hit of 2025 television, largely thanks to its excellent ensemble. The series follows a group of Pittsburgh ER doctors throughout a 15-hour day in real time, with each episode of the first season covering an hour of their shift. The crew of medical workers range from senior doctors and nurses to newbies still in medical school, going through the most stressful first day of work ever.

One of these standout junior doctors is Melissa "Mel" King, a second-year emergency-medicine resident played by Taylor Dearden. Throughout The Pitt's first season, the caring and cheerful doctor has become one of the series' fan-favorite characters and has been lauded as an important portrayal of neurodivergence on television. In real life, Dearden is a rising star who shares many similarities with her character. Below, read on to learn more about The Pitt star Taylor Dearden, including her hopes for Mel in The Pitt season 2.

Taylor Dearden is the daughter of acclaimed actor Bryan Cranston.

Taylor Dearden Cranston, 32, is an L.A. native and third-generation actor. She was born in February 1993 to actors Bryan Cranston and Robin Gale Dearden. She made her television debut appearance in a season 3 episode of her father's iconic crime series Breaking Bad and went on to star in short films and a web series before graduating from the University of Southern California with a theater degree.

Before The Pitt, Taylor primarily starred in cult-hit TV series, including the MTV buddy dramedy Sweet/Vicious and the Netflix mockumentary American Vandal. She also had a small role in the Apple TV+ drama For All Mankind.

Her real-life experience with ADHD helped inform her character Mel.

From the first episodes of The Pitt, fans recognized that Mel King exhibited characteristics common to neurodivergence herself, in addition to being a caretaker for her twin sister, who's on the autism spectrum. Though it hasn't been confirmed in the show, Dearden has been vocal in interviews about how she pushed for Mel to have ADHD on the show, a condition that the actress shares in real life.

"I’m neurodivergent, so I think it’s really coming from me,” Dearden said when asked about Mel's neurodivergent coding in a Decider interview. “I have severe ADHD. So we’re on the same spectrum now as autism, which was I think for all ADHD people was like, ‘Ohhhhh.’ And then all autistic people are like, ‘That’s why we got along with them.’ I’ve never really seen a character, especially with ADHD, but being on the same spectrum, it just feels, it felt right anyway.”

While speaking with Collider, Dearden explained that Mel's unspecified neurodiversity became "a bit of a superpower" during season 1's mass shooting arc, where the resident managed to stay extremely calm under pressure.

"I'm on the same ADHD/autism spectrum, and something that we're really good at is emergencies," she said of herself and her character. "Apparently, we are overly represented in every emergency department, which is fine because Langdon actually has that line of, 'Well, we all have ADHD. What else would we be doing?' There's a thing that clicks in us with an emergency—I don't know how to describe it except as a superpower—and we're able to just see every individual problem without getting overwhelmed. We're the ones who run towards the fire, often. That's another one: fire departments are heavily ADHD."

She thinks her character Mel as asexual (and therefore maybe won't end up with Langdon).

Sorry to Pittheads who've been shipping Mel with Dr. Langdon (played by Patrick Ball), but Dearden doesn't think romance is in the cards for the mentor and mentee. In fact, in an interview with USA Today, the actress hinted that Mel isn't likely to have a workplace romance arc.

"I think Mel is asexual. I don’t think that’s part of how Mel would think—especially at work. She’s a hyper professional," she told the outlet. When asked about the fan response to Mel and Langdon's friendship, she added, "I didn’t know people were thinking that. That’s really funny. The funny thing is Patrick [Ball] is always like, ‘God, you remind me of my sister.'"

Dearden also recalled her and Ball's initial reaction to the shipping in an interview with Vulture.

"That was never a thought in my mind, playing Mel. I don’t think she has time for romance or ever has had time. I don’t think that’s really in her brain at all," she said. "When someone said that, I burst out laughing, and I texted Patrick, like, 'Wait, why are they shipping us?' He’s like, 'I have no idea.' He made a really good point. He goes, 'Yes, but isn’t it fortunate that we get to show a really close friendship between a man and a woman and not be sexualized?' I went, 'Yes, you’re right.' I think having Mel around really softens him and makes him listen more and slow down. And I think Mel gets so much of a confidence boost from Langdon because he’ll take the time to say, 'Hey, look at me: That was great.' That’s all Mel’s ever wanted."

She has one big wish for Mel in 'The Pitt' season 2.

With season 2 of The Pitt set to start filming just weeks after the season 1 finale, Dearden has shared her hopes for Mel's storyline in the upcoming episodes. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actress revealed that she wants Mel to have an ally who truly understands her thinking.

"I would love to see some friendship, to have something more on the peer level, or someone who genuinely tries to understand Mel’s neurodivergence," she said. "With me, it’s so helpful to have either a partner or friends who know what your neurodivergence is so that, when I will inevitably put my foot in my mouth, they’ll be able to come in and go, 'She means this.' To not have any ally like that at work with such an intense job would be really tough—to just constantly be misunderstood, without anyone trying to understand. I’d love to see someone get it and latch on."

<![CDATA[ We Owe Dr. Trinity Santos From 'The Pitt' an Apology ]]> Just halfway through the first episode of The Pitt, most fans had already made an easy diagnosis: Dr. Trinity Santos—an intern, recently tossed into the fast-paced trauma conveyor-belt that is the Pittsburgh Medical Center—was, in fact, the most unlikable character on TV. Over the course of 15 hours, that theory would be tested. Potential mass shooters, anti-vaxxers, incels, belligerent patients, and a psychiatric hold known simply as The Kraken, would pass through the emergency department doors. Residents would get screamed at, nurses physically assaulted, med students pissed on, and still, Trinity Santos (Isa Briones) would wind up on the top of our collective hit list.

She’s what’s known in medical circles as a “gunner.” Overly ambitious, unnecessarily competitive, ungovernable, and conceited. Santos was the antithesis of the show’s more timid, saccharine med students. They were overwhelmed, emotional, and constantly seeking approval. She was desperate to insert a chest tube. They were fainting at the sight of blood, getting sprayed by bodily fluids, and self-soothing to a lava lamp app. She was bullying people with insulting, uninspired nicknames and threading balloons into bleeding aortas. They gave out teddy bears. She gave a flirty surgical resident an open wound courtesy of an ill-timed scalpel pass.

In other words, if TV has some kind of unlikability lab, that’s where Trinity Santos was cooked up.

It didn’t help that she was also the de-facto nemesis of the show’s resident bad boy, a blue-eyed, chiseled-jaw in black scrubs with a maverick streak who was impossible not to love. Patrick Ball’s Frank Langdon is the kind of thirst trap that can only be treated with a steady saline drip and a mandatory psych hold, and yet, Santos spent the better part of the season bickering with him over cases, questioning his authority, and investigating his misuse of patient meds. Her dogged crusade to expose his drug addiction might have been the right call, ethically speaking, but it certainly didn’t endear her to audiences already frustrated by her arrogance and lack of self-awareness. And it would’ve been easy, understandable even, for a show as ambitious as The Pitt—where each episode spans just one hour in the hellish bowels of a trauma one center—to keep a character like Santos two-dimensional. She’s the sarcastic shit stirrer meant to make us appreciate the Mel Kings and Victoria Javadis and Dennis Whitakers of the world. She’s more interested in cracking open a man’s sternum like a pistachio to see how things work than being a do-gooder healing the sick. These two things are not the same, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for the Trinity Santoses of the world in medicine…and on TV.

isa briones as dr. santos with a stethoscope around her neck in the pitt

Dr. Santos is what's known in medical circles as a "gunner." (Image credit: Warrick Page/Max)

The Pitt’s sixth episode is when the show began to make the case for Santos as a character worthy of, if not redemption, at least respect. When the wife of a patient reveals her suspicions that her husband’s been molesting their pre-teen daughter, Santos takes it upon herself to advocate for the girl despite pushback from her advising attendings. She’s bumbling and awkward with the kid and out of her depth with the man’s wife—a woman so desperate she’s begun microdosing her husband’s coffee with progesterone to curb his libido—but she refuses to accept that simply treating his wounds is the only difference she can make in an impossible situation. While he’s prone and practically paralyzed on a gurney, Santos delivers a devastating monologue, hinting at her own past experiences with predators in positions of power before quietly threatening the man should he ever hurt his daughter again. It’s a powerful turning point for her and for us—the first time cracks begin to form in her armor of sarcasm and snark to show the kind of vulnerability and compassion that lurk underneath.

And just as The Pitt constantly forced its characters to confront their own preconceived biases when treating patients, we were asked to confront why a character like Trinity Santos so easily got under our skin. After all, she was molded from the same cowboy doctor archetype as Ball’s Langdon, the pair so similar they couldn’t help but clash, two like-charged particles repelling each other in explosive fashion. What was amusing, endearing, and impressive about Langdon—his cocksure attitude, his thwarting of the rules, and his nonconformist approach to practicing medicine—was off-putting, irresponsible, and dangerous in Santos. Assertiveness, decisiveness, independence—these are traits we inadvertently think of as masculine, so when Langdon expressed them, they felt familiar and comfortable. But when Santos co-opted them, we called her difficult, unfeeling, and an asshole.

Just as 'The Pitt' constantly forced its characters to confront their own preconceived biases when treating patients, we were asked to confront why a character like Trinity Santos so easily got under our skin.

And she couldn’t win by playing the empathy card either. While the softness and sensitivity of someone like Dr. King (Taylor Dearden) was praised by her fellow doctors and viewers as refreshing and progressive, when Santos tried to exhibit the same—in her own, admittedly clumsy way—she was accused by her superiors of overstepping and possessing a bad bedside manner. Her sincere attempt to bond with Whitaker (Gerran Howell) and Javadi (Shabana Azeez) fell flat because they didn’t come with full-fledged apologies and self-censure. (As if anyone has time amidst all the antiseptic and adrenaline to say sorry for things that happened hours earlier.)

Even now, after her kickass heroics performed during a mass casualty event and her heartwarming campaign to prove to a suicidal college kid that his life was worth living, for some, that won’t be enough. The show’s season finale dug up nuggets of Santos’s childhood trauma, tying her experiences back to patient interactions that happened in earlier episodes in an attempt to answer our “why.”

isa briones and taylor dearden talking to each other in a still from the pitt

Dr. Santos speaks to Dr. Melissa "Mel" King (Taylor Dearden), who has become a fan-favorite character. (Image credit: Warrick Page/Max)

Why was she so resistant to male authority? Why did she react so strongly to claims of child sex abuse? Because she had been preyed on before.

Why was she so harsh when confronting teenagers overdosing on fentanyl? Why couldn’t she ignore Langdon’s addiction problem? Why did she fight to treat a patient’s mental illness with the same attention and care afforded to his physical trauma? Because she lost someone in a horrific way and is constantly trying to prevent the same outcome in the people she treats.

She’s not pleasant or personable even when she’s extending an olive branch to Whitaker. After discovering he’s broke and living in the hospital, she’s still hurling harsh nicknames and psychologically torturing him for giggles. She’s not likable, but she’s not unlikable either. She’s flawed and nuanced, a female character so complex she can polarize audiences and inspire entire think pieces about her many, many layers. (This one included.)

She’s interesting, unpredictable even, and she’s someone who, despite her shortcomings, feels worth rooting for. She’s not the worst character on this show, but she might just be the most watchable.

<![CDATA[ Meet the Cast of Hulu's New Reality Show 'Got to Get Out ]]> Hulu's new series Got to Get Out is the latest reality TV show made to appeal to fans of The Traitors. Arriving on the heels of Netflix's Million Dollar Secret, Got to Get Out also places a group of contestants into one mansion and makes them go toe-to-toe for a $1,000,000 prize pot. However, this show's gameplay is made to see how cutthroat its cast of reality alums and everyday normies can get.

The series is set over 10 days as a money clock slowly climbs towards the full million, and whichever cast members are still in the house when the pot reaches its maximum will split the remaining money evenly. However, the contestants also randomly get chances to escape the locked house and make a run for the property's front gate a quarter-mile away. If they can make it before the rest of the cast closes the gate, they'll take whatever money's currently on the clock with them.

To make up the show's cast, Hulu recruited 10 familiar faces from the most popular reality franchises—from the Bachelor franchise to Real Housewives to The Hills—and 10 newcomers hoping for TV fame. Read on for everything to know about the cast of Got to Get Out.

<![CDATA[ White Nails Don't Care About Your Seasonal Rules Anymore ]]> Once reserved for weddings and beach vacations, white nail polish has officially rebranded. What was once considered basic is now rich-girl coded—quietly luxe, surprisingly versatile, and all over your feed. The sudden surge proves it's no longer just a seasonal fling. The white nail trend has become synonymous with celebs, influencers, and polish brands alike—not just because it's a neutral that pairs with everything, but because it gives off that "I have a standing appointment" kind of vibe.

I'll be honest: Hailey Bieber deserves her flowers. She basically launched the white-adjacent nail takeover a few years back with her signature frosty finishes and the forever-iconic glazed donut manicure. While other color trends like mocha mousse and wine are often accompanied by maximalist nail art, white polish is decidedly staying true to its understated persona. It's now a year-round staple with a million (minimalist) personalities: bright and opaque, sheer and milky, shimmery and chrome. Whether you're into polish or press-ons, there's a white nail color that fits the bill—keep reading for my absolute favorites.

<![CDATA[ The 11 Best Lip Glosses For Glass-Like Shine, Tested By Beauty Editors ]]> Lip gloss has officially made its comeback—and no, not in the sticky, frosted way you might remember from the early aughts. The best lip glosses are skincare-meets-makeup, packed with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen-boosting peptides, and moisturizing oils that leave your lips feeling soft, smooth, and plump with a shiny finish.

Whether you're after a high-shine clear gloss to layer over your favorite lip liner, a lip treatment to smooth lip lines, a tinted gloss that doubles as your go-to lip color, or a plumping formula that gives your lips a visibly fuller look without the sting, there's something out there for every vibe. And because lip gloss is one of the most low-maintenance beauty products (no mirror? no biggie), it's an easy way to elevate your look in seconds. Plus, thanks to upgraded formulas and better-than-ever textures, today's glosses actually stay put—without a glue-like, tacky feel.

Finding the one (or five) to add to your routine can be a bit overwhelming so to help streamline your shopping, I asked dermatologists and makeup artists what to look for. I also tested the top-rated picks, with a little help from the Marie Claire team, to find the lip glosses that live up to the hype. Ahead, the 11 best lip glosses of 2025 that deliver on shine, hydration, and longevity.

What To Look For In A Lip Gloss

Ingredients

Think of lip glosses as skincare with shine, says board-certified dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD. Some of the best ingredients to look for include:

 • Hyaluronic acid, which hydrates by pulling in moisture like a magnet
 • Peptides, which support collagen for smoother, firmer lips
 • Antioxidants (like Vitamin E), to protect against environmental stress
 • Moisturizing oils and butters, such as jojoba, shea, or avocado to soften and seal in hydration

Lip Concerns

 • Chapped Lips: Look for formulas that hydrate and repair. Key ingredients to look out for include lanolin, shea butter, and squalane, which help soothe and lock in moisture, says Dr. Gohara. Another common ingredient found in lip glosses is hyaluronic acid, which will draw in water for added hydration. She also notes that you should avoid menthol, alcohol, or added fragrance, which can worsen irritation.
 • Lip Lines: Opt for glosses that smooth and plump. Dr. Gohara suggests formulas filled with peptides and ceramides—two key proteins that support elasticity and barrier repair. She also adds that bakuchiol and gentle renewers can boost cell turnover without the sting or irritation of retinol. Finally, keep an eye out for moisture-rich formulas "since reflective gloss naturally diffuses the appearance of fine lines."

How Does A Lip Plumper Work?

According to Dr. Gohara, there are two main types of plumping glosses: the spicy kind and the skincare kind. The first type relies on mild irritants—think capsicum, menthol, or cinnamon—that trigger a controlled swelling response. "This mild inflammation leads to temporary volume," Dr. Gohara says. It's the kind of gloss that gives you that immediate, tingly boost right after application.

The second type takes a gentler, more hydrating approach. These formulas use ingredients like hyaluronic acid and peptides, which draw moisture into the lips and support collagen production for a fuller look over time. "One gives a quick, spicy boost; the other is a slow burn of plumping—think instant vs. investment," says Dr. Gohara.

What Is The Longest-Lasting Lip Gloss?

Gloss isn't exactly known for its staying power—eating, drinking, and talking will wear it down pretty quickly. "Lip gloss doesn't last long," says makeup artist Natalie Dresher. "However, it's such an easy thing to reapply I wouldn't sweat it!"

Still, if you're aiming for longevity, opt for formulas with a slightly tackier texture or a gel-oil base, which tend to grip better than super-slippery options. High-shine glosses that lean balm-like can also wear more evenly throughout the day.

For something even longer lasting, go for a gloss-stain hybrid. These formulas combine the pigment of a stain with a glossy top layer, so even once the shine fades, you're left with a flush of color underneath.

<![CDATA[ I Already Know These 18 Tops Will Be the Backbone of My Summer Wardrobe ]]> Not many pieces in my wardrobe are as versatile as a great summer top. That's why they're a staple in all my tried-and-true outfit formulas. I can rely on a simple white tank top to pair with various skirts for an effortless summer work outfit. An off-the-shoulder top with black jeans serves as a reliable going-out look. And whenever I'm in a fashion rut, I can combine any pretty top with trendy denim for a quick yet stylish outfit. So, I'm updating my summer wardrobe with a few items before the new season begins.

After browsing the sale sections at my favorite retailers, I found plenty of options to elevate my cute summer outfits. There's the under-$50, '90s-inspired tube top from Abercrombie & Fitch, which I would wear with a slinky slip skirt and slingback heels. I also discovered a leopard-print Ganni top, popularized by Copenhagen It-girls, that you can grab for 30 percent off. Additionally, there's plenty of summer workwear on sale from Banana Republic and Gap.

<![CDATA[ This Summer, My Afro Has One Muse: Kerry Washington ]]> Kerry Washington is letting her curls down. On April 10, the actress posted a picture with her parents in honor of National Siblings Day, poking fun at the fact that she’s an only child. In it, she’s wearing a soft smokey eye, a pink lip, and the most adorable curly afro that perfectly frames her face.

Washington is well-known for playing around with different hairstyles, but occasionally, she lets her natural curls take center stage. This look was free of the trendy accessories that we’ve been seeing all over Hollywood (giant claw clips and metallic cuffs have been particularly popular this season)—instead, she opted for a deep side part that created a faux bang. This technique is simple but showcases the versatility of afro hairstyles. It also allowed her rich espresso brown lowlights to take center stage.

Afros are one of my favorite natural hairstyles, thanks to the fact that they are tension-free and let your hair get a break from constant manipulation. That said, my favorite part of the look is the versatility—you can straighten it, braid it, add accessories, or even curl it— the options are endless.

While I’m naturally blessed with my afro, I have to admit, it can be extremely high maintenance. Between ensuring my hair is hydrated, doesn’t get too tangled, and actually frames my face the way I want it to, it can feel like a lot of work just to wear my hair the way it grows out of my head. That being said, I’ve had 28 years to practice, and there are some little hacks I've picked up to keep my afro looking just the way I like it. Keep reading for the products I keep on hand to make sure there are only good hair days ahead.

<![CDATA[ Prince William and Princess Kate’s Rarely Seen Family Member Stars in a Special Instagram Post Marking a Royal First ]]> Prince William and Princess Kate don't often share glimpses of their private lives on social media, and when it comes to their pets, fans are lucky to get an occasional glimpse in a photo with Prince George, Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis. Their beloved dog Lupo died in November 2020, but before he passed, the royal couple welcomed another black cocker spaniel, Orla, into their family. The Waleses remained tight-lipped about their secret dog for years and they didn't even share her name—which means "golden princess"—until 2022. But to mark National Pet Day on April 11, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a solo photo of their dog for the first time.

"Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship and love to our lives this #NationalPetDay 🐾🐕‍🦺," their post read. The photo featured a portrait of Orla sitting in the grass with dripping wet fur (perhaps from a swim with George, Charlotte and Louis?) and a quite regal expression as she looks off to the side.

Princess Kate's brother, James Middleton—who gave Orla to his sister and brother-in-law from one of his litters—couldn't resist adding a comment, writing, "Beautiful in every way 🐾."

The Wales family welcomed Orla into their home at some point in 2020 after James's dog Luna had puppies that May. "The new puppy is adorable and the whole family are besotted," a friend of the Waleses told the Mail on Sunday in January 2021, when the news of William and Kate's new dog was first reported.

"They were devastated when Lupo passed away," the source continued. "It was hoped that a younger dog would give Lupo some company and give him a little more life and energy."

In November 2020, William and Kate announced that Lupo had died, writing on Instagram, "Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much. - W & C."

Orla made her official royal debut in Princess Charlotte's 2022 seventh birthday photos, with the young princess hugging the dog in a field of flowers. The pup also starred in Princess Kate's cancer update video in September 2024. To date, Orla has only made one public appearance, joining William and Kate at the 2022 Royal Charity Polo Cup.

Fellow dog lovers King Charles and Queen Camilla missed out on an opportunity to share their own new pets for the holiday. In February, The Queen revealed she had adopted a dog named Moley, and The King welcomed a new puppy named Snuff to their family this winter.
